I hate fireworks!!!

I do not understand why people are so amused by them. They are loud and obnoxious, and when I'm home I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THEM! Yet my neighbor loves to shoot them off for over an hour -- on July 3th AND 4th!!! It annoys me to have to deal with it! My dog is TERRIFIED and my cats are uncomfortable. I'm not nor will ever be a solider, but listening to all the BOOM BOOM makes me feel like I'm in a war zone!! I used to enjoy fireworks - up until I hit the dozen digits! Now I just find them pointless... and loud! Does anyone else feel this way?

hey fireworks are cool :) They're good for shows and stuff, but can be pretty loud. It sucks to be next to someone shooting them off for an hour, i could imagine. But at real firework shows they are really cool, once you see it you will understand. All the pretty patterns in the sky will make you love fireworks.

Oh no, I totally agree that a firework show performed by professionals can be beautiful, but a couple of guys next door just playing around is NOT fun! I normally don't mind but when my dog suffers, then it starts to annoy me! Thanks for the reply!

i actually love fireworks but i know what you mean about the noise. it is LOUD which i really dont like and i have often wondered about vets and the fireworks that makes like a buzz bomb (ww2). i wondered how vets felt about that type of firework noise.

I used to enjoy fireworks - professionally done - but not next door to me. I was still cleaning up leftover pieces in my yard over a week later! I wonder that too - we are currently in so many wars right now, I cannot imagine veterans would enjoy returning home to have to listen to that. Thanks for the reply!

I agree unless it's a professional display. Fireworks are illegal. Funny how that never makes any difference. Let's hope no one gets hurt or no one's house gets set on fire with them. They can be a bit dangerous. Watch out for those kiddies out there!!

Exactly! I wasn't going to call the cops on them, but fireworks are illegal here and they need to start respecting that. Go far away to shoot them off, just leave us alone! They are dangerous! Their backyard neighbors had damage done to their roof one year. I make sure all my animals (cats, dog) are inside when I start hearing them playing.... Thanks for the reply!

Honestly, not really. I mean, they can be nice when done professionally, but the neighbors are just messing around with them so it's just a color here and there with a lot of noise. I just don't see the point of fireworks. I think it's a waste of time and energy, not to mention all the materials involved. It certainly doesn't help the environment any either! Thanks for the reply!

I absolutely feel the same way as you. My kids are young and they are afraid of them and my dogs don't like them either. We went to a friends house tonight and they were shooting them off and it bothered me so bad because they have no clue what their doing and it could be dangerous. So we stayed for an hour and we brought the kids home since none of us were having a good time at all. They were so loud it was making my ears ring! I hear you on that... =) Can't wait until it's over!

I'm a bit behind with responding to some comments, but I wanted to say THANKS! I think you're the first person to 100% agree with me, lol. It's absolutely dangerous - not only to those shooting them off (and we can only assume they don't do it professionally) but those who live near by because if they shoot them off at the wrong angle, they could end up in our property! (worse case: on a roof and possibly start a fire). The noise is just an added annoyance; and causing unnecessary fear for some. Thanks for the reply!

fire works can make the celebration and perfect just like the spirit of celebration are in the fire works, and it gives life the the occasion example the new years when the fire works are present you can really feel the new year

I don't think fireworks add much to any celebration. It should be about the people you're with, not random colors in the sky and annoying noises. I realize some people think fireworks "intensify" a celebration, in that case go to a professional show; don't be amateurs and set them off in your backyard in a rural area... just my opinion! I do think fireworks for the New Year can be nice. But only REAL fireworks, not something any individual could buy. Thanks for the reply.

Fireworks display - Air Pollutant
I also do hate fireworks and could not understand why a feast, or any celebration should be accompanied by fireworks. Can't we not enjoy a celebration without the noise of fireworks? They ruin the environment and the air we breath they pollute Even the fireworks display do the same harm on environment so I think fireworks and even fireworks displays should be totally prohibited.

Hi,grobanite! Sorry to hear that.Hope your neighbor won't do that after the Independence Day celebration. Well,I am normally not bothered by fireworks.I actually like those gatherings where people shoot off those fancy and huge fireworks. And I would certainly love to see those fireworks in the Lord of the Rings if they do exist. However,I do hate some people shooting off the fireworks at,like,3 or 4 o'clock in the morning.People do that during the Spring Festival-Chinese way of celebrating the New Year(lunar). Those fireworks are not splendid and they woke me up!!! Anyway, hope the fireworks ain't ruining your mood to have a fun Independence Day.

I don't mind the fireworks from a distance, it's just when it's right next door (and I have a terrified dog to deal with), it frustrates me. Especially since I know it's not "celebrating" as much as fooling around. I don't know of the "Lord of the Rings" reference you're referring to. I guess I should be happy they stopped around 10pm, rather than going through the wee hours of the night/morning. Thanks for the reply!

They aren't as bad when they are far away, but RIGHT next door, some of them get really loud! That's all I hate about them, how noisy they are. And with a lot of them at a time, it sounds like a bombing and shoot-out! Thanks for the reply!

Just try to bear with your neighbors. They are just celebrating the 4th of July, and after that it's no more. Fireworks, isn't fireworks without the sounds.

I don't think they are celebrating per se, I think they are just having childish fun with dangerous fireworks. Luckily it only did last that one night, nothing happened on the 4th! Eh. Fireworks would be perfect if they came with the color and not the noise! Thanks for the reply!

i just like watching it in the sky but i don't want it anywhere close to me. my boyfriend just bought some fireworks yesterday from Pennsylvania and i got mad at him. but they are going to use them today. it is illegal in New Jersey and if ever they get caught then that's because he didn't listen oh and yeah i also wish people would just stop buying fireworks, it is dangerous and they might get hurt i hope my boyfriend and his family will be okay. i am too far from him right now, i wish i could be there and just scold him and pinch his ears for not listening hahaha sigh

Very true. Fireworks can be very annoying and if a person does not like it man its frustrating. Looks like you neighbour is in full mood of celebration with over an hour of bursting fireworks. May be you can give him a suggestion to go in an open ground and have the fun out there. Also let him know the effect it is having on your pets. They sure do get terrified and I have seen that myself. Lets him know that since this can cause a trauma to your pets, then imagine the effect it will have in the neighbourhood. Have a potile word with him and see if it works. I'm sure he will understand..

Yes! Silent fireworks would be SO much better! Than it's just about the "prettiness" of them, without the loud obnoxiousness! Thanks for the reply!

I love fireworks but only when there is a special occasion to have it. It's actually fun, but there are some people who don't like it. Anyway, try to find a place that you can't be disturbed by the loud noise coming from fireworks.

I used to enjoy them, but I don't anymore. And every year my neighbor shoots off fireworks for most of the night... It's a bunch of boys fooling around! They aren't celebrating anything, they just enjoy playing with the fireworks. We live at the bottom of a hill too, so the uphill neighbors have to deal with all the leftovers. They are NEVER happy about that! I think one year something caught on fire up there. It's just a dangerous thing, I think it should be completely banned for individuals to purchase any kind of fireworks. Thanks for the reply!

I cannot say that I hate fireworks nor do I like them. Basically, it depends on the occasion. There are times that they are fitting indeed to watch. Often, I love fireworks show.. but not those that create heavy sounds that annoys me already. I love more the lights with background music...

I am not a fan of fireworks but don't hate them either. I just don't care if it's in there but it's really better if I'm just home, i don't give much attention to it. And yes, dogs and cats are afraid of fireworks they kep their self under the table or anywhere they could keep themselves.Don't worry they won't have all the time in the world. Soon they'll end up those squeaky sounds. You'll feel well in any minute now :)

I feel the same way. If I'm in my house and I can't see the fireworks, I despise hearing them. I'm very sensitive to loud noises and the sounds bother me so much Fortunately, in my neighborhood, they don't have it going off for over an hour. I notice though, that if I'm outside watching the fireworks, they don't seem to be as loud. I guess since I'm enjoying it, I don't pay so much attention to the noise

I forgot to mention, I also have a fear that an ember from the firework will come down on my house and start a fire. Just another reason fireworks bother me.
