Referrals!? UGH!

Hi guys,
Is there a particular place that you like to go to gain referrals to sites that you participate in... and can you get a lot of referrals from this place?
I am looking for somewhere to advertise sites I participate in, and get a lot of referrals... but I can't find a good place. Is there any places specifically for getting referrals?
I am having a really hard time getting referrals. No matter how much I try, I am lucky to get 1 a month!
If any of you have any suggestions at all for me, please feel free to respond! I need all the tips, info, and secrets I can get. :-) Please, tell me how YOU do it!

Hi there why not ask your friends and family and if that doesn't work try and promote your url on other websites maybe that will work for you try....um traffic swarm maybe that will work for you and good look! have a nice day i gotta get back to work lol

its great that you get referrals, until right now, i do not seem to be able to get any referrals to join me in mylot, its actually quite hard because, even if you get a referral, they need to be active for you to earn money from their posts, or else its just empty shell waiting to be deleted.
