America Burns but Obama Celebrates!

Barack Obama’s birthday. It’s on Aug. 4. The president is turning 50. He’s decided to have a quiet celebration with family and a few close friends. NOT. Instead, the president is planning an extravagant fundraising bash Aug. 3 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, including a birthday concert teeming with celebrities and – for couples contributing $35,800 – a private dinner with the president. All this just one day after the government is scheduled to run out of cash! To show that hope and change is for everyone, a pauper section will be included for those contributing a measly $50. But the general admission ticket is $200, and the more you give, the more you get. For $1,000, you can sit in the rich people’s area with easy access to alcohol. And for $10,000 you not only get a great seat, but a photo with The Birthday Boy. Perhaps Timothy Geithner will be doing stand up comedy at a smaller room elsewhere in Chicago the same night, with all proceeds going to fund the federal government. http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2011/07/14/gops-big-debt-ceiling-card-obamas-birthday-bash/ This seems to be Obama's version of: The phrase "Nero fiddled while Rome burned" is used to express both these meanings of the word fiddle. First it presents the picture of an individual playing a musical instrument as he took a sadistic pleasure in the terrible misfortunes of others. Here in America we have seniors and the disabled worried about getting their SS Checks on August 3rd and whether they can afford to buy food, pay their rent etc. Meanwhile our greedy leader is planning a big extravagant birthday bash. Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

Anything wrong with this picture? People don't get their allotments on the 3rd he may not live to be 50. With so many people on the war path over Casey Anthony it won't take much to turn people in his direction and it won't be pretty. I don't remember ever paying $200 dollars for a ticket and that includes some of the best Rock and Roll bands in the world!

So right Lakota. Obama is the one who spent all the money on bail outs and stimulus packages so he is the one to blame.

Probably many will arrive in private jets. Most of the many Islamic princes have jets and lots of money. Not forgetting George Soros and his rich clique of elites.

Just the other day Obama was claiming that he wouldn't mind of folks who made as much money as he does were taxed more. They don't need to be taxed more. There is already a way for him or anyone who wants to to donate money to pay down the debt. Wouldn't it be grand if he did that, rather than spending this money? And he could ask all his rich friends to do the same.

I am not trying to sound incentive's towards peoples social security checks, but I thought all you right wingers hate socialism. Huh, maybe it just socialism for other people you hate. I mean, because if some one touches the socialism you are getting then you guys get all mad.

Many of us still beleive that SS should be privatized but since the government is taking the money we beleive they should live up to their promise. The President is using senior citizens and the Military as pawns in the game of chicken. Why did he not say that the SS and Veterans checks would go out but money to operate congress would be held back? Why not government employees - they mostly vote for him while the Military almost always votes against his party. He is playing a dangerous game of brinkmanship and it could sever damage to the country or is that what he wants?

crossbones27 It appears that you are one of the left wingers for whom thinking is dangerous. BTW I am not a right winger. IMO socialism leads to communism. As a purely economic system, socialism is a lousy way to run a large scale economy. Socialism is not a political system, it's a way of distributing goods and services. http://www.romm.org/soc_com.html

Perhaps he knows something that we don't? That the US is not going to default?

First, they will sell many more tickets than the number of people who will attend. This is a way for people to funnel more than the allotted cap on contributions to the president. The people giving him money tell him that they bought 10 or 20 or 100 tickets but no one is going to attend or 100 $35,000 tickets and 2 are attending. It's a very common tactic to get a politician in your pocket. He now will owe a ton of people favors. The people showing up will be the paupers on the 50 tickets.

Greg Corner to DJ President's Birthday Bash - That Greg Corner fella, the DJ for the night - one of the most AWESOME people you will ever meet. So proud of ya!
I had to come back to this discussion because I just found out something very VERY cool about this celebration that I need to share with the world. The bassist for my ABSOLUTE favorite band in the world has gotten the sole duty of dj'ing the affair. All of the entertainment for the celebration will be provided by Chicago artists... OK Go, Jennifer Hudson.. and the part that makes me one very proud raccoon, Kill Hannah and Dark Wave Disco's Greg Corner. Kind of doesn't matter what your political beliefs are, having your bassist DJ the President's birthday bash is a check in the Win column. WTFG, Corner!
