Fellowship, Food, and a Lizard

Ziggy the Chinese Water Dragon - Adopted from a reptile rescue agency, little Ziggy was nursed back to health by a good friend of our family. Here, he's resting quietly on my leg.

Today we had a lovely time fellowshipping with a man from Hubby's church, and another friend. We had a BBQ and had lots of fun playing with his pet lizard, actually, his Chinese Water Dragon that he got from some reptile rescue agency a few months back. Poor little guy he was found by one of the agency workers abandoned in some empty house, and he was injured as well, still can't feed himself but is doing very well otherwise. Our friend J has to feed him like a baby, and he's healthy, quite, and such a joy to our kids. (His name is Ziggy) The kids had so much fun picking him up and playing with him, and I had fun following everyone with my camera :-D Definitely not a shabby way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Sounds like an exciting day. I've had friends who have owned those types of lizards and they're really susceptible to changes in temperature. One had a power outage and the lamp didn't stay on, and sadly their lizard passed :( I don't know if I'd feel right keeping one, they are't exactly domesticated, nor should be (imho). Anyway, glad you enjoyed your Sunday!

Aww poor little bugger, well, Ziggy would not have survived if it weren't for J adopting him and feeding him all these months, it wasn't from a pet store or anything. I guess the owenr of the agency just likes reptiles and feels like they have a right to be rescued just like cats and dogs and the like.

It's good that he rescued it. I think it's fine when to keep something in captivity that wouldn't have means of surviving on it's own. What a great person to, most people wouldn't really care for a little green lizard :P

I think it's a lovely idea as well, it wasn't us who adopted the lizard but a family friend, but we might do that in a few months, depending on how things go here at home.

sounds like great family time. Poor Ziggy. I am glad he got rescued. I am not familiar with the Chinese Water Dragon. I have known people who had iguanas though.

It was a lovely time indeed, I myself considered going to the agency to "rescue" one but think to myself that I have too much clutter in my flat, now if I did another deep uprooting of stuff that I'm trying to detach myself from, then it's definitely a possiblity, Ziggy is actually very low-maintence, actually.

Poor Ziggy, but also sounds like Ziggy is being well taken care of. I am glad you had a lovely family fun day. Days like that are so memorable and fun. I hope the weather was good too, as here it is chilly.

Yep, I have 12 really nice pics on my facebook and still have yet to edit the video. The weather was a little cool, the sun was trying to peep out, so Ziggy was put on a little beanbag warming pad, and boy did he ever cling onto that for dear life, haha
