Do you want to live in the province or in the city?

I would like to ask my fellow My Lotters where are you actually located right now? I'm currently residing in the province of Rizal, which is very close in the city. I prefer living here in our province. Though it will take an hour before I reach our office and our school before. I don't like living in the city, too many people, very congested. How about you?

Hi chiwasaki! I live in Laguna! And I work here, too. The office is near my home unlike yours. One hour! That's a long travel! Don't you get tired of traveling everyday? ^^ I have lived in Manila before because I have worked there but I do still go home to the province every weekend. If I have to choose between my life there before and my life here now, I would prefer my life here now in the province. I would prefer to live here. Not just because it's near to my workplace, but because it's not that polluted here like in Manila. There's not much passenger buses. Not much squatters. There not much shopping temptations! We do have a Robinson's Mall here and a local shopping center and lots of boutiques but it's nothing compared with the malls in Manila. When I was in Manila I spent a lot of money on shopping. So here in the province, I am able to save. Cheers. ^^

Hi Secretbear! Thanks for taking time responding to my discussion. My office is located in Mandaluyong City. My travel time is almost an hour, good thing I am working at night so there's no traffic. But I'm quite used to it already. My school before was in Manila which is much farther than Mandaluyong.

So you're working night shift. Doesn't it make it more harder? Because you'll lack sleep. And traveling would be dangerous at night.

Hi Secretbear! I am also from Laguna and I really love my life there, I remember my childhood days in our "barangay"...those days when there's still a huge rice farm in front of our house and when our town is less populated and polluted! But now, I already have mixed emotions whenever I go back in my hometown in Laguna, I am happy with the progress of our town but also sad that I was not able to recognized it anymore...so much traffic and lots of people already, even in our barangay, before we know almost everybody but now... and sad that those farms are already developed into subdivisions... But no matter what, that's still the place where I born and where I grow up that no matter what happen, its still number one in my heart...haha By the way I'm from Calamba, Laguna!

I always will want to live in the city.City is the place where you got to meet every kind of people and you will get maximum exposure about all the things.City is the place where you will have great places for entertainment.CIty is the place where you can see hot girls, just enjoy with them and these kind of stuffs.Yes but the province life is also beautiful, but when it comes to fill your pocket for your stomach then city is the perfect place.

You can find a lot of things in the city. You will not be bored with the stores and food out there. I also find these things very enjoyable in the city.

Some parts of Rizal is already polluted and congested. But those parts that are near Laguna and Quezon are really great. I'm somehow in between, there are a lot of people here already but not populated like in the city.

I worked in Manila but then, had to go back to the province to be with my husband and daughter. So, here in the province i am now working and i can make the comparison. I really liked it here in the province, because firstly, i don't have to rush in going to work and vice versa , because jeepneys abound. The air is fresh in the province. Pay is a bit smaller in the province, but when i run out of money, we can always borrow from my parents or parents in law. Life here in the province is at a slower paced, whereas in Manila, it's always as if everybody is in the rush.

I worked before in our province however the pay is really small. I need to get a job that has higher pay since I'm the only one in charge with all of the expenses. So it is okay to waste an hour for travel time.

Life in the city is very expensive indeed. I even heard gunshot one time when I was living in the city before. There are a lot of commotions specially in the area where I previously lived.

My father is also from Rizal and I love it there too. MY husband also love to go there when we come home to visit. We live in the city now because my hubby's work is located here. In summer, he has some days off and we go to the province. When I think of province I want to see nature and peace... but I don't see myself living there. We have a summer house in another province and the place to go there is limited. Yes there is already malls and cinemas and hospital for safety within the reach. But I still find that limited. Fresh air at the province is something I miss once in a while, but the convenience of having everything you need and having a greater number of places to go within the city is also a good thing. SInce my husband work has to be in the city, I chose the city... MAybe I am like this because Im still young. Maybe after retirement, I sure Id want to live in the province where there's fresh air and peace. But for now, I enjoy the city.

I have been to a town in some province where all establishments are already closed by 7pm. No 7-11 or Jollibee in town. Although the surroundings is very good but it is quite boring, really.

I really prefer living in the province. Probably because our province is adjacent to the metro. It is like the air every day is fresh.

At the moment I live in the city because of work, but I would love to live in the country side as well, if given the chance. It is my goal to move outside the city eventually.

I always commute when I go to work. Even though it is time consuming, I think I'm really used to it. And besides, I don't want to miss a day without my dog hehe.

I like to live in the city. If I don't have enough money, I can earn by looking for a job. It's more easy to look for jobs in city than in province. If I have much money, I'll spend them on very many services in this city which you can't find them at a province. And I'll spend money to solve the problem of noise, polluted etc... Wish you're happy!

Me also because my family now in SJDM Bulacan, one ride to SM Fairview so no problem. Besides congested, poluted also, noisy and not really safe to live for. But too far from the city is not really like. School in our place is ok because UP Diliman is good enough for riding..

When I was in college, I still prefer to commute than living in Manila. Although it will take around an hour and half before I reach my school. Our university is in the heart of Manila so it is really crowded and traffic is a problem.

city as in mm only? or city which means "component city" in the provinces? i would prefer to be in those component cities. in terms of personal income, i could get by the daily life even though with more limited opportunities. in terms of entertainment and social activities, most provinces (ex. mine) are somewhat similar to those in the big city. and i'm not much of an outgoer really. i've worked in mm for several months. and i know how hard everyday life is. even as typical as commuting to work is a struggle. in the province, going to work would only take a few minutes with one or two rides or no ride at all. though being in the big city has its perks, it choose to live in the province. (except if you are referring to province as the "province-rural type thing". that is another story.

I'm just referring to our own province which is near the metro. I spent about a week in a province island in south luzon, I like the scenic views however when it comes to daily life there, I feel bored. There's not even a convenience store open. So probably I'll go with provinces like Bulacan or Rizal.

Hello.. At the moment, I'm living in a city but I came in a province.. I like to live in the city rather than in our place. I kinda like it here. So many opportunities for me and I think, I could really improve myself by living in a city. :) Although, I like the fresh air in our province unlike here, the air is polluted, but I can take it.

There are a lot of nice places in the city. I also tried living in the city for a couple of months and I end up going back to province. I love the city life as well but I really prefer going back to our province.

I am not sure what province means but I think it's like living in the country right? I would say then that I like the province because that's where I live. The more woods there are the better! I like being able to see the stars at night! I only lie visiting the city. The city is too loud and crowded. At night the city's light block out the stars. Plus if ou live in the city everbody lives so close! I like houses spaced out. I also like the province because we can have a garden and animals.

Province here are like rural areas, exactly the opposite of city life. Houses are not that close to each other unlike in the city. Less populated and you can feel that the air is not polluted.

I have experienced living both in the province and in the city. And now that I am living in the city, all I can say is that I want to go back to the province! I am tired of the noise and the pollution here in the city and also tired of the high cost of living here... I miss my life in the province where everything seems so simple and I found more peace in there...

First of all, I would like to say that you picked a very interesting topic for discussion. Rizal? That's in Luzon or Mindanao? I am currently residing in my husband's area - the city of Davao. I just have to say that I prefer to live in a municipality. My hometown is in the province of Lanao del Norte. A municipality near Iligan City. Well, maybe I was really used to living in a quiet, small town compared to I am now. Maybe, its just that I am still adjusting to this big city! Living in a big place is difficult, especially if you just go on public transpo and your work is so far from your home. It also a wider range of people you have to deal with, unlike in small urban areas, in just a matter of time... You can be well-known!lol anyway, it also depends in the city though... I love some cities and I would definitely buy a home if I had the chance! I can consider living in a city - if its not too big and when its very convenient and practical for your living. But I have to say, I think its better to live in the province.

I prefer living in a province rather than to be in a concrete jungle, where all kinds of pollution is ever present. Moreover, I can have enough sleep because the environment is tranquil and calm.

Hi chiwasaki! How I wish I can live in the country/rural area. But my work is in the city so I have to live with in a city life. When i have a few days off, i go visit my parents who is living in the country. I like it there because the air is so fresh, no noisy busses and horns of cars. And the atmosphere is just so fresh. And time isn't running fast. there.

well, as for me i would like to live where i was born. i was born in Cebu City Philippines. Cebu now a days is a progressive city just like manila. i work here in manila since i was graduated last 2002 till at this present. i choose to work here in manila coz of the wage value unlike our place still in minimum wage. it's a practical way for me to work here rather than to working were i was born.
