Have you ever cooked chicken, to where it has scented up your house?

I baked a 5lb pack of chicken legs/drumsticks on last Sunday. I took my time and I seasoned the chicken really well. I seasoned my chicken with Lawry's Seasoning Salt, 25% less sodium. I also used Mrs Dash Onion & Herb Seasoning Blend, Salt-free and Walmart's generic brand, Great Value, Pure Ground Black Pepper. I allowed this chicken to marinate for about 4 to 5 hours in the refrigerator. Once this was done, I added water to the baking pan. I added up to 2 cups of water and that was all. I let this chicken bake for up to 2 and half hours. And, it was so delicious! I only diced up one small yellow/vidalia onion to it and this chicken came out so yummy. My entire house was scented up for two to three days, with the delicious aroma from baking this chicken. I really put my foot in this chicken because it tasted so good. I ate almost, seven pieces of chickem legs. We all had a fabulous dinner on Sunday and Monday. I also hope that all have had a wonderful and blessed Memorial Day holiday as well too.

It is not only chicken that seems to scent up the whole house. I don't know if I just have a strong sense of smell or what, but every time I cook something, the house seem to smell of it as well. Anyway, nice to know that you had a great memorial day weekend!

I can't count how many times did I make chicken in my life. Every Sunday we buy chicken at home and store it into the fridge. I can make chicken curry in different tastes. It is a mouth watering dish.

Hello Cream! In India we uselot of spices and other ingredient to impart taste and aroma to non veg dishes! Even in ordinary non vegetarian curry many spices are added! Condiments and spices added to these dishes make them very tasty and delicious. Chicken is no exception to this! Though I don't prepare food on regular basis, I love to do various experimentation with the Non Vegetarian dishes. Chicken is my favorite thing to cook as it is cooked easily for it is tender than most other meats! When I try to cook , I try to do some thing new and I use lot of spices and condiments of course in desired proportion only. I live to add lot of Onions to my curries . The aroma of fried onions along with spices make is mouth watering and on top of it when chicken is added it enhances the aroma by four folds! Thus when ever I prepare chicken like in many Indian homes my home also left with a nice aroma which acts as an appetiser! We are family of three, my wife and my son are my fans and practically they eat anything what I prepare with great interest which makes me very happy and thus in an attempt to make them happy I try to make my dishes as tastier as possible! Many a times it happens that the dishes become so rich that I feel bit uneasy to eat them but my fans have no problem in having it! Thus you can say I can prepare chicken which can leave aroma in my place and all around my place! LOL! Thanks for the discussion, I liked participating in it!

Chicken is such a versatile food and can be used for many different types of recipes. I find that we like to grill or fry our chicken legs. My husband doesn't care for the smell of boiled or baked chicken.

I can almost smell it just from reading your description. I marinate, sometimes brine chicken and it always smells good. A little garlic and onions in the pan with a dash of poultry seasoning after the brining and cook/bake for a while in a low temp oven seems to infuse the chicken with the seasonings so well. I buy the 10# bag of chicken quarters and cook some and freeze some for later. It's always a good buy.

Wow the house kept smelling with the roasted scent wow it makes me hungry already. No i don't think i had made such a tasty dinner. But i remember once i baked some buttermilk chicken with salted biscuit crumbs as coating. They smelled similar like this and kept lingering my house with the scent. But the taste was not that good as the smell because by mistake i added golden syrup for marination instead of maple syrup

Wow, this sound really good to make. I love it when my house smell really good after dinner too. My pot roast usuallly leaves a wonderful smell. I also cook the clam linguine sauce by Rachel Ray and take it to work and everyone smell it and wants some too. But it is all mine at work (lol). I am usually so hungry when I have like this that it is gone way too soon and people wants seconds in my family on this receipe. Thank you for this receipe and I printed it out to try over the weekend. Have a great night. Sincerely Unique16

Isn't it wonderful when something like chicken can come out so good and leave such a great aroma. It is like walking into the house next day and feel like someone just cooked. I too like to marinate mine but I use a Spanish Marinade called Mojo. The aroma is like having cooked a fresh turkey. lol My Memorial Day was very peaceful and hope yours was fun.

that sounds really yummy and chicken, in my opinion always smells good. like last week, my mom cooked chicken right before our out of town trip and my niece who was quite busy in front of the tv, started going from room to room, searching for the origin of the yummy scent. she came into my bedroom and asked, 'what's that that smells good?' i told her it was baked chicken, she hurried to the kitchen and asked for a piece. that was the first time she was so drawn by the smell of food...my mother felt so proud of herself.

if you use aromatic spices its sure to smell everywhere even the neighbors. the chicken it self doesn't have that strong smell. its the spices that you put into it.
