Do you have Brownies who live with you.

You know what Brownies are, those little invisiable beings that play tricks on people in a house. I don't remember what land they came from but would be happy to pay their ticket back. We suffer from missing tools and bad memories around here, that causes many wasted hours of searching. Tools all have their place and once removed from there are suppose to return. However it has been found that it's the return part that is weak here. It often happens that the returnie will be on the way to the proper spot of return and get a phone call or other intruption. The tool is placed where the call began or taken with the returnie who then gets involved in another job at which point the tool is left wherever that happens to be. Next call for the tool and it's not where it should be, now understand several days or even weeks can go by. Hense the hours of search. Frustration, bad temper even a swear word or two. Then a beer or two to cool off, maybe a sandwitch it's off to the store to buy a new tool. If I know about this I make very sure I keep the receipt, because as soon as the new tool arrives and within an hour of it's use, low and behold the old tool shows up. DARN Does this happen at your home?

I don't know if they are brownies or not, but they sure are aggravating little devils if they are. Stuff that you knew you put in a certain place..gone...later..in an obvious place...not where you left it but where you have already looked a couple of times before you found it.

I can't claim that I have these in my home because the little things that live in my house that don't put things back where they belong are named Kathryn and Paul. With that said, my recollection of the story was that when you were asleep the Brownies would come out and clean up all of the mess within the house. I remember that from being a little girl and being in Girl Scouts. However, it could be that there are many different versions of the story and that just happens to be the only one that I've heard.

Yup, they live here also. There must be a whole colony of them by the sounds of it. But mine take the things and I never see them again, no matter how much I look for whatever they took. We had a party at my place once and we had balloons all around the dining room. At the end of the party, everybody left with a balloon so I was left with one. I left it there as it was cute. One day while Im cooking, the balloon was floating along and nestled on top of the kitchen cabinets......then it popped. So I climbed on top of a chair, then on top of the counter to pick up the blown out balloon. There was nothing on top of the kitchen cabinets. I looked on the floor, in the kitchen cabinets, but couldnt find it. It was a big red balloon, so surely it didnt just disappeared when it popped!! Well I never found it and years later, we moved I thought Id find the red deflated balloon somewhere but never did. To this day, I have NO idea what happened!!! Same thing when I drop something on the floor.....I can search for it for hours, but I know I'll never find it. Maybe theres another dimension to our world and thats where some stuff goes. It sure sounds that way to me at my house sometimes. So where are those brownies from then? They must be creatures of the 4th dimension for sure!! lol

Brownies, are they the same as elves? Well, it seems that at home we have some elves. But i guess, they are the "white" ones or the good ones. Sometimes, when i am alone at home, i could hear the heavy wooden chair being pulled. But when i check nothing is moved. ALso, while in the bedroom, i could hear the chair at our dining room being pulled also. But there's no one when i check and no chair was moved. So we are thinking , that they are the "white" elves. No lost tools, just hearing chairs being pulled.

yeah I guess they live here in India too, may be taking over the planet now. I keep missing things too and keys I have lost count off and then my drinking glasses went missing. They must have had a party down their abode so a lot of spoons are missing. But then I don't mind them, they look after my blooming garden and are merry people. They always return things too when they no longer need them.

Yes maam, it sure does. I am even occasionally an accomplice of the brownies. I try to be the one who puts everything away when left out, though. Right now my son is missing the back of his phone, not something you usually take off. He says it fell off his table and afterward the back is gone missing. He has checked every where. I am waiting for the brownies to return it, or the cats, since we are not able to replace just the back of the phone.

haha. yes. we have Faeries. definitely. missing things turn up in the strangest and unlikeliest of places. if they turn up at all. bribery and threats sometimes get the things back. it's not easy, living with Faeries. I'm sort of glad of them though. they can be very entertaining. but they are undoubtably a complete nuisance.

Hi savypat, It happens here all the time as well but I haven't heard anyone mention the Brownies in that context for a long time lol! It seems that no one talks about these little creatures anymore but they work havoc here sometimes. I knew a lady not many years ago, though she has passed away now, who believed in leprechauns. I think that her ancestors came from Ireland. Blessings.

Yes, we have many brownies which especially seem to prefer roaming around the tools shed in our warehouse space. Tools get missing very often, screws, nuts and bolts are usually not to be found when needed etc. We did manage to identify one brownie though - my uncle tends to borrow tools and usually forgets to return them.

Yes, I have brownies at my house, too! They've taken an ice tea spoon my mother used ever since I can remember and removed it from the silverware drawer. I know I'll find it eventually but it's upsetting. There was a story about Brownies in a book I had as a child. They helped a cobbler make shoes and cleaned his house. He became rich and finally stayed up to see who was doing all the work. He was grateful so left out a saucer of milk the next night. Having been paid for their work, the Brownies moved on to somewhere else and everyone lived happily ever after.

Oh, yes! Pretty much! It happens at our house on a regular basis! I can guarantee that whenever something is lost a and we give up looking for it, after having turned the house upside down, it will show up and of course we would have purchased a new one of whatever it is by then. We blame the gremlins at our place.

Cute ..I have never heard of Brownies used that way. In fact when I read your title I thought of brownies I eat because that is one of my favorie desserts and couldn't figure out why they would 'live' with me. Anyway, haven't heard of Brownies taking things but I have heard of Elves being guilty when things disappear or are fixed and no one knows who did it. LOL I have also heard they eat my Brownies when when they disappear too quickly
