Hello everybody, My friend's camera is broken and we are searching for a new one to buy. We know quite well what we want from the new camera but we can't decide what brand and model to buy. Here's our requirements: - the camera should be a point and shot one, with the ability to take good photos on the Auto mode - the camera should use AAs batteries instead of a personal battery - it would be great if the camera could take good photos for subject in moving. (I know we would need a DSLR for this requirement to be fulfilled but we don't ask for much, we just want this kind of pictures to be somewhat clear. - we would like the price to be not so high because the accident that happened to the previous camera could be repeated anytime - we don't need a sophisticated model and aspects like size, weight and color are not important. Can you give us some suggestions from your experience?

Honestly speaking, if you want something cheap than you have to sacrife the quality aspect. So far I haven't see any cheap camera that perform very good. A $100 14MP camera will have lower quality picture compares to $300 10MP camera. There are some reason the camera is quite expensive. But if you want to buy a good quality camera at a cheaper price, you can wait for the price to drop but if only it is still available in the market. I bought Sony T-99D for MYR1099 last November, now the price is only MYR899. A MYR200 difference but there are not much left in the market if we want to buy now. As for AA battery, why you insist on using AA battery? I don't think AA battery is very economical. Even the rechargeable AA battery won't last long in term of power storage and life span. I prefer to use L-ION battery. More economical. I recommend you to buy Canon camera. Never had a complain about this camera. Either it is a Ixus or Powershot, Canon will give you a good quality picture.

handphone camera is sufficient. - DSLR is big.
Personally i don use digital camera anymore since my hp digital camera is good enough with above 3 Megapixel and anywhere , photo studio can enhanced the picture taken to made or remove any bad effects.Hp is more convenient and small compact and compare with DSLR is damn1 big to carry and also i not avid photographer.Hence prefer camera phone.

We both have cameras on our mobile phones but you can't compare the photos taken with a camera with those taken with a phone. I don't want to buy a DSLR, I just wanted a cheap compact camera. Now I think I won't buy a new one soon, because the old one seems to be back on its senses. I tried to take some photos yesterday with the old camera and it worked.

Canon IXUS range of digital cameras is the perfect choice for your needs: It is basically compact that it fits into your pocket with ease. New models have automatic image stabilisation (for clear images even with shaky hands) Sport mode (to keep fast moving objects in steady focus) The camera automatically chooses optimum contrast, exposure & shutter speed in "AUTO" mode that even an amateur can take high quality shots. Canon in general gives awesome image sharpness and very less noise. You can choose which IXUS camera to buy: based on the budget available... Hope my tips help, do post the model you buy here (as comment).. All the best

I checked the IXUS cameras available on the local market. Most of them are too expensive for what I afford to spend now. The two models that are less expensive don't meet my "AA bateries" requirement. Thank you for the response, I hope I'll get other good advice, too.
