Ok I am trying to figure out what the best anitbiotics are for a tooth ache and for a sinus infection. I have looked on line and there are a lot, but they really do not give the nitty gritty for me. I want to know since I am allergic to penicillian and anything like it. That too I would like to learn more about. I also have colitis but MOST anitbiotics seem to help like Doxycycline. Please let me know what you think and if you have web site please post. Thank you my friends!

Self medication isn't to be recommended, even though you have discovered you are allergic to Penicillin and have some knowledge about that..You won't know as much on the subject as a qualified GP...Unless you have a gum infection,Antibiotics won't do anything for a toothache. They MAY be able to do something for a Sinus infection, but do get Medical advice first.Colitis is inflammation of the Colon, that much I know, but It's news to Me it was treated with antibiotics..Read up on MRSA and these other so-called "Superbugs"..throwing antibiotics at colds and Flu and other conditions they can do nothing for is what got Staph.Aureus and Co. their resistance, and seemingly it's not easy coming up with something new..Hope things clear up for You!

Your colon is normally full of bacteria that help in the breakdown and absorbtion of your food..You don't want to create an imbalance in there by killing off the useful bacteria..

If one has a bacteria in their colon anitbiotics help when you have a flair up. Their first line of attack is doxy or something in that family and flagyl and I hate both since the side effects make me sick to my tummy and a headache but it does make the flair up go away. I try not to take them, but there are times when I need it.

My friend, you should not practice self medication. The best way is to consult a dentist for the toothache and a GP for your sinus infection.Antibiotics are for bacterial infections not for toothaches.Since you have said your allergic to penicillin, for what I knew most antibiotics have penicillin. So better see a doctor.

Thats funny that every one thinks I a self medicating. lol I have a tooth infection and a sinus infection. My Docotor that I have had for 10 years wanted me to find out which ones would work better for my stomache and not cause issues. He knows I like to look things up and it's like he is testing me to see if I come up with something good for my self. He is a very good doctor and does not perscribe them unless I really need them. I hate taking them in the first place as they make me feel bad before I get better.

Doxycycline is used to treat serious infections (like typhoid, syphilis and so on). If you have a toothache and sinus stuff (probably related), just take painkillers like paracetamol. They'll do a lot more good than antibiotics will. Why don't you just see a dentist?!

If you are allergic to antibiotics, it would be better to let a doctor give medications to you.

I think it's better if you go and see a doctor, it's not good to self medicate, sometimes it's risky or the medicine wont really cure you because it's not the right one for your condition.

See thats why I am on her at Mylot to find out what types of anitbiotics everyone took so that I can figure out what is best when I present it to my dr. I am studying to be a nurse and don't want to self medicate. It is dangerous

You should definitely see a doctor about this. Antibiotics can be very dangerous, even fatal, if they are the wrong ones. Also, it is not good to use them alot as you can build a resistance to them. I''ll tell you right now antibiotics will do nothing for a tooth ache. I ve had several urinary tract infections sinus infections and ie NEVER used antibitoics. They always get better on their own. Antibiotics are very harmful to the body i feel.
