i was at the dentist's clinic this morning and had to wait because the long list of appointments. i was served at 2pm. she took my blood pressure but she said i must be tensed because it shoot up to 170/90. i said i was a little nervous because it was ten years ago when i had my last tooth extraction. made me wait for a while for me to "calm down". then took another b/p. it lowered down to 150/90. and i was insisting that can take it. she said she is going to give me anesthesia and then take the b/p again. she said if it doesnt normalize, she will have to postpone it and she will require that i bring a medical clearance next time i go asking for a tooth extraction. well, it didnt lower. she said she is afraid i might bleed non stop if she continues. had to pay Php50 for the anesthesia though. well, i didnt get what i wanted. and i know the my doctor will again make me do lab tests before she writes down the clearance. it is just frustrating. tooth ache makes me suffer. should i go to other dentists to have it extracted? ann

I believe your dentist just did what's proper. Don't be stubborn! LOL. Seriously, you have to believe that dentist, and she's not refusing to give you what you want with no basis at all. She actually have the valid reason why she won't pull that out. Just bare with it, and next time, don't get too nervous. Chill. God bless. See ya. chuyins

Yeah, sometimes we have to be reminded not to be stubborn. I hope now it's no longer aching, and you could actually have another appointment with your dentist again.

I would be very pleased by this service, for whatever reason she is taking good care of your health. I am not at all sure a Dentist here would do this.

Sweety I know you are afraid of injections, when i was in your home in 2004, you refused to take injections when you had fever, instead you took pills, you admitted that you were AFRAID of injections, i wonder how could you get the anesthesia injected!! Your doctor is right, here too doctors advise for x'ray, blood tests to assure there is no diabetes; there are instances where the bleeding doesnot stop after the extraction.. Another factor, if doctors don't send patients to labs for tests, how the labs will survive? Kidding dear!! So be a good girl, get the tests done, it is for your good. Last week i got 2 of my teeth extracted, no tests were needed, because i go to that private clinic always, my tests are done, and they have my medical file there.. Well here in the mall, you can see 'traditional tooth pullers', sitting on roadside, they do the job nicely, no tests nothing, they apply some herb after extraction, they don't have any degree, but learnt the art from father, grandfather.. The doctors charge 200 rupees for one tooth, but they do for just 20 rupees!! Come here next time for extraction with your hubby.. Thanks for sharing God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘@Bhuwan@’. .

dearest professor, actually i closed my eyes just to have that anesthesia injected. i didnt look at the injection too. and i had my brother come inside the room - just for moral support. then it is going to be another lab test for me. uhhh i am tired of it. but anyways, i was just stubborn. yes, i need to have them. tooth pullers on the streets are not allowed in our city. firstly, they are not licensed and secondly, it is not hygienic. i wonder why there are still people who trusts them. and ohhh! just thinking how much it would hurt when they pull - goodness! no anesthesia! no way i will have my tooth pulled there. thank you for making me laugh. ann

I would never stand for that. I would just go to another dentist and get the problem taken care of. I would make a few appointments with a few dentists and see which one can take me as soon as possible. Or you can go to the hospital and tell them that the pain is to much to handle. Also I would tell them that I have an infection, that way they will be more willing to do what it takes to get it fixed.

hello inertia, i really wanted to have the tooth extracted but i was also thinking of what's going to happen next if really i get to bleed none stop. my doctor have told me about it before and she advised that i make sure that the bp lowers down. i have taken the prescribed medicine religiously but i guess it needs something much stronger. why, the bp only gets to a low of 130 or 140, not lower than that. anyways, the tooth wasnt hurting when i went to the dentist thats why it was okay. thank you for your encouraging words. ann

Ann..Ann..Ann........The dentist did the right thing for your safety. Can your tooth not be repaired? Can you get some pain killers from your doctor until you go to the dentist again...And since you brought up this subject, I was walking down a street in city proper with my wife and I saw a man at a table with a bunch of teeth sitting on top of the table. I asked her what he was doing and she told me he pulls teeth. I said are you kidding...right here on the street...no pain relief? She said yes right there he pulls them. Hmmmm...well it's an option lol Hope you feel better soon.

hi dennis, actually it did hurt about 4 days ago. i took pain killer and it was no longer hurting and i thought it to be the right time to have it pulled. i didnt want to wait for it to hurt again and would rather want it to be extracted than repaired. guess i was just stubborn and wanted to have my way. well, as you can see, it didnt pay. i have seen that street dentists too but they are being rounded up by police here. i guess that is why they are in your place. ann

No, my dear, try some thing else for the tooth ache. Oil of cloves is highly recommended to alleviate tooth ache. Just try it and see if you get some relief. Another nonconventional treatment - mix a few drops of whisky/rum in your toothpaste and then rub that on the teeth with your finger, every half an hour, 3 times. You are surely to get relief. It is a treatment of my trial.

hi tigeraun wow an with a tooth ache.my gosh did not she realize that pain will cause our blood pressure to go up too, also blood sugar which is okay if you are not diabetic . I have never had a dentist check my blood pressure, thats odd, maybe she is just super cautious. If it were me and I was really hurting I would find antother denteist and have that painful tooth yanked out.Ann pain like that will make blood pressure go up too. getting rid of the painful tooth will have it go down.

hi hatley, i am hypertensive, am not sure if i am diabetic already. it runs in the family. i guess for my age, doctors are cautious about what pills to take, what not do do and overdo.. things like that. the dentist was cautious as well. i know they are doing their job well. i was just stubborn at that time. but you know, i was thinking of going to another dentist that day, only it was already late when i left her clinic, and i am sure there will be no dentists available anymore around 4pm. they would have cut off taking in patients. guess, i have to have the tests done and the doctors certificate. it is a must. ann

Your dentist a good and responsible one. You should be happy because she didn't compromise your own health just to earn bucks. She was concern about you that extracting your tooth didn't crossed her mind not unless you're not that scared enough for the injection. What I mean, try not to be afraid so that you can have your aching tooth be extracted as much as possible. ^_^

Well I know from experience that when you are in pain or afraid your blood pressure goes up and I mean it goes up high. That is why I usualy get a clonzapam or have them give me a valium. I never knew what they were giving me when I was a teen and this little blue pill. It helped a lot since I have SEVERE panic attacks and that would make my blood pressure go through the roof. I had to wait too for it to go down. Now don't be afraid to go to another dentist if one is available near you, it's always a good idea to get a second opinion.
