the color of cats

I heard a spokesperson from a shelter state that the most popular color of cats was those with Siamese markings and the next were yellow cats. I never thought about this before, when I choose a cat I am looking for responsive cats, I want one that recognizes me and will come up for a rub or two. One of the best cat we ever had was pure black and they said black was the least popular.

My cats have all chosen me, two as strays, and one we were caring for for a young college person. I have always had the cats choose me. I have a beautiful black short hair, I have had two different tuxedo cats, I have a long haired cream tabby and a short haired cream tabby. I really like three color cats, either calico or tortoise shell. I had a Turkish Van, black and white. I never knew it was a breed until this year, I always just thought he was an odd cat with a distinct personality, turns out to be a character trait. They like water, and going for rides, and have thicker coats and usually are white, with a colored tail and then with occasional spots on their head said to be "the thumbprint of God" They come in red and white or black and white. I know that tabby is a dominant trait. I guess I just like them all.

I agree GardenGery, A cat has to chose you, if you do that youll have a great relationship. I base it on personality rather than color. Partially because I just love cats, no discrimination.

The adoption agency has specials on black cats because they tend to be less adoptable. Many people do look at how "pretty" a cat is rather than their personality.

These same fools miss out on so much because they are ruled by what they see not what they feel. Thanks

This is interesting. I would think Tabby's or Calico's to be the favorites. Or Gray. I know when I was growing up and owned cats, we had all kinds, but my most favorite was my cat named Adorable who was all gray, and quite a loving cat.

This is Jasper - My good kitty
I have a great cat named Jasper. He is very smart and knows a lot of the words I tell him. He is grey. Maybe not as pretty as some but he is mine and he is a good cat. So I don't care what color he is

Black cats have been least her as pets. Often times, when anyone comes across with them on the road, they avoid black cats because they say it is bad luck (and other superstitious stuff). Cats are very sweet once it's tamed. I have a cat before but my mom forbid me to have one since its fur was the reason why I suffered from bronchitis. I love cats and I love to pet a tom cat someday.

Of our two cats, we actually chose them for a combination of two things. The first thing was their temperment. We wanted cats that seemed like they were very happy cats. The second thing that we were looking for in our cats was their markings. Thus, we ended up with one black and gray and tan tabby cat (Buttercup), when we added another cat to our family after or Cornbread (a buff colored cat that adopted us) passed away we got Peaches (a muted calico).

Well, I have 4 black cats, Sassy, Scamp, Nef and Elizabeth. We have two pointed cats, Star (a Snowshoe chocolate) and Ronnie (a blue lynx point). The two pointed cats are feral, so we don't exactly get to cuddle with them, and Elizabeth makes those two look tame! Elizabeth has a brother and sister, Elmer and Emily, who are classic brown tabbies who are just as bad as she is. We have 4 black and white cats, Mo, Oliver, Flower and Blossom - Oliver is the kitten in my avatar, tho he's now pushing 6 years old. He was a bottle baby and all 4 are very tame. Besides Elmer and Emily, we have 1 other solid classic brown tabby (as compared to stripped or spotted tabbies) and a stripped one. We have 6 brown tabbies and white - one a classic and the other two stripped, and the oldest of them is also feral. We have a blue cat, a blue cream (dilute tortoiseshell), 2 tortoiseshells, a calico (tortoiseshell with white in some parts of the world) and a white cat. and then we have 3 yellow cats, one with white

It is the same expectations about cats here. The better breeds preferred are those siamese and persian stokes. I am not too keen on these feline pets as dogs have always been my favorite pets. Regarding black cats, many regard black cats as bringing bad luck so it is also not a popular choice here. I think cats have all the same characteristics and it is only the features in them that differentiate one from the other.

Hi, pat...I've had cats of all colors. I haven't chosen any particular color for my cats though as they've all wandered in and decided to live with me. Except for this last one which I got as a rescue and she just happened to be white with some red markings. I chose her as a rescue because of her back story. She has turned out to be most appreciative and settled. I've had two or three black cats and was never worried about the supposed bad luck they bring. All cats are loveable.

I haven't thought about that either. I would have thought the most popular was the grey tabby look. I have seen a lot of those. I usually look for personality too. I think that animals are like us in a lot of ways and personalities need to be compatible...lol.

I have always loved all coloured cats and i will say that as a child i was the one that always wanted a black cat.All my black cats that i have ever owned have all be very friendly and they have never cost me any thing when it comes to the vets, unlike all the other coloured cats that i have had.
