problems in posting a discussion

I dont know what I'm doing wrong. I wanted to start a discussion in one of my interests but mylot keeps telling me that it is unable to post and I should be using letters, numbers and correct punctuation. I've been reading and re-editing my post over and over but it just wont let me start. It would be great if this one gets posted. Help! If anyone could give me their advice.

There are certain characters and combinations of characters which aren't accepted by the posting form (you cannot include HTML code enclosed by angle brackets, for example). There are also a number of words which it will not accept, though it usually tells you what the offending word is and asks you to change it. If you are using a non-English keyboard, there may be Unicode characters which it regards as 'illegal' (though usually these just reproduce as question marks). DO use correct and accepted punctuation. DON'T use excessive punctuation (for example, long strings of question marks, exclamation marks or periods/full stops). Besides being against the Guidelines: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx it tends to make your discussion look quirky and unreadable.

Hehe, SIMPLYD. I don't know about "genius" but you can rub my lamp any time "Techie" ... well, maybe. I was just an or'nary second-hand bookseller till I was 50 (yes, quite ornery, sometimes!). Then I took a course in Computer Studies (just out of interest) and ended up spending 15 years in Software and User Support.

Thanks owlwings for that information on how to change into mature content. I have been trying to discover how to do it, since i was told to but just cannot because i don't know how. Now, thru your link, i was able to do so. As usual, owlwings ,your really a genius and a techie. Thanks again!

Thank you! I believe that is my problem. I usually make very long sentences with a lot of punctuations.

My very rough calculations say that about 20% of discussions are deleted because of Guideline violations AFTER they have been posted! It is always worth reading and following the Guidelines! In this case, however, it is nothing to do with the Guidelines but, apparently, something to do with unacceptable characters or words (of which there is an unpublished list!).

hi gwapamei I think its a sort of mylot glitch as it has happened t o m e several timss then I go for months without that happening. I got the sameidentical message .so I went on to something else, came back ten minutes later and had no problem at all. My discussion had no thing wrong with it at all so it had to be a glitch. I notified mylot admins with hitting contact, then scrolling down to the word other and telling the admins what the problem was I was having.they responded later and I have not had that same problem again since my contacting them.

It happened to me before, what I did was hit the post button again and it's posted. You can also wait for a few minutes before you hit the post button, sometimes it do happens.

Well, i also encounter this problem. So, i would review what i typed and change those words that are underlined in red , into other softer words. Then, it would be accepted as submitted. Try to review first what you are posting, because it might be violating their guidelines.

Perhaps you put something wrong there and do it wrong by putting wrong sentences or wrong punctuation, don't put adults material here to coz my lot check it. My suggestion is just refreshed it and try to write again

welcome gwapamei. i've encountered this problem several times already. all i did was to refresh the page then try to post again. if after several times and still won't post, i close the window altogether and retype the day after (i couldn't copy paste yet, that's for 500+ standing). i think it's not about what you typed, but the traffic problem in mylot, same as too slow when loading in certain times of the day. anyway, i hope you enjoy your mylotting.
