Has anyone used eHow in the past and been offered money for your articles.

I used to write for eHow and make some pretty nice extra cash. I was making between $30 and $50 per month with only 46 articles on file. They recently stopped their payouts altogether but made an offer to buy the rights to 30 of my top articles. The payout was $180 paid half in June and the rest in July. Just wondering about other people's success with eHow and how they feel about getting shut out.

I used to write for Ehow until it got mixed with Demand Media. I still kept my articles there and received monthly royalties. But then just like you, I received the offer where they wanted to acquire all the rights of my articles while giving me a one time payment for them. I realized my articles could make more money than what they offered me. So I deleted them from Ehow, but before that I copied and pasted them to my Firehow page. I never like to receive one time payment. Some of my articles at Bukisa and Ehow made me more than $40 each and also the amount was increasing. That is why, I refused to take money from Ehow. I prefer the forever money making process.

Hi Techyhowto, I am not aware that Ehow pays for exclusive rights to your articles. I guess that will depend on how much you need the money now, and whether you are confident that your content will earn the same amount for the next year. I think if you have a plan to invest and grow the money, having cash now is better than in the future. If Ehow pays for 30 of your articles, how much will remaining 16 articles earn every month?

I don't have experience with writing for eHow. However, I think what you need to do here is determine whether you feel your writing is worth that amount. Do you feel that they are giving you a fair offer for your work or do you feel that it's worth more than that? Determining approximately how long it took you to write those 30 articles and then calculating the hourly amount from their offer might also be a beneficial way of going about this. Good luck!
