To shop or not to shop... that is the question :)

A couple of months ago, I went on a huge shopping spree. I used my salary on this huge sale, and I bought so many clothes. Now that a couple of months have passed, I'm thinking of going shopping again. Am I a shopaholic? I think there are people out there who are more shopaholic than I am. :) So anyway, I've been seeing pictures of clothes and shoes that I want and I'm thinking of buying them. But I've spent too much a couple of months ago. Should I stop myself from all these cravings? Or should I treat myself with even just a bit of shopping? :)

"To shop or not to shop" in other words it means "To enjoy or not to enjoy" That is how I look at shopping. For me shopping is an occasion - an outing really. But in your case you have just had fun and fun if over done could be quite boring too!

Wow I do have a shopaholic friend and she doesn't seem to worry about it. She loves it and does it whenever she can or whenever she's sad/happy She never runs out f money though and the thing is we don't work too!! Anyway i think going for shopping every once in a while is ok.But since you said you spent too much in the past months, why don't you save up a little this time. That way you can give yourself a big treat the next time. I love shopping too but i don't do it that often, maybe once in two months or so. But actualy I shop whenever I feel like it and when I have enough money

Before going to shop we have to make a raw list of buying things. Then we have estimate a good price list. we have to save the money. But have to buy the branded items only. They gives life...

shopping - go shopping
HI PP! I f you have more budget then why not? If you already keep some for your expenses and saving you could perhaps use the other portion to shop things you like. I always do this whenever I have money in my hand. Separate them into a few portions. Some will go for house expenses, saving, my own allowance, bills and the rest perhaps I can keep or use it to shop or buy my own things. You should manage your financial wisely so you will never find a point where you will think should I spend or not?? Just make sure you don't go over budget. If it is just $100 then just use $100 or less then fo more than that. Spend wisely okay???(^^)

Personally, I hate shopping, but I must go shopping from time to time, as I need some thing every now and then. It doesn't matter if you are a "shopaholic", all it matters to do whatever you want. If you like shopping and have money to spend, then you should go for it and have a treat. I guess everybody has a passion, and some people have shopping as a passion. And passions are things which make us happier, so go ahead and shop.

If you are single then it is fine.. but then as young as you are now, you should learn how to SAVE. yeah yeah i am just so practical but take it from me, you will reap more if you learn how to SAVE. You can shop anytime you like but too much of something is bad enough my friend. you can go shopping in hongkong

Stop looking at said pictures of things that you may want. That does wonders of not making you want to buy something when you really think about it. There are a lot of temptations out there to shop for many people, for many things, whether they be clothes, electronics, you name it, there are a lot of people out there that are shopaholics to the highest degree. The fact that to them money is some kind of poison that they have to unload from their person as soon as possible. A happy medium is to treat yourself to a couple of things. Think long and hard about what you really need the most out of the things that you want. We tend to get too hung up a lot of the time on the things of what we want rather than the things that we need. Put back some money to save first, and then prioritize what you really want. That should answer many questions.

If you are happy about it,then do it. Giving pleasure for oneself is not a sin. You are not on the risk level of being shopaholic. You are young and and eraning by working too hard so you must taste the fruit of your labor.

A sale could really make you spend outside of your budget. Nonetheless, it is our chance to buy on discounted prices, making us feel that we have saved, but on the contrary, it made you shop more. I think, you should evaluate if you really needed to shop more for a lot of clothes , bags and shoes. You can actually, make a new look using the same clothes if you know how to mix and match. A blouse worn on a skirt, will have a different look, if matched with another color of a skirt or pants. In addition, a shoe and bag of different style from the previous wear could also change it. Maybe you can shop again , if you have mixed and matched them all for maybe two months of more.

I have learnt something which I would like to pass on to you. Ask yourself this: Why do I need the additional clothes/stuff? Is it to replace something that is already worn out that I need to discard it? If so, then you are justified to buy without guilt or worry that you are a shopaholic. An occasional treat will end up an unstoppable craving if you do not have certain "buy rules" to live by. Hope it helps. You can save some money through this rule.

I am just like you - I also seem to be a bit of a shopaholic sometimes! I don't shop often but when I do, I tend to go a bit crazy and just buy all the things I like - which can cause problems in my budget! What I would advise is for you to be honest with yourself about what you can afford. If you need to go shopping, then you should decide on the amount that are you able to spend beforehand, and take out cash in only that exact amount! That way you won't be able to blow your budget on a shopping spree!

go shopping! it's one of the best joys in life! don't feel you did something bad after that..... i am always saying that we have to enjoy the money we have because it brings us so much happiness. the action of shopping is so stimulating and very healthy! we should not keep our money to days when we can't use it...( i hope you understand what i mean but, people die with so much money they could use and enjoy when they were alive) so, enjoy it while you can!

hi pinkpiglet I would compromise with myself, just buy one item you really really want and really crave it then do not shop for any more clothes till you put a few bucks back into your checking account lol lollol. Then perhaps indulge in an icecream soda of the flavor you like and go on home. proud you did not do another shopping binge. lol lol lol.

I know those urges to shop til you drop. When I was working at a very good job back in 2006/2007 I went shopping every payday. I would buy a complete outfit's from undergarments to clothing to accessories and not think a thing about it. I often wish I could do that again. I would say purchase 1 item at a deep discount or make a game out of trying to save as much money as you can on an item. No more spending all of your pay on shopping!

I don't think you are a shopaholic, It happens to all of us, he he he he L.O.L. At least you got a lot of clothes!!! And that was a couple of months ago and those are things in our life that not only do we want but that we need so that is a good thing!! I do the same sometimes when I have the money, and I see things like clothes and shoes I want I will get them when I have the money or save it until I can get them. Have a nice day and hope you get the rest of the clothes and shoes you want.

Why not think of saving your money. Oh yes,it is your money and you deserves to treat yourself. But if you think you have enough to wear and use for months after shopping many clothes, why not think for a charitable act. I only suggest,by doing such thing, you will surely make/made some orphans happy.

Maybe it's just a case of impulsive buying. If you got the money to spend then go out and spend through shopping. But if you really don't have the money to buy, I strongly suggest that you don't. It's just a case of assessing your financial status and deciding. Always remember though that you should live well below your means. Shopping is fun if it won't give you any problems in the long run.

If you think buying all your cravings is one of the ways that can give you your extreme happiness, why not buy after all? Besides, it's your own money earned by your hardships. Just be a little cautious on the things that you buy. Be sure that you can use them so that the money you are using is not wasted. But, before leaving this discussion pinkpiglet, I just want to leave you with an old cliche -"Too much of everything is bad". Just practice some moderation when you went on a shopping spree. Why not save some when you have still time to. Well, I'm just suggesting. ^_^ Have a happy shopping!
