Have you read the book of Ecclesiastes? There are many scriptures in the Bible that show that it must have been written under inspiration by God as they seem to come from Someone who knows so much more than the scientists of the time when the Bible was written. Here Solomon talks about how the water cycles in Ecclesiastes 1:7 (New International Version) . "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again." He also shows what happens us when we die - Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." We can clearly see when we read the whole Bible, that those who wrote it, including Solomon, all believed in a resurrection from the death. Some of the writings in this book may sound pessimistic, but it is interesting to read the conclusion in the end of the book, chapter 12 "13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." What have you found in the book of Ecclesiastes?

Well, we are all different, and for me listening is a good way and I don´t need to sit and read as too much sitting is not good for my body, but can move and make some breakfast and other things and still concentrate - the readers are really good and make the text alive. Thanks you for encouraging us to read the Bible daily. I don´t know how many of us started when we had the discussion about it last summer, but for me it was a great milestone and I have kept to it since then. In this way my life has changed for the better!

it sounds almost as though he that wrote ecclesiates didnt believe in resurrection. if it says do it all now for nothing is after? geesh. never read that part of the Bible. read up to deuteronomy when i was 12yrs, then got side tracked. but have read many other parts since from study in church etc.

Hi, Erroll - Solomon was wise while he followed the advice from God Almighty, but at an old age he took a lot of wifes who were worshippers of falso gods and these lead him to no longer obey the laws of the true God. But while he wrote the Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, he was still a worshipper of the true God. The conclusion shows that clearly. Thanks for your response..
