Rankings on responses and comments

I've been posting a lot of responses and comments lately and I realized something. There's this thing at the top that goes something like, "ranked 165 out of 1,986 in enjoying life"
I was wondering how it is being rated or ranked? Sometimes I get ranked 3,463 out of 16,988 and if I'm lucky I get ranked 23 out of 21,345. I just don't understand how we're being ranked. Is it with the complicated algorithm thing again? Because i don't see the fairness in some rankings. I saw a post that was just a one-liner, and he/she didn't even make a very good sense about the discussion, yet he/she still got a ranking of 34 out 9,239 posts. And on the same post, I responded a long and quality post yet I got ranked 6,882.
So, how do they really rank and/or rate posts here in myLot? Is it really fair?

Each time someone rates you not only will it affect your general rating it will also rank you under interests.

What do mean by someone rating you? How do you rate someone? I'm actually trying to figure all these out. :) It's kind of confusing.

Those are your rankings and are calculated by the ratings people give to your responses in that particular interest.
When all the ratings in all of your interests are consolidated your reputation is calculated.
It hardly matters how long you write its just the quality content which is required at end.
I have the habit of + rate to others but its others users choice how they rate you.You cannot do anything for it as its not in your hand only thing which is in your hand is to write quality responses.

It seems you haven't understood mylot yet completely. I'll first suggest you to read faqs because everything is explained there briefly.
. You may know ratings. You have a star of number 9. It means you are a good poster and other lotters have liked your posts so they have mostly rated you +.
These ratings also affects ranking in specific interests. Suppose you made lots of posts in interest life and people rated you then your rankings will be affected accordingly(depending on plus or minus rating.) and if you have joined new interest and posted very less in it then your rankings will be low, because peoples haven't rated you so much. So don't get depressed after some time you'll see your ranking going heigher if you made good posts.
And it is not necessary that lengthy posts will make more earnings because here earnings are mostly dependant on ratings.
