Article,Website or blog?which is best to get good trust and rating in Google?

I am really confused to choose any one of these to promote my referrals..I have read some articles and blogs that with your website its not easy to win google and other search engine's trust if your aim is to promote your referrals and links.What must I do? yes I am a freelancer not a team.I tried to build my own web site through free web hosting but it seems its so time consuming working on each option to design your website.but as I see many of user here having their own websites to promote their links.even I am here through one such site I found in google top picks. How many of you working with your websites or having blogs or continuously writing articles? and which one is working best for you purely to promote your links?
