Some say that there are more important things in life than money, but these are often people who do not have money. So, the question remains, are there more important things than making money?

Of course there are other important things in life.. Such as love, marriage, leisure time, having a family.. But if you think about it, money is going to lead you to those things in some way, so it in a way is a very important factor in life. I am not trying to imply that all people are gold diggers and go for the rich. But a rich person with a stable job is probably more appealing because you can count on them to provide for a family. Of course you would want your kids to be taken care of. There are people who are rich and miserable. Not saying money alone will make you happy. Most people do need atleast a little bit of money to live a normal life though.

It seems to be the general emotion on this question that money is not the most important thing in life. I am glad that people feel this way. I feel that we always say that money is not the most thing in life, but most of us do not act this way on a day to day basis. We are consumed with thoughts of money. I am not saying that it is not a good idea to plan ahead, I just think that we often get confused about keeping our priorities in line.

making money is important, because it's essential to survival and living. Family and friends is most important to me but money comes right after.

You sound like you are a man with your priorities in line. I appreciate that we do not live in a world where EVERYBODY is obsessed with making money above all else. I am glad to hear that you keep your family and friends above king dollar. At the same time, it is nice that you are not above admitting that money is still quite important to you.

Yes of course there are other things that are more important. I think that being healthy and my family (including my new puppy :) ) are the two most important things in my life. I really love making money but it is not the most important thing for me. Yes you need money to survive in life but there is so much more to life than money.

I agree with you on this one oscar. I do not have a family of my own, but I do understand why you would put family before money every time. I would certainly take my parents and my brother over any amount of money that could be given to me. That being said, money is still very important to me. I want to live a life that I have never gotten to live before. If I am able to do this, then I will have felt that I have done a lot to change my life for the better.

Hi there and welcome to myLot! Making money is one of the many important things in my life. It is not my primary importance as life itself is quite and far more important as with the lives of my children. Certainly I need to make money in order to have some happiness and or afford life itself. However, one has to balance making the money versus maintaining an enriched life. An enriched life does not mean having all the money in the world, because you see no amount of money would buy me the love of my children and or my own really.

Sorry that I never responded to this comment until now. I am glad that you put that last line in their. It is very important that we do always remember that there are certain things that money cannot buy. When we put money before those things, we are making a grave mistake. I am glad that you do not do this, and I hope that others follow in your footsteps.

hi kinglobster, No doubt money is the important thing in your life because you need to earn money to feed you & your family. There are many things which you cannot do if you don't have money like education of your children, medical treatment etc. But there are also other things which you cannot buy from money like friendship.love, affection, children etc.

I suppose that is exactly correct. I have heard arguments from others that money is the foundation on which you can get all of these other great things in life. Thoughts on this? Is it possible to have anything in life really without money?

Of course there are things more important than making money. But think of this, money is not every thing, but we can't do many things without money. Money can't make us happy. Of course they aren't. Many people have a lot of money, but they don't feel happy at all. Beside it, there are many people without money, but they happy with what they have, their life is full of happiness. What I want to say is money can't make us happy, but we need money for life. The more money we have, the more comfortable we get; the more comfortable we get, the more creative we are; the more creative we are, the more we contribute; the more we contribute, the more money we earn! ^^ I get this idea from Bob Protor. I think you should read some of his book, they really change your thinking of money!
