I am seeking information about sites that pay for freelance writers

Even though I am new to mylot, it is obvious to me that many mylotters are freelance writers who earn some or most of their income through writing. I have read some discussions talking about different sites that pay freelancers. All the sites were new to me. I had never heard of any of them. I wrote down some of the names and did some searching. But, I am not getting the information that I am seeking. I do not know which sites might be best for a novice such as myself. I think someone suggested Triond for a novice or beginner. Is that correct? I did search Triond and read some. How do mylotters feel about Triond? What are the pro's and con's? And what other sites would you suggest for a novice or beginner who would like to try her hand at earning some money doing freelance writing?

We're in the same boat. I will share with you what my research has turned up so far: www.odesk.com is my favorite, and www.elance.com isn't so bad either. Both are bid for work sites. Before you can make any notable income on these sites, or any freelance work site, you need two things: a resume and work samples. You must build up your resume (essentially the record of your writing experience) before you even stand a chance on any of these freelance job sites. A good way to to this is to submit writing to places like www.associatedcontent.com or http://hubpages.com/. Both of these sites will not make you a live on income, but they can be a starting point. If you can attain large and loyal traffic states on either site, your resume will shine. If you are confident in your writing skills, you can try applying for www.demandstudios.com or even www.suite101.com if you specialize in something. If you are only looking to make some extra income, I again recommend Associated Content. It's a great place to write for extra cash or to build up your reputation. P.S. Triond is legit. Anyone can write for them. Since they accept anyone, beginners like you can easily write for them. However, you should be aware that the pay structure is based on pageviews. If you don't get a lot pageviews on your work, say good bye to good income. Triond doesn't offer the option of up-front payments like Associated Content.

Thanks for your feedback. I am only looking for some extra income and because of some personal limitations, Associated Content and Triond might be the best places for me to begin. I only heard about these sites a few days ago. I have checked out both. I believe that Triond pays one cent per view which does not sound like the big time but they are international and it sounds like they get your writings out there. Would you know how Associated Content pays ie. how much per view, etc. How many words do they expect? Do they require videos and pictures? Months back, I found hub pages and joined. But I had no idea what was expected or what to expect. I wrote somethng that was deleted due to lack of content. My submission was only two or three paragraphs long. I was thinking that they were looking for bloggers. I may go back, re=write and re-submit.

Thank you so much for your helpful information. Have you personally had any success with Associated Content? Which sites have you had success with? Associated Content publishes your article for you and it must reach millions of potential readers. Right? And that would also be the same with Triond? Right? So while 1,000 or 1,500 seems like a lot of views, my article could have a lot of exposure. Am I correct?

Associated Content pays about $1.50 per 1000 pageviews. As for expectations, they prefer 300 to 500 words for article, or if your article has multiple pages, then between 250 and 300 words per page. You can find the full details of what they require here: http://contributor.yahoo.com/community/guidelines.html Images and video are not required, even though Associated Content will pay for submitted images. As for HubPages, the idea is build micro-websites. Their capsules have no text limit so I assume they want plentiful content. Good luck with your writing!

If you are really serious about freelancing online, you may want to check out sites like Content Current, The Content Authority, ecopywriters, Skyword and Demand Studio. These sites pay well and they always have a lot of work.

Hi, I kick around from Content Authority, ecopywriters, Skyword and content current. All of these sites have job boards where you can choose the assignments that you want. The pay varies depending on the number of words but the average is $10/400-500 words. Turn-around time also varies depending on assignments. I usually finish an article in 30-45 minutes. The review process for submitted articles takes around 3-5 days. They are very strict when it comes to quality but if you are good, quality will not be an issue. They do not want pictures just articles.

Thank you for your help. Do you write for any of these sites? Or all of these sites? I am new to this freelancing online. Can you give me an idea of what is expected? How many words do these sites want? Do they want pictures? etc etc. How much do they pay? And thanks again.

I highly recommend Associated Content. They are a great site to write for. I have been there a couple of years, but only recently began to get serious about writing for them and I enjoy it. I can't say that I make enough money to live on ,but I do fairly well there for most months. I also write for Triond, but find it hard to get page views. My pay is only a few cents per month there and I do not like spending my time there. With Associated Content, they will pay upfront payments on certain articles that can be between $2 and $20 and that money will come a day after you accept the offer, which usually comes within two weeks of when you submit the article. Plus, your page view money will accumulate through the month and then you will get that payment between the 10th and 15th of the month.

I have been with Triond for a while and published over 100 articles but the earnings are very meager. However, it is very easy to get articles published there. You might just try it to get a feel for writing online.

Thanks for your feedback and info. I signed up with Associated Content and may next sign up for Triond. Over 100 articles?? That is a lot of work. About how many words was each article on average? Or how many words was the longest article? How many words was the shortest article? And about how much did you get paid? I read that Triond pays about one cent per view or page view. Is that correct? Are they good about paying. I will probably try Associated Content first and then try Triond. What made you choose to go with Triond?

Thanks for your help and feedback. When I have a chance, I want to view some of your articles and get an idea of what they want. I may try my luck one day. I am often very busy. I still have a part time job. Sometimes we have a lot of work and sometime none at all. It looks like we might be getting slow again.

I prefer Helium myself, I am earning fairly good money and receiving payments from them twice a month. Helium pay out on the 15th and the end of each month.

Thanks for the info. As it turns out, I have become very busy again and do not have the time to try to do any freelance on line writing. But I have collected some very valuable information for the future. Can you give me an idea of what Helium wants? For example, how many words? And what Helium pays? Or about what Helium pays?

Thanks for your info and feedback. I am a novice / beginner who has some limitations. I am looking just for some extra income every month, not a career in freelance writing. I will check out the site that you suggested but I think that it is going to be more than I can handle.

I got some interesting and helpful responses back. Mylot is great in that you can ask just about anything and everything. And get some helpful responses back. I am just looking for some extra income, not writing as a career. I am going to check out some of these sites, one at a time.
