How much do cigarettes cost in your area? Graphic pictures on smokes!

They are talking about putting graphic pictures on cigarettes to stop people from buying them. Not a good thing to start smoking. But I have been smoking for many years and was wondering how much smokes cost where you live? Here they are for a cheap good tasting smoke about 2.60 a pack! And some times you can find them a little cheaper. Do you smoke? Did that warning on the pack make you think twice about smoking? Would you not have started smoking if it had a picture of lungs on it that showed them in bad shape? Will these pictures slow smokers down?

hi free_man I dont think thwse will really slow smokers down. I only smoked for a few years from 21 to 26 and then stopped as I found it too expensive even if you roll your smokes yourself which I did with a little machine. LOL.

Hi RitterSport. That would be a good way to stop smoking. It was good that you thought of the others at that Christian retreat. You got a kind heart! Glad you could quit.

hi free_man back then with 26 I gave up smoking for the second time when I was succssful. Main reason was that I was going to a Christian retreat with lots of teens at that place in England so I thought thats no good idea being about 10 years older than they are and smoke first then pray. I then didnt throw the cigs out from one day to the next but stopped graduall. It was 10 a day so I decided one week 10 next week 9 and so on till I could stop and my body got used too to less and less nicotine.

Lucky you! Here it's up to $14.00 a pack, sometimes you can buy a pack of newports for $10.50, but that's if you're lucky haha. I know all about the warnings on the pack that make normal people think twice about smoking. I would have still started smoking if it had a picture of the lungs on it that showed them in bad shape, because when I started smoking I instantly felt a big weight off my shoulders and became involved with a crowd of people that settled my min from stress. I think the picture will slow some smokers down, but as for me (not the pack a day smoker) it'll just come off as something I'll chose to ignore for now.

Hi Belonephobicgirl and welcome to my lot. Wow that is a lot of money to spend on a pack of smokes. I seen one response about 10 bucks a pack and I thought that was bad. Where do you live? I live in Missouri and we can still get a pack for under 3 bucks. Your right the pictures won't affect many smokers we will just plain ignore them and still light one up. Wish I had never started though and if I could I would quit but still not in that frame of mind. It does seem to relax me when I get stressed out.

I live in NYC, and yeah I think it's the most expensive cost in the states, because of the highest amount of tax added.

I do not think that these graphic pictures would even matter to most smokers. I just finished my anatomy class and there are a great deal of smokers in there who would learn the human lung and smokers lung and then take a break to light one up! I am not a smoker but my boyfriend is. I know he pays about $4.50 for USA GOLD and his aunt and grandparents pay $6.50 for a pack of Marlboros.
