EVERY American should do their part?

This is what President Obama tells us. Do your duty, do your part. Obama was summoned for jury duty. I know that a President should not be sequestered for three weeks while the country goes to hell. BUT the White House notified the court that Obama would not make it, no reason was given. Odd situation eh? Actually no, Rudy Giuliani made news in 1999 when he spent a week as the foreman of a jury while still mayor of New York. Those who served on the jury with him later reported that Giuliani was remarkably “unpretentious and friendly.” PoliticsDaily notes George W. Bush was also summoned while in office, but was “let off the hook.” However, former President Clinton was actually prepared to sit on a jury for a case involving “a gang-related shooting” back in 2003, but the judge dismissed him. http://www.mainstreet.com/article/moneyinvesting/news/obama-ditches-jury-duty I think if he is expecting us to step up and do our duty, shouldnt he? I just think he could have handled this better. He could have skipped a round of golf and appeared himself to get excused.

I'm gonna give him a pass on this. While I admire Clinton for being ready to serve on the jury and Guliani for actual serving...I think a quick note from Obama or his staff saying "Kinda busy at the moment, can't make it" would be sufficient.

I agree, it was his handling of the situation that I was pointing out.

My wife taught Developmentally Disabled students and the Judge dismissed he at once saying she was needed there more than in court. Lots of people get excused from jury duty. No big deal.

Obviously a sitting President could not sit on a jury. But there are some questions that arise from this situation. Who the h3ll sends out those summons and don't they even look at them first? And what I get from you OP is that Obama, as usual, appears to not have a clue as to what many people actually think of him. He could have used this as an opportunity for some good PR, but instead he shows that he doesn't relate to the mood the country is in and appears to be so disconnected from it that it makes you wonder if he really does care. I'm sure his supporters will find a way to not see it that way. But in times of crisis most presidents have at least tried to appear as if they care and send a message of 'HOPE' to their people. He doesn't even realize that he's made many people loose hope, that there is a need for some good PR and so, missed an opportunity to connect with the people.

Are you serious? Obama should be permanently sequestered in prison. He IS doing his duty to destroy and subjugate this country. He is above the law, remember? BTW, I just got finished with my obligation to jury duty.
