Sadie's creek story

I don't believe I did it. I got in the creek, now I hate water, but my friend Snoops is a Lab and they have no sense, if there is water she is in it. We were playing on the creek bank, find the stick and she was ahead of me, I think Dad throw the stick in the creek and Snoops was going to get it, I just couldn't let that happen and into the creek I went. I got the stick, but Dad said I had the funniest look on my face and he had to wade in to show me how to get out. I shook all that awfull water off, but big mouth Dad told Mom all about it when we got home, so she stuck me in the tub to rinse the creek off. Twice WET, just because I forgot and chased the stick. Now I have to sleep all afternoon, it's just to much for a hound dog.

Most dogs I've seen love the water. Maybe you just haven't had enough experience in it, you think? During the hot weather, instead of creeks and rivers, I've seen dog people get their 'kids' a little swimming pool to help them keep cool. You might like that when the time comes. That way you won't have to nasty, stinky creek wet.

I set up a pool for myself last year. My cat thought it was a giant water dish and tried to drink it all.

Bet the cat didn't try to swim though, huh?

Your cat is so fun, GardenGerty! Did she (he? ) try to drink it all in a day or she worked on it until it was finished?

Again we have to learn to be careful what we wish for, now we can't keep the darn dog out of the creek. The parents

Oh, poor Sadie, as if one time was not enough. Of course we cannot have you hanging out and smelling like a creek. Have a wonderful nap.

Stories like this really make me miss my hound. We had to have her put down last week because of old age and she also had a tumor on her mouth. With that said, Michela never did like the water at all. We had opposites with our dogs, you couldn't get Michela into the water, but our other dog, Jasmine loves the water to the point that when we take her over to my mother's house she will scale the side of the above ground swimming pool or climb the ladder so she can go for a swim.

I am so sorry you lost your beloved hound. I hate that part of pet ownership but am willing to put up with my sorrow to enjoy the wonderful love of pets.

Miky, - Im a black Labrador and I have my own couch!!
Awww you poor baby having to be washed all over again. I would have hated it. I always shake when Im having a bath. You were very brave to jump in the water like this after your friend Snoops. Well Im a Lab also and I dont like water at all. Mom and dad try to convince me to go in the pool but I dont want to. Maybe its because they have to wash me right after all over again. Geez, sounds like we can never win!! Next time Snoops goes into the water, tell him he shouldnt go and that you wont go with him. Stick to your grounds!! lol Woof Woof xx

Uncle Shad swimming - I think the vest looks cool on him!
Oh, Sadie, I know what a nuisance can our Moms be when they want us to be "clean". I haven't had any experience with swimming in the water until now because my Mom is afraid the water could enter my ears and I could develop a nasty ear infection. She always tells me stories about her previous dog who suffered from a rebel ear infection for months only because they went swimming in the river. I don't know if I would like swimming but I have an uncle that complains about this. He doesn't like water either but his Mom insists in taking him to the lake to swim. She says he is going to cool down in the water but he's not interested in swimming at all. He hates water but what to do when our Moms want "the best" for us? His mother even bought a life vest for him. He's so embarrassed because of that vest but I think he looks cool with it. Below you got a picture of my uncle Shadow with his life vest on. Love, Binne

The picture you sent showed your uncle with his head well out of the water, maybe if you had a life jacket it would make Mom feel better about your ears. Thanks

Even if I found the vest looks cool on uncle Shad, my Mom said it is a silly thing to make a dog wear a life vest. Maybe I'll convince her to take me to some place good for swimming, because I started to like the idea of swimming.
