For a homemaker time management is very important because she has to do so many jobs simultaneously. As a homemaker i divided my time for each job but still while i am doing something i start thinking about the other one or the next one. Sometimes i feel that my life just go like this means in the morning i think what i have to do in the noon, in noon time i think about the dinner and other things which i have to do in the evening time and such like that. Does it happen to you also?

Yes, when I was running a household I did have to organize and divide my time. I was working a full time job and had a troubled grandchild I was trying to raise. And the thing I always hated about it was you had to do over again the next day. Most of it anyway. Never ending jobs had to be done.

I think this happen to a lot of people even if they are not homemaker because they are busy and have to plan for their next task in order to be more efficient.

Totally agree with you though I am not a homemaker myself. I think homemaker has to plan everyday's meal so as to make it with good nutritional value and avoid repetition at the same time. After that, it would be more difficult if you have children to take care because you cannot leave them alone but instead have to look after them carefully. Then, you have to do all the housework left such as cleaning whihc can be quite time consuming. Therefore, I think people should appreciate the work done by the homemakers and try to help the one in their home if they have time.

Hi 06MLam What you said is totally right. There are so many jobs which are done by a home makers other then those you mentioned as pick up and drop the kids to school, buying grocery from stores, banking and other similar work. For all that time management is really necessary.

Yes you are right that time management is necessary for everyone. Here i want to discuss as a homemaker only because most of the people thought that homemaker have so much of time so they need not to manage time.

Hello! I think each one of us who values time, thinks in the same pattern, as you think. I also make plans for the next day and note down (on my mobile handset) things 'to do' the next day or day after.

We use a calendar to mark off days we have appointments so we can look up and see what the other person has on. Sometimes I start planning my time a lot more . When I was working I used outlook and planned out many of my tasks, and assigned times to spend on different activities. Outlook also has special functions like "recurring events" so you can enter something for a day, then tell outlook to put it on your calendar for each week or month. You might like to use something like this to plan your time for dinner each day etc. It doesn't mean you always have to stick to the calendar, but it is good to quickly look at the calendar and see what times you are probably spending on recurring tasks (like cooking and eating dinner), and what times you are free for other things.

Your idea of using the calender or outlook is just great for managing the time. We have to plan our day ahead so that the time spend on the planning can be save and we can check on the wasting of time. If we really do according to the timetable then we surely save more time for other activities or for some recreation.

I am a Computer faculty and I running my Computer Institute as well as performed lots of household work because no servant in our house. Friend the most important thing for time management is you can write each and every work which is not regular then you can manage time for that work also. I make a list for new works and then complete that work.

This afternoon I asked my 16 year old son to baby sit my 4 year old disabled son and my 2 year old daughter. Then I did 3 hours of gardening. I was bagging up rubbish, weeding and planting some new plants. I am trying to make my back garden into a hardy tropical looking garden. When my daughter goes to her childminder I like to concentrate on house work: tidying up and cleaning. I do one room at a time. From time to time I do clutter clearing and this makes my bungalow look much better.

No, I think you're actually lucky ot only think about what you're going to do for the day and that actually doesn't need time management. I think time amanagement is only for people who are actually too busy, like people who go everywhere and with an active lifestyle. For a homemaker, you can use good time management in managing your chores.

I'm always thinking about the things in which I have to do throughout the day. But sometimes multitasking, like if I am brushing my teeth, I am organizing the bathroom counter at the same time, and I will try to clean throughout the day a little at a time.

I'm not good at time management,so i just do what i've planed on my daily routine.Well,it is still efficient if you've already done what you've planed, but actually it is indeed not an easy task.Especially in the evening,we are so tired.Have a nice day.

Yes jricky1 We really find it hard to do that. Sometime i get so much irritated that i just sit and just think about the good time. it gives me energy. When there are so many work i have to do then i simply write down them on a paper and just cross one by one after finished them. Then i feel good that i did so much.

Hmmmmm.. You're definitely good at time management. You think ahead what you need to do and allot a time for each of the tasks.. I sometimes do that also but most of the time, I do not succeed since I have the attitude of a procrastinator. :(
• India
3 Aug 11
Oh jdex_143 the attitude of procrastination is very bad. This will pile the work for you and at the end you irritates.
