Hello Lotters, We have renovated the place, when the fourth commercial space was built, we moved the door bell to a farther area where no kid can climbed up and press it. But NO! some one had pressed the damn door bell, but this time it didn't last long not more than one press because the DOG was more likely to see and that initiated a bark.. No offense to people who were once a KID and enjoyed the door bell PRANK days, but this wasn't fun when you get to experience it YOURSELF. well, it won't be long before we get to start earning some money and save some for a either a CCTV or a Video Cam connected to a monitor (if there was one). I am really pissed when it comes to people messing around with our doorbell. *actually i thought it was the renter's staff who were supposed to put their beverage cases in the new built storage drawer that we made for them since they lack space for storing accessories and softdrinks/beer bottles*

Oh i remember that when we were there used to do the same pranks at this huge house and my friends and i take turns in ringing the door bell. One time what the person did was to guard the gate and when my friend was about to press the door bell, the door opened and the man shouted got you! And we were caught by surprise. Maybe what you cando was do or put a similar strategy. Now you can put car alarm in your door like when someone would in near the door it would sound and scare the kids away and just turn it off when you are expecting people to come by your house. Hehe or you can try catch them as to what was done to us and after that incident we did not do it again.

Hello chiyosan, It's not COOL when some one is fooling around with your door bell. what if you got used to prank doorbell and you didn't realize that the next "door bell" is actually an emergency that you tend to ignore. i think karma will have to those who plays the door bell. the door bell is there for a reason and not for children to play with it. even at my child hood days i never play with the door bell

HMmm.. That's weird because I had never experienced that before, even when we were still living in an area close to a public school. Perhaps the house doesn't look as if someone would be coming out angry. hehehe.. Anyway, perhaps you should get it higher then.

Hello Laydee, I guess consider yourself lucky to have not experience those. some how those kids had different kinds of fun and pranking on the door bell is not one of them. am not sure, but if you did experience that probably you would have a different opinion but i can say you're lucky to have not experience it

hi letran why not get one of those doorbells that plays the sound of a snarling vicious dog.when we were delivering phone books we were to always ring the door bell and alert people that they had new ohone books. well this one place had this ultra fancy foyer and IO rang te darned door bell. whoa the sound really made me pause 'and jump back. there was ths snarls of some really large extremely vicious dogs of some sort. the homeowner was pleased to get the phone books. I asked her about the door bell. seems they had had a rash of kid playing pranks and so they bought this recording. once a kid heard that he notified all his friends and the incessant door bell ringing stopped.[

Hello hatley, that's because the sound of the doorbell would be coming from the inside and most pressers won't hear it from the out side except if hear it inside. well, recording is fine but i prefer having a video cam that can detect these people and keep them from fooling around with the doorbell.

I can see how that can be very annoying. The only thing I can think of is to un-wire the doorbell so it doesn't ring anymore. At least you won't be bothered by it.

Hello Shar19, I wish i can do that all the time but the trouble is that my mom has a lot of friends that visit her ever morning and afternoon. as of now, i am just happy that i can actually feel safe for not been able to worried about annoying people who would mess around with the doorbell.

hmmm won't you like that Letran? you could get exercise out of that..everytime the door bell rang.. you could walk and see who is outside..and then go back inside and then it will rang again..and you go back again... kidding! Well you could install a camera and have it connected in a laptop, my uncle who is filthy rich has that and everytime we go there they could see us befoer we could even ring the bell!

Hello Jazel, that's definitely not my ideal exercise besides, i find it annoying, there's a purpose why that door bell was put and not for the purpose of that being a toy to kids. i can actually look and see who is in the monitor when ever i use the computer. but of course, it's rare to those who are coming in or not.

hi, I understand how irritating door bell pranks can be especially when taking a meal, it's something we have to live by living in the Philippines where there are a lot of "yagits" or street children, yes installing a cctv camera can help because some of this pranks might not really be doorbell pranks but a way of testing if somebody is home before they climb in to enter, it's similar to what some burglers do in our country where they will throw a stone in your roof and observe if somebody responds, so do take necessary precautions, good luck

Hello louievill, Usually they are pranksters, but what you told me today is even more frightening. we use to have the poorest looks outside the house, people peeing, throwing trash when ever they want in front of our house and the likes. but despite of that burden, we were more safe than danger because no crooks are going to take advantage of our poor like house. But now we have four commercial space ALL occupied and our house looks cool trend like the others, i fear this kind of situation. we have a dog though she's not fearsome kind of a guardian but barks when ever some one's using it.thank you for the advice, i will be careful not to leave the house more often.

i'd rather have a poor house! but we need money. but having a commercial space poses danger some how. we even have a stairs to the 2nd floor doesn't even have a secured grilled door, only our dog is the main security

thanks for the BR knight and good luck on your business, yes living in a cool house does have advantages and sad to say disadvantages like making us potential target for crime and bad elements, again do take care, if you are willing to spend for home improvement then I guess we should also set aside a certain budget for security gadgets that's proportional to how we perceive other people perceive how much we are worth.

Well I was young once and I did phone pranks but I never did door bell pranks. Not only did I not think of it I dont think I would have been brave enough to do it either. That would be so annoying if someone did that to me. It would wake my kids up when they were sleeping and then I wouldnt just be annoyed I would be mad.

Hello shaggin, You that possible karma that you might get in the end for other kids doing it in your house. yeah, i got phone pranks too but that was less when i still have that caller ID. it's hard when some one's fooling around with the door bell and escapes successfully when we go out. usually the kids were the ones doing it but for now we have no clue who is.

That reminds me of my neighbor's daughter today. While we were cleaning up from weeding the flower bed, she kept getting this prank phone call, except she knew it was her friend's 11 year old brother. So when he called again, she answers it and says, "Can you call back in about ten minutes?" and he says, "okay" I thought that was funny, asking a prank caller to call you back and they agree to it..

It wasn't my daughter, it was my neighbor's daughter who was helping me weed their flower bed, so I had no say in the matter..But the way she was talking, it was all for fun, so no harm done..:)

Hello carmel, that's unbelievable but i guess the 11 year wants to play with your daughter or has a crush on your daughter or something. but would have been better if you can talked to this 11 yr old. it's bother you guys when you are busy with some thing else. ] i think they should just talk on the phone.

We used to call that "ding dong ditch it" or "ring and run". and yeah, it's much more fun when you're doing the ringing, and not being the person getting pranked.

I remember when we transferred to a new house in the suburbs, my husband had placed a door bell at the gate, there are many children playing in the neighborhood and it was really a fun for them pressing our door bell and when we go out and take a look who's pressing the bell, the children will just smile and run away. What he did was to disengage the door bell and replace it with dogs who bark most of time when some people are just having their way at our street.

Hello JUnrapmian, HA-HA-HA-HA! i just can't imagine the look on those kids eyes. i really doubt they can mess up with the DOG because of this. it's really annoying why children do these things. i guess this is the reason why mom never allowed me to get used to going outside the house and do stuff here and there. at least now, am one of those who hated fooling around with the neighbor

Hi! Children are playful and when they have mixed with some kids who are rascal and there they started to do things that annoying the people in the neighborhood. I have not experience the door bell prank before but I do know how annoying it is. My house front gate have got a door bell button but it never function, because I did not install a bell so that I will not get such a annoying prank. Almost everyone having a cell phone, so, that is what my friends who visit me will use that as a door bell, I told them to miss call me when they are in front of my house. So, if I am at home, I will open the door or else they will get my message that I am not at home.

Hello yspmyl, Wow! that's a very unique way of your friends using the calling or miss call as a way to door bell or address you. yeah, you can't help get angry if thre are people out there who wants to fool around with the door bell. sad though i don't have friends doing that for me, or i would have been more safe.

Oh boy seems like life drives in circles eh? I remember doing it myself until one time I was caught. lol Hope they stop soon and get tired because it can be tiresome to have to go check each time the prank goes off.

Hello hardworkinggurl, Actually, the next day i found out that it was one of the renters who have done it. but that's because i wasn't around when they put their bottles and sealed them. as for now i think it's a nice idea still if there's a security camera so that i wouldn't worry who's using the door bell. have a nice day

I'm guilty of that prank when I was a grade one student. I walk home with my friend every afternoon and we had to pass by this mansion where the doorbell is within our reach. Every time we passed by we would push the doorbell, but nobody ever came to the gate. Probably it was a broken doorbell. Due to the fact that nobody ever answered it we continuously kept on pushing the button till we got tired. On the other hand, I became a victim as well in our own house. But good thing is I can always check through the window to see who's ringing the darn bell! Gotcha!

Hello toni, That doesn't mean you can't hear the RING doesn't mean it's broken. we have a bell that is not like a buzzer before but idiots keep pushing them until it was destroyed. we replace it though and we had a change the place. but unfortunately, things aren't well tonight because some one presses the door bell and no one was around. i think it was high enough for a teen or grown up to press it

hi LK, That is really irritating we have doorbells too but no one dare to do the doorbell prank but our doorbell always grounded it was annoying Wow ask Jaiho about CCTV happy mylotting

Hello catch, Yes, it is indeed irritating knowing that people have no idea how important the door bell is. i'd wish our door bell was grounded. unfortunately, that only happens during rainy season or if there is a typhoon. i am not sure but i haven't talked to jaiho about the CCTV, i think we still lack budget into these thigns.
