Sushi Bar Experience

I don't eat raw fish, it makes me vomit. I don't understand why I don't eat them. When I dined in a sushi bar, I saw a lot of freshly and beautifully prepared raw fishes which the Japanese call "sushi". The look is appetizing but still it never convinced me to eat raw fish. I am glad that there are other varieties of sushi, not raw fish, for me to eat.

I eat a lot of stuff when I went to Japan that I didn't normally eat..lol..I didn't even know what half of it was. It is probably better that way. I eat the sushi..raw and cooked..luckily it didn't make me ill. I actually enjoyed the food there.

Where in Japan did you go? There are many different kinds of food in japan which I want to taste for they are all beautifully packed. However, when it comes to sushi, I have no guts to eat them.

hi doris. i'm a big fan of sushi. i eat these stuff until i'm full!!! no kidding! i know that not everyone is into sushi but there are, like you said, other varieties of sushi that you can partake. i would suggest that you talk to the waiter or chef and ask for recommendations on what kind to eat especially for a 'newbie' sushi eater such as yourself. i've heard and read cases of sushi eaters not having a pleasurable experience after a couple pieces of these bad boys. so just to be on the safe side do ask what they put on those sushi rolls before having them. so might also what to check if you have allegies or whatnot with the ingredients that they use. i'm happy that i can pop sushi in my mouth like candies! ahahahaha! especially if dipped in soy sauce with lime/lemon and lots of wasabi sauce! yummmmmmy!!! cheers!

You are like my husband. He also love sushi and it really is amazing to see him savour the taste of sushi. I don't like the taste of wasabe, it really is awful to me. LOL

I have always been really put off at the thought of eating this aswell! I have seen some beautifully presented dishes on cooking shows and in recipe books but i have never braved a sushi bar, the closet i have been to being able to try prepared sushi is at the shopping mall sushi quick wrapped round sushi. I think the sauces and other accompaniments like the raw vegtables, rice and seaweed is suppossed to be a great flavour together but i am scared to experience it first hand. I never realised their was varietys that weren't raw fish fillet besides tuna. what other flavours did you try and did you enjoy the experience and the food?

I went to Osaka and Nagasaki. We visted Kyoto too. It was an amazing trip. I would have like to have spent some time in Tokyo, but it wasn't my destination so I did not get to.

I wouldn't eat raw fish and especially in a Japanese sushi bar! The Japanese eat fish from all over the world, much of which has traveled such long distances, it could hardly be called fresh! Then, the latest radiation leak is surely the last nail in the coffin. Sushi no no!

Well there are sushi which are not raw and not fish. They also have egg sushi and another which is sweet. I just don't know what was that.
