Hi mylotters, I have been living in Singapore since 2004 and have not thought of becoming a citizen yet, though you can say Singapore is very safe and clean and much better place to live than from where I came, but still I dont have the heart to be a citizen yet? What about you? Would you migrate to another country? What do you think of those people who stay away from their home country? Is there anything wrong in doing so?

TO be honest I am sick of all the people imigrating here. It is affecting our countries finances and so much more. Housing and job markets. You don't 'have the heart' to be a citizen? I would love to migrate to Ireland or Scottland. I am too old to go on such an adventure now but if I could have afforded earlier in my life I think I would have done so. I don't think there is anything wrong with it but it would certainly be different.

Well when people migrate or settle somewhere thats mainly because they like the place over there or it may also be the cause of jobs in other country.. I know people from my society where they have seetle to other country just because they have good job and well facilities that are not provided in our country. Migration to other country is no issue untill and when you know the complete enviroment of the place. Many a times it so happens that people they dont cope up with the changing. Surrounding that is one of the important cause of dieseases and stress. So lastly concluding on the topic it is indeed a pleasure to migrate and to know the country well.

I guess it depends on fate and circumstances. If there will ever be a time and a chance for me to travel and become a part of a certain culture, why not? Life is too short to give up opportunities and experience adventure. I think coming to another country is one of those life-altering moments. Different people, different surroundings and different cultures affect every individual differently. Some are able to adapt while others return home for many reasons. I think that some people leave their native country by two reasons - by choice or by pleasure. Those who are fortunate enough to leave their respective country without regrets are truly blessed but I feel sad for those who reluctantly have to leave their life behind for economic purposes. There is nothing wrong with leaving as long as it is for the best intentions and purposes.

Its just that we miss all the common things... I took for granted in my country when I was growing up there, and of course there are family members whom we miss too....

It depends in every peoples heart, if they live happily and feel content on their life in their home place, definitely and without a doubt, they will not migrate to other place. But if they not experiencing well in their home land, they will seek happiness and contentment in other place.

yes! maybe in the future, well i had a planned also to migrate to another country, like in CANADA or AUSTRALIA probably....for my opinion like me who want to migrate was because first to have a good job on the said country, i can bring my family also, and the opportunity waiting there, it does not mean that i was not loyal to my country if ever i want to migrate to another country,i am filipino and i am working here abroad for many years, i can't be a citizen here if ever they would give citizenship maybe ,i would change but it does not matter i would still be a filipino in my heart, and my home country is still Philippines

migration is happening for many years in world people goes into another countries when they don't have earningin they own country. Some people migrate to get good life. some people finds it safe to live in other country then thier own country. i am also a migrated from some other country. it is safe here . good maney too. hifi lifestyle as well. but i miss something from my own country so i go there once in 2-3 years. i think there is nothing wrong aboutit. You just need to adjust yourself withh different environment, culture, basically. All depend on the person's necessity.

Hi Kanaka! I feel that views and perception would differ on this issue. If you feel comfortable staying and working in a foreign country, there is nothing wrong in it. Everywhere, there are some plus points and minus points. In a country like Singapore, you get many facilities which you may not find in India, however, what may be missing over there is 'warmth' and 'affection' of our own relatives and friends. Even if there may be Indian friends, the closeness what we feel in India may not be there.

It is possible that you would continue to miss the closeness and bonding which you used to share with your relatives/friends, when you were staying in India.

Most of the time I have a positive thought when people migrate into another country. Usually it stands for a new chance and better life. Less people want to migrate into a worse country, don't they? I love China

Yeah of course, people want to migrate to better their life.. so obviously it should be in a country where they can lead their life peacefully, but they have to leave their friends and family members back at home... that's the sad part...

I never planned to migrate to any country in this near future. I have responsibilities here. But who knows in the future right? A friend of mine has been living in US since she graduated. She even get married to his boyfriend, whom also from my country and has a steady job there. She never dream of applying for US citizenship though. She said she'll stay there for a while and will return home in the future after finish paying her loan. I don't see anything wrong with that. People can make their choices, it's not for me to decide.

We can never plan for these kind of things, it just happens. My husband was working here before we got married, so after marriage I moved here and seems to be here happily too....

I have never thought about migrating to another country to live; I think America still is a decent people to live and so do a lot of other people from different countries; one of my college professor just made a comment, with no malaise intent, that if it were not for immigrants we would have pretty close to zero population growth. So, many people are still coming to America to find the "American Dream,p" even though it is getting more difficult to achieve. I have no problem with immigrants moving to another country to find a better way of life; it is their right and human instinct to find the best possible means to survive.I think, though, if I moved to another country for a better life, I would eventually become a citizen.

Hey migration is not bad. count on your people of your native country, don't they migrate from villages to city? Migration happens to everyone's life, some migrate to other city for jobs and for many other reasons so whats the problem if you migrate to another country for better living. Actually living anywhere is safe because its us the people make a place bad or good. So count which category you fall in. But as you main point is migrating and becoming citizen of that country then do it if it gives a better way to live life in better style.

I live in America and I wouldn't mind moving to another country such as England. As long as the country is safe and has a good standard of living then I'd be fine with living there. Of course it would have to be an English speaking country since that's all I know excluding a little Spanish. There's nothing wrong with moving to a different country.

There's nothing wrong with staying in a different country for a long time. What's wrong is staying away from your family for a long time. I also wanna visit other countries like Japan and France. They just built a lot of hype that I wanna know what the fuss is all about. I also wanna see Erika Sawajiri. She's just so gorgeous especially when she starred in 1 Liter of Tears. There's also Maria Ozawa, of course and a lot others. Plus, I'd love to visit all their tourist spots if I have time.

There is nothing wrong in doing this. My brother in law also works in Singapore and just recently he became a citizen already. He is just visiting us twice a year and he is successful in his job there. He can't earn what he's earning there in the Philippines so I think it is a good decision to stay there and just have time to visit us every year.

I have several relatives and acquaintances who have left the native country. My cousin who has been living in Great Britain for several years recently visited her home town. It is nice to meet relatives, but she is one of those people who feels better living in a different country because of better living conditions. I understand such attitude, but thinking about myself it seems impossible for me to be abroad for a long time. When I had spent three months far from my native country, I was really glad to return home although I wish to return to the country I have been again.
