If given only 2 choices, would you rather travel by airplane? or by boat?

Some would choose the boat because if something goes wrong we could jump ship and swim all the way to the islands but then the others would argue that we should also consider the duration of time. Traveling by boat eats up much travel time hence a bigger possibility of an untoward incident, whereas the plane only eats up a little travel time and so it follows that there will only be a little possibility of untoward incident. What is your opinion on this?

For an acrophobia like me, airplane is not an option. I never to ride on a plane but it's my dream to really ride someday just to conquer my fear and anxiety about this thing. I travel only for hours using boat or ferry but not very far and yes, it takes time and makes me puke all the time..grrr..I wish there is teleport! hahaha..

I've seen somewhere in Cable TV - History channel or National Geographic, they've made tiny little atoms travel through time. Hope someday they can make people time travel or teleport.

Statistically, flying is the safest way to travel so I would rather go by plane. Travel time is also a consideration especially when going abroad. I can't imagine going to other countries by boat! How long would that take?

how about cruise ships - the big ships - the floating hotels with pools on them, and/or amenities like that of a hotel? I won't get bored with those kinds of boats. :)

I guess like in titanic, one wouldn't get bored if in the company of a rose or jack... Cruise ships would be romantic I guess. I still prefer flying especially for intercontinental trips.

I would choose to travel by plane because it is my second favorite way to travel. That is because it is fast and can go right over to the other side of the world very easily. I don't like traveling by boat when the sea is rough. To go by sea in a ferry takes a lot time. My favorite way to travel is my train then I get to see lovely scenery and it is an enjoyable journey much more comfortable than by bus.

I have never travel out site my country before, and i have never been on a plate are boat before. But the fastest way i think would be the airplane, the boat would take days to reach that particular place. Most people who i know take a boat is when they are going on a cruise, but if you want to reach fast the airplane is the best way. After reading this discussion i think its take for me to learn to swim ,in case i ever go on a boat..lol

I always travel by plane than boat.I just travel by ship once and hope I don't have to do it again. It just makes me feel dizzy and it consumes so much time.It also poses a lot danger for someone like me who doesn't know how to swim.

Hi! I think I would choose to travel by boat. I know how to swim so there's a chance for me to live if ever something goes wrong. If I board an aircraft, there's a slim chance of it crashing on water so my chances to survive is also slim. Plus, even if the aircraft "safely" crashed down, there's the possibility of it exploding so chances of surviving slims down further.

I have been traveling most of the time. Our country has around 7 thousand islands and due to the nature of my work, I travel a lot. In my case, I do most of travels by plane since I save a lot of time. I only travel by boat if there is no available flight heading to a certain area.

Hi kar, I love the sea, being born on a coastal town. I would like to travel by a boat, the one that can stand the biggest wave and can travel with an automatic piloting system across the oceans. I wish to own one, in fact, a cabin cruiser with all the amenities of home like a bathroom, a kitchen, and all electronics in between. It would be prefect to have Styx blasting on the stereo speakers with "I'm sailing away...." as I set out for the open sea.

I would definitely go by airplane. I love flying, and for me the flight is part of a vacation, not just a means to reach my destination. Also, you should consider that "jumping from a boat and swimming" won't really save your life - you would probably drown in a few minutes or die from hypothermia or you could be attacked by a shark. There weren't many survivors after the Titanic sank. Of course surviving a plane crash is even more difficult, but we cannot give up flying just because "something could go wrong". Everything could go wrong in life, but this is not a good reason to stop living, is it? Airplanes are much safer than any other means of transportation, as statistics tell us, and they're also inspected more oftern, their components are regularly replaced with newer ones and they're flown both by experienced pilots and extremely accurate computers. Besides, I think a ship leaving the dock isn't nearly as exciting as an aircraft leaving the ground after an accelerated takeoff run... but this is just my opinion. :)

By plane. I have a fear of big bodies of water. And so I prefer going by plane, train, bus, or car to anywhere. Boats and any other vehicle driven on water makes me dizzy too.

I think I would rather go by boat or cruise because if something were to happen to a plane I would have little chance of survival. I know plenty of people will bring up the Titanic, but really travelling by cruise or boat is safe and fun. Unlike airplane flights, taking a cruise or boat generally provides some sort of entertainment included in the trip plan. I wouldn't mind the travel time difference unless it was something urgent I needed to attend.

In this competitive world nobody has the a lot of free time.I usually prefer tavelling by plane rather by boat.In a single day we can reach at multiple places and a lot of time is saved which can be used in doing other constructive work.If i am going on a small journey i would also like to travel by boat as it gives us a chance to enjoy nature especially when the surrounding is beautiful for example in kerala.

Prefer to travel by plane because for one its much faster than a boat. Im really scared of boas and boating accident. I cannot swim although i went to summer camp once for a whole summer to learn how to swim and didnt even come out knowing how to float ontop of water. Basically im just frightened by the ocean and what it could do especailly to someone like me who cant hold up her own in water.

As someone who do not like flying, I rather take a boat. That's why I one day wish to do a long around the world cruise....with all my books packed in a suitcase, and the opportunity to stop in so many countries, I won't get bored. So I will take boat over plane any day...

I fear both! I don't like to travel by boat because I really fear being in the midst of the sea. I fear flying also so that leaves me with no other option but to travel by car. For this reason my travels using boat or airplane have been very, very limited.

I'm not a huge fan of planes. They're nice because they get you to your destination quickly, but they're often crowded and you have to stay in your seat majority of the time. If you're flying overseas, you could be sitting there for a really long time. I think a boat can give you more freedom. It also seems more adventurous to me.

Ahh..I definately will go with the plane option. Air travel is definately the quickest and also in the last few years has become the safest mode of transportation. Air travel gets you to your destination on time and also saves a lot of time compared to other modes of transportation. There are many people who fear travelling by air but honestly there is nothing to be scared of. Many wonder what will happen if there is an emergency while you are in the air some 35000feet above ground. Well with modern science and a lot of research and development air travel has become the safest in todays world and many opt for this mode now.

Hi, karagala, generally speaking, i prefer traveling by boat than by airplane if i do not rush to time, and after all, i think the probability of accident is very small...well, have a nice time myotting...^.^...
