Mobile Suit Gundam

Mobile Suit Gundam is by far a great series that has spawned many good and not so good series featuring Gundam. The story line, characters and the mobile suits themselves are well developed and intricately created for viewer's enjoyment. I would have to say that Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed/Destiny are by far awesome. They have really cool artwork and theoretical concepts that go into molding them into the war machines that kick butt in anime. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on Gundam?

I was hooked into Gundam Wing since I was a kid and I also watched Seed and Destiny. I felt confused by OO's plot but I agree that the story was exceptional. The thing that I liked the Gundam series is that there is still man yreal human elements despite the mecha genre. Love all the protagonists, especially in the Wing Universe. In my opinion, nobody can beat Heero Yuy as an ace pilot in all Gundam Universe. The guy has this vulnerable, mysterious, serious aura that that I can't decipher. Course, there is still his mobile suit that packs a lot of punches.

Heero Yuy is by far one of the best Gundam pilots but there is debate that Kira Yamato may be even superior or even Amuro Ray with his new type abilities.

Well, gundam fans have their own favorite ace pilot. Through all the Gundam series, it is kinda expected that the ace pilots or any characters will be pitted against each other. I have seen forums where there is public discussion about which is the better mobile suit, the best pilot (and other bests) and I found they all have valid points. But I already had my favorite and that hasn't changed since I had encountered Heero Yuy. Perhaps, it's the same for a Yamato fan or Ray die-hard follower.

I've never seen Gundam, but I have seen those model kits. They look pretty cool to me! I've only seen Code Geass. Seems like a similar idea. Maybe I'll like it. By the way, nice first discussion! I saw you're new here! Must I say, you're doing very well here. Nothing to correct you on. And you even uploaded a picture! Hope to see you around!

I'm not a big fan of mecha but I've watched some before.. As for the Gundam series, I've only watched Gundam 00. It's indeed pretty good and personally I prefer the first season. I tried watching Gundam Wing but dropped it after a few episodes because I found female character damn irritating. I indeed to watch Gundam Seed/Destiny soon. If you like mecha series, you should watch Code Geass. I also recently finish this anime call Bokurano. It's a mecha series but the focus is more on the humans than the mecha battles. I personally like it. I'm now watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and liking it so far.

Of all the Gundam anime, I really loved the Gundam Wing series. The one with Relena, Heero and Trowa. Really cool. I got to see some other Gundam series, but nothing comes close to Gundam Wing (ok maybe the series with the country gundams).

Gundam Wing is one of my favorites. The endless waltz that came out to end the series was good but I kinda felt the changed the design on Wing Zero was not really needed or followed along with the main series. It was kinda cool looking but didn't appeal to me in a sense.

Gundam will and will always be one of the top mech animation of all times, it is already a timeless classic, people from any generation know or atleast have heard of it. Gundam 00 kicked back where Gundam Seed/Destiny lost its track. I'm not saying that Gundam Seed/Destiny sucks, story-wise its great, it is like a modernized remake of mobile suit gundam except they catered more towards the girls which I kinda hated. I'm not saying that Gundam 00 didn't cater to girls with the handsome guys, but it was a bit more subtle and the flow of the story makes you forget about that detail

Yeah. The nice thing with 00 was the high definition of the animation when it first came out. The concept of the solar furnaces to power the gundams is actually cool. With how the whole story played out in the two seasons that were introduced created a unique storyline and plot twist. Even though the main point of Gundam is to kick butt and destroy things with style.

I also am not into mecha, but Gundam is the only mecha-based anime i watch. The plot and character build get me close to Gundam. Sorry, but i don't care about the Gundam specification and such. But the theory of colonies, war, idealism, that is cool.

I agree! Mobile suit Gundam wing, 00 and seed/destiny are sure awesome gundam animes but I have to suggest watching Gundam Unicorn. It has a nice plot to it and a badass mech. In terms of cool artwork and theoretical concepts, try buying a full armor gundam unicorn model kit. You'll love it.

I like Gundam Wing better than other Gundam series. The story, characters and their Mobile Suit Gundam are great. I love character Quatre Winner and her Gundam, Sandrock, really amazing. This is one of anime that I love most! I won't get bored watching the anime. I read the manga, too.

The only mobile suit gundam series that I watched is Gundam 00. I like the story and and it is really interesting. At first, I don't want to watch it since I'm not into robot thing. But when I already watched the first few episodes, I became so hooked with the series.

Has anyone ever seen the original gundam? the very very first one (that almost flopped and almost got cancelled, twice?) Now if you simulate the nature of the show, you will need a lot of hankies

I really enjoy the Gundam franchise and like you said there have been both great and not so good series that takes place in a Gundam universe. I started out watching Gundam Wing when it first started its run on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block back in the days. My interest grew from there and I branched out to the older series like the original Gundam series as well as Zeta and such. I think my favorite would have to be 08th MS Team. It's the most realistic Gundam series so there's no flashy Gundams with superpowered techniques and capabilities. I also like Zeta Gundam for its storyline, Gundam Wing because it was the first one that I saw and G Gundam just because it's quirky and fun.
