I don't want to block

For some reason when I get an e-mail from one of my really good friends, it goes into my blocked folder. A spam folder and blocked folder are just there on my e-mail account. And things automatically go there. In the spam folder I can hit 'this is not spam', and they will take it out of the spam folder and quit sending it there. But with the blocked folder, there is no option for me to say 'do not block this'. I checked and I have never even accidentally blocked her e-mail address. Her e-mail address is IN my address book. I think I'm missing some of her e-mails because they go into the blocked folder and if I don't think of it right away, they get deleted. Does anyone know how to fix this? My internet provider, when asked, doesn't seem to think there is a way to fix it.

Hi Ambie. They only way to fix it is in your preferences and or settings to make sure it is also not listed there. If not then your email provider is the one for some odd reason filter it. Maybe some of her emails containing text links are automatically being filtered? I would ask her to send something without any links and or attachments to see if they still get filtered. If so, I am not sure why and or if it can be fixed.

She never has any links or attachments in her e-mails. She is from Europe, could that have anything to do with it? Her internet provider maybe not being recognized by my internet provider?

If you send her emails does she get them in her inbox? If so then I would say then no it is not that the email providers do not recognize one anther. If so then could be.

It depends on the e-mail provider you use. Various providers have various settings, and if set wrong can auto-block certain addresses. I would check all your e-mail settings and look for her e-mail address. It's possible, that your friend got filtered into a blocked senders list, and the only way to reverse the problem is to remove her. Now, one quick way to search, is to enter your settings from the block folder itself. Usually if you're in the area of question, the settings that relate to it pop up when you enter your settings area. Check out anything that has to do with the worrd, "filter, block, or privicey to find her e-mail and un-block it.

I have never heard of a Blocked folder like this, unless it would be from people or Email addresses that a server blocks. It does seem a little odd unless there was something in the Title that your server would block it and not give you a chance to decide, and no way to unblock just seems a little odd. Personally I would let your friend know what is going on and maybe have them consider changing their Email address to something else and see if it works?

AmbiePam, I wonder if you were to delete her out of your address book and re-enter her in if that would work. I do not know that much about it but know that is what I have had to do with other problems on my email and computer. Maybe you will find the answer from some good friend that is a techie! Have a blessed day!

Is it possible that your friend has had a virus or trojan on her computer? I ask because even with antivirus protection and a firewall, I ended up with 5 trojans. The result of that was that the places that actually send the emails (not the ISPs, but the step beyond them) all blocked my computer from sending emails until the problem was proved to be fixed. And even after being fixed, a few of my friends still didn't get my emails - because it takes a while for the word to get out that you no longer have a problem on your computer.

I think I'm the only one of her friends who has this problem.

Won't your email program let you create a filter to let you deliver from her email address directly to your inbox? That is really strange.

I have never seen a blocked folder, but that would irritate me. I think that the internet provider should know something about it. Is there a Best Buy store near you? If so, you might be able to call their Geek Squad and see if they know. Let us know if you get it fixed.

I really don't know....but would be interested in finding out what you do have to do....I have only ever blocked two people and have never tried to unblock them...but in case the fingers ever do something they are not supposed to it would be to my advantage to know!

That's weird, because if she is in your contact list, her e-mails should go to your inbox..Maybe an option would be to make a folder for her e-mails to go to..That way they are not throw into spam, and you get all her messages all in one folder..

perhaps you have blocked someone else and when she forwarded things, she did not use the BCC and therefore, the blocked got confused as someone may have had a similar address. not sure if that can happen, but i dont know any other scenerio. it seems strange. never heard of that before. maybe you have another email she could send to. get another addy and that might work. another email account.
