Azkals game versus kuwait is really thrilling for the azkals to get to the next level.. although they lost the game, they are still winners because it is the first time that Philippines joined fifa and the team make it until this level.. so cheers, there are still more years to play. it isn't over..

I didn't get to watch the game yesterday, but it's sad that they lost. But personally, I expected it because I knew that the Kuwaiti team's ranking is way higher than ours. Besides, the Azkals is still a young team. Give them more time and more experience and we'll soon see them in FIFA. Go Azkals!

Yes it is an honor to compete with them who's been a solid team for about 5 years now. I like what the assistant coach of the Kuwaiti team said, that he hopes to see the Azkals as one of the top 10 football teams in Asia. With more experience and unity, I'm sure they will be.

Yes, I'm really proud for the Philippine Azkals eventhough they lost to kuwait in the second round of the FIFA world cup qualifier, for me if not for the suspension of Aly Borromeo and Stephen Schrock, this could be a different ball game, the Philippine Azkals could have won if not for the suspension of the 2 players. I really like the hardwork and determination of Philippine Azkals.

The Philippine national football team (a.k.a. Azkals) has been affiliated with FIFA since 1930. Its association - the Philippine Football Federation, abbreviated as PFF - was founded in the year 1907. In fact, the Philippines was considered one of the oldest football associations in Asia. And did you know that Paulino Alcantara who was born to a Spanish father and a Filipino mother was considered to be the greatest goalscorer in one Spanish football club in Europe? Philippines has always been participating in FIFA matches. It so happened that they did not reach the higher stages of the qualifying rounds. They were not even using Azkals as the name for the team back then. The Azkals' recent match against Mongolia was a pre-qualifying match. It's just like a warm-up match and the winner in that leg proceeds to the regular round of the main qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup. Now with all the "warm-up" matches that the Philippines have participated in all those previous World Cup opportunities, it is only until now that they were able to reach the regular round, after beating Mongolia. That was the highest achievement of the team so far. In Round 1, the Philippines faced Sri Lanka. And they emerged victorious after a 5-1 aggregate score, in favor of them. That was the next best thing that happened for the team. In Round 2, they faced a powerhouse from the Middle East - Kuwait. Note that KUW (FIFA country symbol for Kuwait) ranks more than 50 places higher than PHI (FIFA country symbol for Philippines) in the overall FIFA rankings. If PHI won in that match, it would have been KUW's greatest upset and PHI's greatest achievement. They would have proceeded to Round 3 where they may face Asia's best in the likes of Australia, Bahrain, DPR Korea (North Korea), Japan and Korea Republic (South Korea). Therefore, reaching Round 2 of the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers is the Azkals' greatest achievement to date. All Filipinos, whether born in or outside of the country, should be proud of this achievement as well. Remember, it's now 2011 and the PFF has already existed since 1907.
