Are any of you a Twitter?

I have posted away quite merrily and in my postsd I have mentioned Twitter. for some unknown reason the whole idea of Twitter intrigues me, you join, you tell everyone your business, you speak of your day to day affairs and you report your movements. ( not literally). This is how I envisage Twitter to be, am I right or am I wrong? So I join Twitter and I say, Oh, just going to sainsburys, well who the heck is interested in that unless Johnny depp is one of my followers! Having scrambled egg, mushrooms and bacon for tea tonight, who wants to know? not Twitter thats for sure!

I do use Twitter. I do not really talk about my day or anything. I use it to share links to stuff I like and sometimes there are cool sweepstakes and stuff like that. I have a few followers, so I guess someone cares about what I post. lol.

Oh that sounds quite interesting. So they have games on the site as they do on facebook? i always look at these games or applications as they call them and wonder how they work! The farm game looks fun and lately I have seen a game that looks like a rubiks cube. My friend often sends out fortune cookies, they seem to contain a daily horoscope.

No they don't have any games or applications. A lot of websites and companies use twitter for different things.

Maybe companies and businesses would use sites like twitter to promote themselves then. I suppose the only way to understand any social networking site such as twitter and facebook is to join up and see how it works. I was a fan of Sarah Brown the ex PMs wife and she was on Twitter so I could have follwed her.

hi ruby222! yeah i am on twitter too. i was pushed to sign in and was told to try out twitter by a celebrity friend of mine who religiously post his happenings with his account on a daily basis. at first i was like, "what is it should i say on my twitter account? what is it that i would like to post?" but when i found no answer, i stopped using my twitter. but last year of 2010, i began logging in to my twitter account and to my surprise i got hooked with it and posted nonstop! ahaha! i found interest in visiting it from time to time especially when i had my phone registered to an unlimited surfing service for my phone. with my twitter, you can see the emotions i pour into it. i considered this my srouce of outlet like when i am sad, when i am happy, etc.

i can see where you are coming from. Twitter allows you to put your feelings down on paper, writing is a good therapy and sharing emotions can be very helpful. I am not sure that I could bare my soul to twitter or any other social networking site. One of my contacts on facebook always posts when she is about to attend a hopstial or doctors appointment and then makes a later post to inform us of the outcome!

I am not twitting as much as I am mylotting. Am still trying to figure out the advantages of being a twitter.

The advantages of being a twitter are hard to understand! I suppose the site allows the celebrities to constantly update and let us know what is going on in their lives. Then again i dont know if i would have the patience to want to know what was happening in Brad Pitts life.

I have an account there too but stopped using it. Recently I opened it up again and am still trying to see how it can be of any use - but I'll get there eventually I guess

I am maybe going to join twitter and see what all of the commotion is about. The facebook thing has amazed me, I though that it would be a one minute wonder but it has taken off big time. Facebook has the messaging facility too which makes it a useful communication tool. Although my neice was a member and I now notice that she has closed her account, she had a lot of photographs posted on the site and I wondered if her other half didnt appreciate it.

I am sure that your view of Twitter is correct. As I said elsewhere I belong but am not really a user. If Facebook is for faces, is Twitter for Twits?

LOL yes, well a twit i am, or not as the case may be. As mentioned above the proof of the pudding has to be in the eating so the best way to find out if Twitter is any good is to join it. another post says that twitter is used for many different purposes, such as promotion. I will have to sit and think if there are any celebrities that i would like to follow...hmmmm thinking cap on now.

Twitter is microblogging. Our characters are limited to 140 and we can't say much unless you're using ubersocial or another application that can allow us to twit longer. When i post there i don't expect people to reply to me but sometimes they do and that's exciting when i get a real conversation there. Sometimes i post something poetic or quotable. I do post what i'm doing but not all the time. I usually post something that people might be interested in and i know they're not interested in my every move. I got only a few followers over 140 or almost 150. I noticed that the more interesting i tweet, the more followers i get. I like twitter because i can express my thoughts and my poetry.

Yes, sharing lovely thoughts on twitter sounds quite good, however tweeting on ordinary movements sounds a bit silly to me. If you have that amount of followers on twitter then you must be doing something right. sharing poetic thoughts, that sounds pleasant too. blogging is a mysery to me, I know what it means and to some extent how it works and as you say twitter is in fact a type of microblogging.

Personally sometimes this is what I have wanted to know as well. And then you see a lot of these type of comments on Facebook now as well. It does make me wonder, and at the same time know that if I am wanting to read and enjoy and have something exciting to respond back too, I will come here in myLot instead.

I have never used Twitter. I have thought about trying it. I currently do all of my networking with my friends on facebook.I think that all of these social networks are about the same.

Ruby, you do make me laugh. That's exactly how I envision Twitter. I cannot imagine how anyone would be remotely interested in my day to day movements, and they'd have to live a very exciting life for me to be interested in theirs. Mind you, I thought I'd never join Facebook but I've fairly recently set up a business page for the farm. Perhaps this time next year I'll be twittering like the rest, telling you all that I'm off to clean out the goats now but first I'll make a cup of tea.

Haha - I find so many people post the most boring things such as they are going shop etc etc but, I really only post to say something important or to aid in stuff I want people to know about such as if doing a charity event to get exposure and hopefully raise money!

yes i am on twitter and i use it just to get a update on my favorite celebrities lives and just to keep my friends updated who also use twitter as well.

I would imagine that millions of people use twitter to follow their favourite celebrities. i have just read an interesting article about social networking sites in the daily paper. they asked 1000 people if they thought that sites like twitter etc discouraged people from actually talking. a vast percentage of those who were asked felt that twitter etc did stop conversation.

You sounded funny. I like the way you think. You have a point there. It's so hard when you get to be hooked up by celebrities and they're not to you. Wonderful topic by the way.

I think that there are alot of people that are now using Twitter, maybe more than face book.I am a member of face book, but i am not a member of Twitter.I was going to join it, but there were loads of links and i was not sure which one i needed, also i do not know if i would use the site that much.
@ruby222 (4847)

As I mentioned Joystick, I belong to facebook but i cannot say that i am an active user. i have noticed that some post each and every day and make multiple posts per day but I really couldnt be bothered with that. I do like to look at the photographs posted on facebook though. I think it is very important to make sure that you have your settings right on facebook to protect your privacy.

I have a twitter account but I have stopped using twitter due to the fact that it is not quite as exciting as facebook. I also find out that twitter is a little bit technical than facebook. I do not understand so many of the link and I have not been able to find a lot of my friends on twitter compared to facebook. I still feel the site will improve on its content in the long run but I will have to concentrate on facebook for now since I am more familiar with facebook compared to twitter.thanks
