I am sorry Phil. Navy, you don't stand a Chance :(

Hamilton class - the so called future of the navy (meh!)

Hello Lotters. I hope you don't make a negative impression on me regarding this. Even though i love my country so much and willing to go toe to toe with any future invader, i could honestly say, the Navy doesn't stand a chance. That's because corruption has ruined the Army, Navy and Airforce a chance to have at least the slightest advantage in Modern military warfare. all those corrupt Generals has squandered the money, leaving our defense a lot weaker than before.. Sure, they can brag about the so-called largest Phil. Navy ship Raha Humabon, which is actually a third hand ship that was once held by US navy, then Japanese navy then sold of to us. in all honesty, that SHIP is a nice target for a even for regular attack submarine. and CHINA has submarines. So, now there had been on-going reports that they are in process of finally purchasing ANOTHER RETIRED decommission ship, which is the Hamilton class Ship.well, that's nice but would have been better if it was purchase in the 90s, but it's 2011 NOW! and what significance does it make with bigger ships if they got submarines and high tech planes. I totally agree with the Experts..Sit down and Talk instead. Makes me feel ASEAN being useless knowing i don't feel the support coming in from our neighbours..always U.S. Have a nice day.

Hey, Letran. Despite I know how you feel and I agree with you, I can't help not to tease you a bit: No really, China have subs? Do you really, but REALLY have ever think to stand against China, military? Just think to this: Usa, Japan, China, all 3 are actually working together in that area (you may include SK too). And as Phils always were under US protection ... why would they wwant a powerfull phils nation (military talking) while the interest is to have a Phillipines willing to ASK FOR US HELP. So that US and allies to be ones IN CONTROL. And yes, help will come from US, eventually. If any help ever come. Any kind, military, economical, whatever (except natural disaster situations which is another story). You can live with, you can stand against, you can ignore it. Coruption will still be there and Phil's navy will for ever be at least one decade behind. As well as at least half or 3/4 of the world wide countries. For you, the Big Brother is US. For others is UK, or China, or Russia and so on. You can only hope that - undergroud - your govt is doing something to balance this. Or, if you do not trust this is possible, you may try to start something going on underground and remain secret ... Or try to make others to ee the truth. Warning! "Playing" with truth can be dangerous for health .. very dangerous.

Hello Vmraul, HOW ARE YOU BUDDY! nice of you to be alive once again[em] Yes they do buddy, they have it for a very long time. otherwise, how on earth would they have the guts to bully the Philippines now for having a little superiority on the water territories. i can't ignore it because they have never been this aggressive. putting some barricade into the islands near palawan island is another wrong thing to do with them. No, there is no underground, there's always corruption. i'd rather die and fight than hide until the war is over. i'd feel guilty my whole life surviving cowardly while my country is being occupied by new invaders.. i don't understand what you mean by playing with the truth? that is the truth in the discussion. not a referral link. http://colonel6.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/chinese-submarine1.jpg

hehe, nice to see you too, bro Le'me axplain: Underground - mean in secret, not to hide in caves ... Some secret negociations, some secret treaties .. You never know how strange is the world of "underground" and what impossible aliances are made there ... Corruption? Sure, everywhere. ANYONE AND EVERYTHING is for sale. The very few are not ... well, anybody can catch a cold and die because of that ... Playing with the truth is a very dangerous "sport". I know somebody from India few years a go was making big waves against Monsanto .. He practically dissappeared after a while If you start saying the truth loud and louder, for a time nobody will do nothing against you, you'll just be "marked", somewhere somebody will made some files .. But if you start being TO annoying and start being listened by people ... then you must cover your back and be very carefull ... Anyway, if there are terrorists and state can not handle - that is because state DO NOT WANT to trminate them. Ther are a threat against civils and state will promise to protect .. just be sure you'll vote them on next elections ...

Hello sis, well, it's the corruption of the armed forces, Navy and airforce to blame. no, i don't think people power is recognized in china, the chinese people tried to imitate us once but the Tienanmen massacre proves that it failed. i think armed conflict is the solution if in case they attack. besides, we got friends that are also superpowers.

Hmmm okay. I would like to agree with you. We do not stand a chance, with the Chinese or with any other countries army here in Asia. We do not stand a chance really when it comes to battles such as this. Yes our military has fought with rebels and rebels alone rowing guess Olson country has to put an end to this. Our government has to know and understand that this is an issue that we have to resolve. We have to already start thinking about our future and how we would be able to defend whatever is ours. Now if we are only to rely on the bigger countries that will give aid. Them i is such a pity!

Nobody was disagreeing that the best recourse in the Spratlys issue right now is diplomacy. Peace instead of conflict. However, that should not mean China will be able to enter our 200 km territory and take whatever they want. We are still a country right? We want peace, but if somebody invades our land, that means they dont respect our sovereign right as a nation. That means they look down on us as nothing but cowards, that they can trample upon and swept aside with impunity. That means we are good for nothing people, and it will give credence to racists who say Filipinos dont have backbones. I can assure you...nations who are united in defending their homeland, no matter what ideology they believe, will emerge a winner. China have superior firepower, but what they lack is righteousness. All they have is greed, and if they open fire on our defense forces, it just meant they dont have any morality at all to become the new superpower as some predicts they will be. We have friends who believes in democracy, and that it is something that China's billions of dollars in reserve cannot bribe.

"We have friends who believes in democracy," I like that, that is why the Philippines despite it's meager resources had always fought side by side with freedom and peace loving allies, be it direct combat or peace keeping missions in some far flung , war torn nation that few of us have heard about to a small number of medical personnel, we always contribute our share to the International community whenever, wherever we are called upon to do so, " Mabuhay and Pilipinas" (long live the Philippines) , just pray that fear and business interests do not take front seat.

hold on a bit knight my friend, "I am sorry Phil. Navy, you don't stand a Chance" well who does? Ask any of of our ASEAN neighbors, maybe even powerful NATO countries would not want to go on a slug fest with China toe to toe if they have to do it alone., It's just by strike of bad fate that we are in direct confrontation with them because of the Spratly issue. So it is in the best of our interest as well as of the world to settle this calmly and peacefully but that does not mean that you and I are cowards or anything. Now sending the BRP Raja Humabon is just but SOP for any Navy, send the best you have at your disposal in a hot spot that the government deems, yes it's a sitting duck but it's SOP and a natural reaction. About the Hamiltons, who would think that would stop the Chinese navy? No we purchased it simply to increase our capabilities like search and rescue operations(SAR)and maybe to keep those sneaky foreign poachers out of our territory or deterrent for those multi engine vintas. It is equipped with helicopter hangars that we never had before , and BTW we also purchased 8 new Sokol W3 helicopters from Poland, the same Myanmar and the Czech republic is using, this is significant because it is one of the purchases we made besides the United States, 8 probably for the 8 Hamilton, our MD 520 from the U.S. are also being configured for night capabilities. Ever saw this in the past Administration? will it deter China? Definitely not but it's an upgrade of capabilities, it's like your changing to a faster connection that's why I see you here more often now and you can make more. It's all about upgrade like pentium 3 to pentium 4 but not really to multi core like what I am using right now. It's just that my friend, think of how the international community would react if any of those gets blown up, perhaps people like underdogs. Bottom line is we just upgrade which is long over due and it's not there to match them toe to toe or create more tension, the world has had enough of this, peaceful solution is still the best option

Hello louievill, Those SOKOL choppers didn't impress me one BIT! but we need it because of the rescue missions that the military and navy is going to conduct with in case is of future disasters. Not to mention China as it's own Nuclear and missle programs. they already have Nuke Missile Submarines that can launch to attack land. yeah, i guess we should consider hte peaceful solution. maybe we should just give them the spratleys, and move on to much more expensive clean energy that would save the environment
