Internet Connections and Service Provider - Globe Telecoms
Philippines
June 11, 2011 10:07am CST
Hi friends and mylotters! I was out for about 2 days online because my internet connection was disconnected due to heavy rains we had these past few days and it really made me missed my online works, lol! I even wasn't able to reply at once to all my started discussions and even in the discussions of my close friends,so this explains why I'm not around in your discussions friends, haha! I hate my net when it is rains,I usually got slow connections or worse,no connections at all, grrr! But it is fine when it's sunny day so I wish it's always a sunny day out here,oh my,but it's too hot! Globe broadband is my service provider, for Filipinos I know they know it 'cause it's one of the most popular and stabled company in our country when it comes to communications. I could say when it comes to repairs, they are prompt and fast in doing it but this time,my net will be repaired 2-5days,oh my! Good thing my cousin let me borrow her smartbro that's why I'm here. Are you satisfied with your internet connection? What can you say about it? What service provider do you use?

The best connection i ever had was with the cable. However i moved a year ago. There was wifi provided for this property but not this section. I was able to pick up the wifi but the service was pretty choppy. So i went to my cell phone provider which also has internet. I got thier moden now. I can not really say anything good about it because i have a lot of problems with it. I get broken connections and sometimes my computer does not recognize the device. Them i either have to leavt it and come back later or uninstall and reinstall. Its a bummer but @ least i get connection.

The connection i have now with the cell phone provider is not cheap it is almost the same as what i was paying for the cable connection. I dont have cable here so i had to choose another way. I thought of dish but it was about the same too. And yes i agree with you having some connection is better than none. But i also have a magic jack for a home phone. With bad internet connection is also bad phone connection.

I haven't experienced using cellphone for online. Maybe because my cell's screen is not big and I might have sore eyes with it reading, lol! But my cell is okay for net connections.

I think it's not about the place because I am here in Manila, and signal is not a problem. But their services is not really good...they should upgrade their server and anything in terms of internet to avoid any troubles which is subscribe suffer disconnection and low connection when storms and rain...

Hi aerous! Well,I've been hearing such things about smart but they always say it depends upon the place where you are. I'm sure in time, you'll be able to afford a better ISP. See yah!

Well, most of the complaints am hearing from their subscribers are telling me it's the area that's been their problem 'cause some areas here in Manila, smart is working well. See yah!

I have switched over to a different broad band net connection and after a few teething troubles it is working smoothly. It is an uninterrupted connection and find it quite ok. Very rarely that it gets disconnected but I report it immediately and they set it right.

LOl, Me from India, and anything from government is crappy here not for the amunt but for the customer service. The only thing in India is that government employees take verything like their own and never care about their customers just because, nothing is going to happen for them. And to come to the topic, I am using a moderate speed plan from BSNL India, and during evenings even the slightest of the winds make my net crawl. I donno what happens there, and sure, there will be no use telling those guys
• Philippines
15 Jun 11
Namaste! Welcome here! Haha,so the customer service is poor,oh my! I believe if you will tell the management about their poor service, they might do some actions about it anyways it will be for their benefit. Why don't you try complaining again to them, maybe now they have a good service, hehe! See yah!

Oh my,that sounds bad karthi! Corruption is really spreading in all counrties especially these days, too bad!

well the problem is , the most impossible job in india isto suspend a government staff from his job because it is another government staff who has the authority and even he is corrupt. So there are no use of complaints. ONly one thing can make things good here that is MONEY.

Since we have PLDT as our our landline provider, we figured it would be more simple and just right to have them also as our internet provider. They're more than okay when it comes to speed. Don't ask me how fast for I won't be able to tell you. I'm not that techie...hehehe. But my hubby, who is an IT executive, says that our connection and speed is really good compared to most in the country. We rarely have any problems. But in the times that we DO encounter any issues, it takes PLDT awhile to fix it. Like 2 days!

Hi there! I've had that before from PLDT,is it the wireless landline phone and a modem router? But I changed mine to Globe,PLDT has a slow connection in my area,so I have no choice but to cut it. I was too excited when I was approved for the package deal of landline and inetrnet from PLDT since I've been hearing from others that PLDT is the best but it isn't in my area, huhu! Mine is still under repair so I guess 2 days is still a short time to resolve your internet problems, lucky you! See yah!

Oh I've heard of Bayantel as well and honestly,it's also one of my net connections before, hehe! Had tried so many ISPs eh,hehe! Bayantel doesn't work well in my place but I heard they are good in some areas like Cainta,Antipolo and Angono. Now QC is also included, hehe!

You know, you're right! My parents live in QC. And over there, PLDT internet is soooo slow! They always encountered problems. It was confirmed by my hubby's uncle who also lives in a different part of QC. So my brother did a little online research and discovered that users found Bayantel to be fast in QC. So they terminated their PLDT internet (but still maintained the landline), and installed Bayantel. The speed is a lot faster (but not as fast as as my PLDT internet speed here in Pasig), and the service is great. Call them and the next day, they were there at my parents' gate!

Here in the UK I am using BT connection. When I lived in the city, I had cable, and it was OK but a little slow at times. I thought that the BT connection here in the countryside would be slower, but it's turned out to be much better as we were supplied with a hub (router) that sends out a great signal. Quite pleased with this now. _Derek

I have tried Globe Broadband wireless, you may get as high as 2mbps but during those times when nobody else is using the NET. So i shift to Globe DSL. For me this is better, uninterrupted signal any time day or night

I'm also using Globe Broadband inay.. and I'm pretty much contented about it. I'm using it for two months now and so far so good. When I got problems, I automatically call their hotline and they response ASAP.. They're good.. MAYBE! Maybe the service depends on the area. What's ur internet speed inay or monthly plan? Mine is P1,295. :P

Hi sis! I am using Globe Broadband also. For the first two years, their service really pissed me off but in fairness this year, they did a great job. It is never a problem to me anymore. Maybe, they just have to fix something in your area to stabilize the internet connection there.

Mine's Wi-tribe and it's not even close to the good ones. Haha. The bandwidth limit/cap is unfair. I don't know. It can be fast but once you have used up the cap, the internet slows down. Aand, when it rains, you'll have a hard time connection. I hope they make changes soon. PLDT is by far the best ISP. :)

Hi there! I heard about this Wi-tribe and as far as I know it's also from Globe, right? Oh yes,I really don't know why when it rains, the connection is really slow,oh my! Is it in a USB form?
• Philippines
12 Jun 11
I'm not sure if it's also from Globe. It says that it's from Liberty Broadcasting. They're planning to have the bandwidth limit removed. Hopefully they would. Uhm, there's no USB but you just need to connect it to the LAN. It does not have the wiring which PLDT has. It's like a wireless modem but connected to the PC. Hehe.

Hello, I'm from Romania and i use DTV MEDIA SAT internet provider, the internet speed is good but quality sucks! I download from websites with 10-11mb/s but when the weather is bad (rain, snow) the internet gets interrupted and by the way the customer support also sucks a lot, they said that they will fix the problem in few hours and sometimes takes few days or few weeks to fix a minor problem!!!

Hi Gratiani! Welcome here! You must be pretty 'cause Romanians are pretty, hehe! Oh yes,it sucks really when they repair it too long! Until now my connections are under repair so I'm still using my cousins ISP,good thing it is in a USB form, hehe! It's not that really good but I have no choice, hehe! See yah!

My internet provider is IInet here in Australia and I am quite happy with them. As far as I know they have quite a good reputation; I’ve been with them for three years now and so all is good. I had a provider before that and I had nothing but trouble. It took contacting the Ombudsman to get out of the contract.

yes this happens. In my view we are not able or we must not judge a provider merely by the speed it provides or the cost it asks for. we should judge the service provider on the basis of after sales service. No one take guarantee that a service will not be stopped ever but the thing is how long it will take to be in order.

When it comes to internet connections and service providers I have a lot I would like to say sometimes, but I refrane from doing so. I don't want to get into a long rant and possibly run out of room to type LOL. However, I will tell you about my current connection. Over the years I've bounced from one connection to another and back again. The reason was mostly money, the main reason for all things I guess, but I have to pay the bills. I know, I know. But, we all have to pay them I'm afraid. At any rate i'm getting a little off track. Current I'm with T-mobile as my cell phone and internet service provider. It has its flaws considering it's completely wireless (it uses the same network for its braudband service and its cell service) which can suck because so much trafic is used by both it can often slow the connection down. Sometimes without warning I'll get dis connected or the connection will run at a snail's pace. Sometimes if I position the laptop just right I'll get blazing speed, but like I said I have to position the laptop just right. outwardly I'm not too concerned, as long as I can make it work. Like right now it's behaving quite nicely and I've yet to get randomlly disconnected. However, that's not really that big of a deal, at least not to me. I've dealt with much worse over my lifetime so one failed connection is nothing to me. T-mobile has proven to be much better then others I've had though.

Well it's barely depend on your area/location not on ISP's, before you acquire/apply for an internet connection be sure to do a little research to those ISP's which one really works on your area specially those wireless broadband coz the far you are in the city the lesser the signal received is (so obviously lesser speed too), I guess the wired one works well :D. By the way I'm using smart bro and it's works well here in our area (a little bit on a mountain top LOL).

Hi kim! Welcome here! I agree with you,it really depends on the area where you at. I have no regrets with my current ISP as I'm quite satisfied with its speed,I just don't like their service when it rains in our place or if it's windy, for sure my net is affected, grrrr! So far, their technical services are quite good, they are assuring me from time to time that they are under the process of repairing it. See yah!
