Aren't you afraid of putting yourself into jail?

Hi,myLotters!Do you remember that woman who's good at "earning money" mentioned in one of my previous discussitions? Last Tuesday morning she's taken away by three people from the local police station! And it's said that in the evening of the same day she's taken away to the house of detention in the countytown. That morning at about 9:30 I saw a police car parked at the gate of the school(My office's door faces the school gate),then three persons in police uniform(One of them was female)came in.They straightly went upstairs to the headmaster's,and with the help of our headmaster, they found the woman in the campus(She works as a campus walker). At the gatekeeper's one of the policemen told the woman's husband something, then she was taken into the car.Since then I haven't seen her at the campus, but I can imagine she's in the place that she should have entered. The woman was really good at "earning" money, always took advantage of one's greedy to have scammed the people nearby or even far away to lend her money, and she promised to give back the money with specially high interests. They say she at least had borrowed more than 600,000 yuan, but she almost never returned! For such a reason we could see that quite a few lenders came into the campus to look for her.And little did I think at the beginning of this year, again she had managed to borrowed 10000 yuan from the parents of a pupil! Do you dare to borrow money like that?

Well, that is her price for being greedy. I did borrow money from friends, but in the amount that i am sure i can repay it as soon as i can. It is so hard to have debts and run away from it... As much as possible i stay away from debts...

Yes,I don't like being in debts,so I would rather go without something than borrowing money to buy it.

I couldn't do that either. In America, if you borrow from the wrong folks, like the Mafia, and if you cannot pay it back, then it is best to put yourself in jail. The only problem is, the mafia can find you in jail too.

I agree. But sadly, there are people who chase money.

Not all money should be chased by us.

I am afraid of being in jail when I am not guilty of any crime. The justice here in my country is vague. Even if you are innocent, those who have money will still win over you. Justice is not prevail. About the money, this person is not really concern or not really intend to bring back the money as she had loan so many of it. I cannot borrow money that high since I know I cannot pay it back. We should be careful of lending money to someone because we might have it back in later time.

Also we thought of that.Since the woman knew that she couldn't pay back all the money, she had to continue managing to borrow more to return those who threatened her so that she got more deeply in danger.Yes,we'd better not be a borrower as well as a lender.

Heavens no. That is a scam artist at work. That is why she was taken away. People probably reported her and the police came to arrest her. Making alot of money by scadulous means isn't really making money at all. Is is scamming others out of what is rightfully theirs. Sad she got away with it in the like of 600,000 yuan.

Yes,she has no conscience and she should have been arrested. Many lenders haven't got back the money at all,and it's said they were complaining the reporter about having reported to the police, but no one admitted it.

I don't like this type of activities and the person who involve in these. If police taken her to jail than it means she deserve it. Honesty is the best policy.

People like that lady try to prove it that honesty is nothing but remember it that honest pay you in long term. You can earn some amount with fraud but you never earn peace with this money.

I wouldn't even think of doing something like this intentionally. I would hope it wouldn't happen at all. It sounds like she had a good job working for the school. I just can imagine what she was thinking. She borrowed money from the parents of a student. I'm surprise it took so long for her to get caught. 600000 yuan sound like a lot of currency. Thanks for the update. I like be updated on stories like this. Because I often wonder whatever happen in that situation. Best Wishes!

That wouldn't be anything that I would want to get involved in...I don't like borrowing any money...and then to promise to pay them back with interest...she was asking for trouble....I don't borrow people money either...unless its my own kids...that's it!

Yes,often borrowing money from others is not a good habit,I don't like it,either. But the woman really loved doing that in spite of getting herself into jail, hehe.

Oldsix691418, I do not know what to say for this woman but pity her that she had to resort to such a Ponzi scheme when she could have put her convincing act to better things. I read about her during my trip to your country and I have to shake my head at the gullibility of her victims. Yet, at the same time I have to ask that question of how she could not have thought of making a legitimate investment for her list of potential capital investors. Sad at how people make their decisions to go on the wrong side of the law.
• China
10 Jun 11
There's no pity for her now since she was too greedy to stop her scamming actions. She's made some legitimate investments, but maybe she saw that she could gain money more quickly by scamming,so she's unwilling to stop it.

I am very much afraid of being put to jail.......... In fact, being inside the jail is much more scary that being admitted to the hospital. That woman is not actually good at making money, she good at swindling other people's money. If that's the case, she should be put to jail.

So far we haven't got any news from her, maybe they are collecting evidence materials about what she scammed.I don't know what she is thinking of what she's done.

Hi. Oldsix691418. No. I don't borrow money like that at all. I only borrow what I know that I will pay back. I won't borrow any money that I know that I can't afford to pay back. I just wonder, how this woman was able to talk others into giving her this kind of money anyway? I would not dare to borrow that much of money from anyone, without me knowing for sure if I am able to pay this money back at all. If she promised to give back or pay back the money with special high interests, she should have done so. Lying about this, only got her into more hot water than she could ever imagine.

I think her purpose was just grabbing money and never wanted to return, but no one can accept that. Her scamming skills were mentioned in my other comments, you can read them if you have time.

Someone (I forgot who) once said "Neither a borrower or a lender be". I believe that to be good advice. The woman whose actions you described was motivated by greed as muh as those she scammed. Greed is not illegal, but acting on it in that manner is. I hope she gets a long sentence.

I like the word, too, everyone can earn money by themselves, and we don't have to often act as a borrower or a lender. But the result hasn't come out,she hasn't been sentenced yet.

She's a smart woman, using her advantage in the wrong areas. I should say she's playing on the psychological side of people, tempting people with benefits. Human nature as it is, especially for the poor and ambitious, when there's a good deal being offered to us, our money mind tends to react faster than the actual mind. By time we realise it, it's too late. It's always easy to see things being an outsider, but when we are involved in it, we are not that clear minded after all.

I agree with you,and I think being too greedy isn't good to anybody.Being satisfied with what we have properly always do us good.

I knew a person who is in the same situation like the woman you are telling. Actually she is my bestfriend and I am one of her victims. My bf is a very hardworking woman, she have a permanent job in the bank and have many sidelines like insurance and lending. She borrowed money from people to be invested in real business, I mean "real" because she have established her own office and have several franchise. I know she was doing good because she purchase a new car and she quits her permanent job. She never failed to give me the interest for everything she loan for the past nine years so I know she will never fail me. Until last September when she confess to me that she was bankrupt, her existing assets is not enough to cover all her loans to people and other banks. She has to fly away because if she will be put in jail, she will never recover the lost money. She promised to pay me as soon as she got a job. It's almost 9 months now but I haven't recovered a good amount from her. I have a big problem now but with God's grace I know I could recover from all of this problem.

This woman was greedy and took advantage of innocent people so she only had herself to blame. I do not understand why so many people had faith in her because how could she turn out to be such an evil person? What is going on in her head? She was trusted with a large sum of money and this is how she re-payed it.

I think it must be the greed from the deep souls of us that has brought up the woman and all the victims. She used to tell you that her couple both had permanent jobs and her hubby worked as a leader of the school; She shew you "her" new buiding or a building that was building; She extremely cared your child who's at school; And she promised you higher interests...Wouldn't you trust her?

People who always borrow money are sick as they have no control of their urge to borrow money and will always look for their victims to extort money without the real need for money. I have a friend who comes from a well to do family and she is going around to borrow money even from the shark loans. When she fail to borrow money she will steal from her employer. She was sacked from her last employment because she embezzled vast amount of cash much to the embarrassment of her fame parents. Since the parents are well off, they always come to her rescue and pay off her loans to avoid tarnishing the good name of the family.

I would never borrow money like that! I might borrow small amounts in order to get something I need, but I have never done that and don't think I ethically could! I might be desperate for money at times, but I usually just let time pass and the money I get in anyway shows up and all is well. I hope this woman has learned something (i.e., crime doesn't pay!) Thanks for sharing!

Haha,I think she used to believe that her crime would be paid!Or why was she addicted to borrow money like that? I don't like borrowing money from anyone. If I have to do,I'll return it as soon as I can.I would always think of the borrowed money and would feel upset for it!

Nothing is wrong in borrowing money for everybody experiencing scarcity. I also have nothing against people who borrows money. There are times and situations that compelled us to be in need of money, and no exemption to that. But we always have to be responsible in our own actions. If we borrowed something even in cash or in kind, it is our responsibility to give it back to whom we borrowed it. Doing such, people won't loose their trust and would be able to understand the situation when the time comes that we could not return it to when we promised it. And to answer your question...definitely I am. No one wants to spend time inside the jail. Not only for the reason of shame but it will take us away from our family, but from the community as well where we can live freely. No one who came from inside that says it is a happy life in there. If we are used to live normal way..staying in jail even for a day will surely make us disturb. So, if staying in there just for the reason of what has been mention here in your message, someone should think twice if it's worth it. Fooling people won't do us good. Happy mylotting.

Yes,we must take the reponsibility to return anytihing in cash or in kind that we borrowed from others.Since you are one of the community, you have to need the help from others, but you cannot do scamming by taking advantage of the trusts from others. I agree with you.But I don't think the woman and her hubby haven't thought of the consiquence before. And before she was arrested, the couple's salaris and deposits have been blocked, but she never stopped scamming!Hehe, maybe she loves being jail.

Hi,my new friend! If you met the woman here, you would never know she's been "borrowing" money like that. She looks so cute, speaks tenderly, both of her couple work in the same school and her hubby is one of the vice headmasters...None of what you see can make her look like a scammer. So quite a few strangers or acquaintances were scammed!

I am definitely afraid of putting myself into jail. I do not want to be in such situation because for sure my freedom to do a lot of things will be lost. If I get into jail, I cannot go anymore to any place that I want to go. Furthermore, I cannot see my loved ones as often as I want, etc. I believe no one would love to be behind the bars.

I entirely agree with you.I love freedom more than money even if I eat porridge every meal.I don't believe she never knew the consequence, but the greed controled her.
