I'm a senior nursing student now and concentrating on my subjects are really my problem since first year.I usually study around 10-11 at night but I don't think it is enough for me to pass the nursing board examination next year.I'm alone in my apartment and I have really lot of things to do here.I prepare foods, wash my cloths, clean my room and other works to do when your alone. It consumes my time and energy as well.Another problem is I was a chess addict.I always play chess online on my computer it was my passion and I can't stop myself playing.I will be happy and thankful to see your comments and advice.

Hi Malingkatka! So, you are a graduating student? That will be tough as a nursing student. I am a Nurse, and i remember my seniors year in nursing school was a tough life. First of all you have to be good in time management, RLE (duty) eats your time and the requirements too, plus the things you do for yourself (washing, cooking, and etc) I suggest cut this time half, maybe you also cut half of your time playing chess, get rid of the things that distracts you. At this point in time, i think you have to divide your time wisely. Use SMART in your life.. remember in Nursing process? I think you are new here in mylot, welcome aboard! Enjoy the site.

I am a woman! Anyway, I wish you all the luck in the future, keep it up and be a Nurse by heart. Remember always that whatever career you end up with, you have to have a heart on it.

My question is what do you want? I am a Physical Therapy graduate but never did good in the board exams because I wasn't putting too much time and effort on it knowing that there is a job waiting for me at my dad's business. I was weighing between going out of the country to work and earning big there missing friends and families, and helping my dad here and not missing friends and families. I finally chose and accepted the job from dad's business. I got a warehouse type of work not earning so much then but with time, patience and perseverance I say I'm earning more than enough now if not bigger than my PT classmates and without missing friends and families. I am now in the accounting department and of course I'm trying to learn accounting too, reading books and downloading podcasts about accounting in order to survive in the department. Bottom line is what do you want? If you want to beat the world's best chess player then by all means play that online chess game til you drop. If you're passionate about serving patients then stop playing chess. It's a matter of discipline on your part. Stop the chess game for awhile, anyway you can get back to it after the board examinations. What do you want for yourself in the near future?

You can study while listening to music. I've heard you'll do better when studying with music and hours before sleeping.

I think that everybody has trouble studying when they are students, however it is important that you don't let yourself down. You should make an audit of your time, and write down exactly how you spend every minute of your time during a day. By doing this, you will see what you are wasting your time on and what you could probably cut out of your day, meaning that you would have a lot more time to study. Remember, there is a lot of time for you to relax when you have finished your exams, so don't get too stressed about having to work hard just for a little bit longer.

Remember that your education is a treasure at the end of all your effort. Concentrate in your studies. Manage your time properly, always give time to your studies no matter what. Leave your chores if necessary to face your priorities which is in your school. As you play chess, you do not notice that time is passing and the time you consumed in playing that should have been directed to what is more important, that is also one of the reasons why you are trying to put all chores to a very little time left in a day. You are near success, do not just junk the years you have spent in being a senior student now. Have limitations to all your aggressiveness, discipline yourself because nobody can help you if you fail. You can have all the time in playing chess but that is when you finish your studies.
