It took me longer to get there but the strawberries were on sale

I live in an area where the nearest grocery store is Superstore and Safeway and Sobeys happen to be about between ten and twenty minutes walk. In other words, instead of being close to each other the other two are quite a good walking distance away. Well since I now had a point card for Sobeys I looked at the flier and saw that the strawberries were on sale. So I got out my insulated bag so that I could pick up some frozen food - already on sale and had extra points, since there was no reason just to walk all that way for strawberries, and went on my way. The strawberries are delicious and I did get a bargain on the frozen entrees. Arm was a bit sore when I got home though. I did my Superstore shopping in the evening. So I guess now I will take the extra walk when there is a bargain and that was after I had did the washing, hung it up taken it in, and had something for lunch. Yes and I lost a little on my waist as well.

great you got triple benefits,perhaps one more 2 health related, and 2 financial you got the health related benefits by walking all the way to the store. Eating strawberries gave you another health related benefit. And you saved money : thats financial benefit. You also had one more financial benefit, Guess What??

Oh the interesting discussion and doing all those comments. That is a no brainer. We all know we get paid for writing here. I do not have a car or a license, but then do not consider it a financial benefit since there are things I missed by not having a car or a license, like driving all the way to Toronto or to Vancouver or to the States and going on the cruise ship there. Still have to save money for it and right now too much going on. I do not know if it is less medical costs because I have to pay for Blue Cross and what I paid for this year is not carried out to next. I hope it would because I have teeth that need capping.

I never thought of going there much. But I did need the walk and the last time I measured my waist, I thought I had better get it down. Now I have to save money for the new clothes I have to buy. ;

I am sure the extra walking adds relish to your walk. Perhaps you can get a rolling cart soon so that you can shop and then not hurt your arm carrying things back. You are doing well it seems.

I was thinking of getting one for when my friends are on holiday and I cannot get a ride. One of my friends always passes Sobeys on the way home from work and I was thinking if I could go there and meet her there, that I could get a ride home and just have to walk there. It would save me a lot of time. But then I would have to know her schedule. There are some things on sale on Tuesday, but they are not that important unless Superstore does not have zucchinis as they did the last time.

I think I would walk a little further to get something on sale as well. You got some healthy strawberries and you got some exercise doing it. I picked up some strawberries yesterday at Aldi's. They were 99 cents for a pound of them. I got 2. I sliced some up last night and they were actually really sweet.

The same as here. It must be that low American dollar. WE have been getting quite a few bargains lately. Usually up here it is almost $3 for two lb regular and of course a lb coss about $!.29 and when you get two lbs there is a chance that some might spoil. But I do not have to worry. I got two renters and they should all be gone before the next time.

You really need one of those collapsible baskets on wheels that I see people with when they walk to and from the stores. Or a small wagon--or do you have a suitcase with wheels? That would save your arms from being so tired on that long walk!

WE do have them at Superstore with the labels on them. Hmm I wonder if the Sobeys people would kill me if I walked in with one of those. Of course, it would have to be insulated. I was thinking of getting one. They also sell them at Walmart, but the Walmart one is not as good and they have them at Zellers, but they are not the insulated kind. Right now I have to keep the money for other things, but I do wonder whether it would make me go a little faster.

Sounds like you found some good bargains and lost a few lbs., not only that but it sounds like you got some healthy stuff as well. Walmart is about an hour walk from here, Food Lion, probably 45 minutes give or take. Now I have a bike though, but no way to secure it so it doesn't get stolen. Anyway, I'm glad you got back safely as well, the heat has been intense, not sure about where you are but still just wow.

Our Walmart does not sell the fresh produce yet. There is talk about one of the Walmarts in our city getting it, but do not know for sure. I thought it was the one here, but we have older places in the city with a greater population so it might have gone there. It was really hot, but I must have a bit of Italian in me, so I could take it. I was thinking of getting a bike but still have not gotten over from my scare of falling off one when I was around 13 or 14. We have concrete roads here so if you fall it is dangerous and we do not have bicycle paths, unless you go to the park and that is miles away.

No doubt there are benefits from the exercise. Many of us would not be so motivated to just go out and walk for exercise. But, like you, if we have a reason to walk, then we do it. You may not want to do it all the time (for the sake of the arm), but variety in your days is nice.

I would not like to do it when it is too cold or it looks like it might rain. My arm is fine now but my shoulder aches. I do wish the store was closer. There is a town in our province that we visit at least twice a year and all the major grocery stores are kitty corner from each other, but then I love the city and am not a small town girl so that is out.
