It'll depend on your connection and the number/quality of seeds. If you have a 1Mbps connection and are on a torrent with several good seeds you could run at several hundred k/s - in which case, about an hour. If it's a less-popular seed you could get stuck at 10k/s, in which case it'll take a day or more. Oh, and it's probably illegal, depending on what you're downloading.

You're kidding me, right? Copyright. The movie owner owns the rights to distribution and the content of the film. By downloading a shared/ripped version, you're circumventing the normal sales process and the copyright owner (plus all the actors and other people who get royalties) don't get their money. Even if you live in a country which doesn't subscribe to the international copyright laws, there's a good chance your ISP does and can cut you off for illegal downloads. If you're somewhere like Europe, the US or other places who do subscribe to those laws, you can be prosecuted. The details are always in the copyright bit of the film (you know, that whole "do not distribute in any format by any means" stuff).

I have been downloading movies from torrents, for as far as i can remember and i never heard that it was illegal. Can I know why is it illegal? Cause it is the first time I have heard that it is illegal.

I Guess it all depends on your internet speed, I use a 1 MPBS connection and I download that kind of movie in around a hour some times a few minutes more. And it also depends if you are using your internet while it is being downloaded. If you are doing nothing then it will take less time and if your are browsing through pages and pages on the internet than it will take you more time.

You can get an idea of your internet speed by just some observation. When you try to watch a video in youtube, does it run uninterrupted? If yes, you'll take an hour or two at most. If not, it'll take about 3-4 hours. Enjoy!

@tammy27 That I right if it shows 100.0MBPS than it is 1mbps, I use a 1 MBPS connection but i see 100.0 MPBS as my speed. So it might take you around an hour to download the movie. @anatcool5 It does not goes like that if the video being played on youtube is a good quality video it may get interrupted with a good connection, but if it is a bad quality video it may not get interrupted on a slow connection as well.

it depends on the speed of the internet connection and also your PC or laptop. If you have 1 mbps connection it may take roughly an hour or so. You can know the speed of your internet connection by going to the site www.speedtest.in There are other internet speedometers also. good day.

hi tammy27 it depends upon the connection and also it depends upon the mbps and if you are surfing or downloading other program...it is better to download if you are not doing something only the downloading of the video, it is more faster rather than doing another things in the computer, it is the reason why some people have a slow speed of the internet or downloading some video... for me downloading 600 to 800 mb takes me 5hours to 7 hours.

I believed that downloading movies via torrent is illegal? Anyway, I think it takes about a half-day before a whole movie is downloaded, well it depends on the net connection actually.

I usually download movies in the rip format, not from torrents. If you don't know, that is a single movie file ripped into usually 3-4 parts of almost equal size. You have to download them one after the other, then zip them together to make one file. In my experience, it takes about 10-15 mins to download one file, so that would be around one hour. My internet speed is generally somewhere between 150-200 kbps. That should be the average time to download one movie of about 600-700 mb in size, even in torrent. Although once, I downloaded a movie from torrent and it took about one and half hour, which bored me and got me impatient. I guess watching 4 files download for 10-15 mins each is more tolerable than one file downloading for more than one hour. Up to you really, but give this other type of downloading a try.

That depends on your internet speed! But on an average, it'll take a movie 3-4 hours to download a torrent. For blue ray quality movies in 700-800 mb in to piratebay.com and search for riddlerA
