I am a pharmacy student and in my studies I need to memorize lots and lots of stuff such as medicine name , both generic and trade, it's mechanism of action, side effects, indication, and so on. Apart from that I am also requires to memorize type of diseases, it's pathology, and what are the signs and symptoms. However it us too hard to memorize all without right technique and also it is quite tricky if we only have too many things to remember in such short time. Can anyone suggest the best way to deal with this?

I am from the Engineering stream and that is why I don't need to memorize those difficult names of the pills but yes the suggestion that I can give to you is to increase your memory power. I think a lot of people use the meditation and Yoga techniques for many purpose. there are some exercise/techniques to increase your memory power and I am sure this is the best thing you can do to memorize those names. Thanks and good luck to you.

I know when I needed to know a lot of details, I would start with flash cards, but then I would try to come up with some kind of pneumonic for it. For example, if you already had a flash card made up, you could take the first letter from each word that you needed to remember and make a word or phrase using those letters and it should help you member. In music they use "every good boy does fine" to remember E G B D F as some of the keys on a piano. I don't know if that would help with pharmacy terms, but you could try it. You probably already have a list of all the things you need to memorize so just use that list to create a memory device. Give it a try!

During my time as a students I also encountered the same problem.Memorizing is really hard especially like you who is striving to be a pharmacist. You work will deal with all kinds of medicine. My suggestions is to group all medicine according to classification so you can easily recognize it's functions. You can also put in one group both generics and branded products which I guess have the same action in this way you can most likely to remember their difference. Repeated readings also sharpens our memory.

Memorizing stuffs can be a pain. I have been trying to learn Mandarin Chinese and it's just killing me. There are so many words that I need to memorize and all the strokes and ways to write them. And the thing is, I am not taking some lessons but learning with a Chinese friend :D It is tough but I'm determined to learn it!! Anyway the way I tryy and memorize them words are by writing it many times again and again. That way I'll know how to write them in a proper way and I also carry around a small note pad with the words and the meaning written on it. Whenever I'm free or waiting for the bus or waiting for a friend, I take it our and try to memorize a word or two at a time. It helps a lot.

The best ever method to memorize is to use logical methods.Once you use logical methods you will never ever forget the thing in the entire life,I guarantee ! This is nothing but just selecting the first letter of the words to be studied and then making a funny ,logical, unrealistic sentences using these letters in sequence and just read the words to be studied once or twice.Every thing is over. In the examination hall,Just go back to your sentence, select the letters and then build the words, thats it. However, this is not a good method,as it just uses the codes and no knowledge is provided or got using the method. Anyway, the method can be used in selected cases, where you feel very hard to memorize by just reading.

Try making flash cards for everything. For example, write the name of the name of the medicine on the front of the card and then on the back of the card write it's mechanism of action, side effects, etc. Once you have made them, just keep them with you all the time and whenever you get a free minute just go through them and try to memorize them. At first, you'll have to look at the back a lot to see what the right answers are but eventually you'll have them memorized and you'll hardly need to look at them.

I suggest you segregate or group the medicines by classifications. In this way, its easier for you to memorize because they have similar actions, indications, etc.. For Example: Antibiotics-classify them by generations, 1st gen, 2nd, 3rd, etc. All of them with similar indications, s/e, etc. NSAIDs, all of them same action, s/e, etc. I hope this tip is effective to you as I was using this style too when I took by board exams in Nursing. Have a nice day, stay focused..

I don't know anything about medicine or anything but when I try to memorize anything I write it over and over. It gets boring but repetitive methods work. I also like to sing so I sing it over and over. Both methods work for me and it all depends on my mood as to which one I choose to do.

1 concentrate your attention in class and eliminate external disturbance to increase short-term memory 2. cultivation of your interest. because interest is the best memory teacher and t memorize such as medicine name. 3. Understanding is the basis of memory. you are better to comprehend their meanings than to learn by rote. i will all above can help you.
