Well I have an NVidia video card whose cap was blown a few months ago. I think it's because of overheating why its capacitor was blown. This was also one of the reasons why I haven't been with myLot for some time. I used the built-in video adapter as I don't have budget to purchase a new one, but it's not just that comfortable as it is limited in terms of performance which also limits the things that I wanted to do. Now I consulted a friend (one who is knowledgeable in this area) and ask if it could still be fixed. One solution he said is to replace the blown capacitor with a new or a compatible one. So I looked for a compatible capacitor (actually with some dead video cards in his shop), and luckily I found one. So to cut the story, the blown video card was replaced and it's fully functional again. Now I don't also have to purchase a new one. And I'm back with myLot again.. Good day everyone! Happy myLotting!

I find it cheeper to save up for a new computer because quite often replacing parts aren't worth it in the long-run. It's annoying as all hell, and most computers aren't designed to last too long anyway. At least you were able to fix your video card. It's kind of important if you want to use a computer.... otherwise the screen is useless. And, yes I know how it feels not to have money... I struggle with this everyday. ugh...

Hi kaylachan! I haven't actually replaced any part yet. I just have added additional ROM and hard disk to my computer. Everything else is still working fine except that video card which overheated and blown its capacitor. I have it checked to my friend who has knowledge with electronics and he said that it will still be good if I just replace the blown capacitor. Sometimes it's also good to have friends who is knowledgeable in different areas or fields and that we can ask help from them - most of the time it's FREE.

That is indeed a great news. Do you have the soldering skill too? To meddle with the printed circuit board by amateurs is a very risky. To my knowledge the capacitors are all soldered and not plugins. My sincere admiration to you for overcoming the problem. Keep it up.

Thanks hanuma. I've actually searched first over the internet if there could still be ways to fix a blown capacitor. So with high hopes of getting it fixed, I went to a friend who is more knowledgeable in this terms. He said I was lucky enough that it was only the capacitor that was damaged and not the circuitry, or there is nothing else he could do. I don't have soldering skills but my friend helped me by demonstrating it. Yes capacitors are soldered and not plugins. So with the right tools and skills, my video card was fixed.
