I am a fresher who has joined an office last week. The first day in my office was a very boring day. I am given a place to sit. But all of my co-workers are doing their own job. Some of them are almost 30 years older than me. I am having a great trouble to get along with them. They are chatting with each other bypassing me. I want to make friends. How can I make my job enjoyable. Please give me suggestions.

That is quite usual. I had gone through exactly the same experience. Have you received any assignments ? That will be a good way to start. Work on those assignments, and others who are connected to those assignments will become your colleagues and friends, step by step. In a few days time, you will be enjoying the company !

helo debs...iam happy to see you again... congratulate if you had been working it`s not easy for somebody else get a jobs now... but in our working place , sometimes we get many problems or conflict with our boss or workersmate.... i think it`s really hard to pass the first one month...many people try to impress anybody else and especially his bos and change his identity and culture...just be yourself

You know what, sometimes it's like that. Just be thankful that that is all you have to deal with everyday. I had to deal with plastic co-workers everyday. I've gotten used to doing fake smile and getting away with it. You will just have to do what you gotta do, that's all I can advise you.

Just like with social circles outside the work place it takes time to get into. Start by being friendly and greeting everyone at the office and asking for tips etc on making your work more successful. The fact you are much younger is a good sign as you have a lot of chance for growth in the company. Don't worry as it takes a few weeks and you will see things will change for the better as long as you do your job well.

Keep us posted and remember they might feel you as a threat etc but that's no reason not to get along.
