I have never traveled with my dogs since I have been an adult but we did travel with my dog when I was a kid a couple of times. One time was because we were moving to a different state. Have you ever traveled with your dog in a car or other way?

I didn't as a child, but we did travel once with our dalmatian and she made a stinky mess in her kennel..Then again she was never one to "bark" to get out, so we didn't know she had to go.. Today I can't travel because though Ciara isn't as bad, Penny gets horribly carsick..So just taking her to the vet is a struggle..

We are lucky we have always managed to find someone to watch out dog when we go on vacation. We almost had to cancel our trip this year though because the person who was going to watch her couldn't. We had another friend volunteer to do it at the last moment, and I was so relieved.

Yes, I have travelled both in a car and in a plane with my dog, and I have to say I don't think he really likes it, but it went well anyway. It's not something I recommend, I guess, because I think most dogs don't really enjoy it, but if you have to, it can be done.

The dog I had before this one could handle short rides, but when we moved from our old house to this house which was just a 45 minute drive, I had to pull over because she started vomiting.

I've travel by car and by train with my cat. I had her in a portable cage for pets. She disliked it loudly the first hour. But after that she became quiet. The longest she's been that portable cage was when we went by train during 8 hours straight. When she finally got out of the cage she was sweetandsour cat. When she has gone by car she doesn't have to stay long in the portable cage more than 5 hours. That is better.

I can understand the cat complaining. I would probably complain if someone put me in a box too. It is so much safer though.

When we had our dog, we used to sneak her into the motels because she was a so small that no one would notice. Well actually the motel owners did but she was such a cute little thing, they did not care. We did travel by car and we had to get out every once a while so she could do her business. That was before all those plastic bags to put the doggie do in. Just made sure that she did it near a tree or under a bush so no one would step their foot in the stuff.

Over the years I have traveled many miles with my dogs - the longest being 12,000 miles when I emigrated from the UK to Australia. I had two poodles at the time, and they were sent a week before I left. We have had many more dogs since then and they have always traveled with us in the car. We had one who was car-sick, but we cured him because we had to make an emergency dash to get our son who was stranded hundreds of miles away, so we just bundled him in the car with our other one! He was sick for the first two hours of the journey, then settled down - he was never sick again in the car! We traveled 2,000 across Australia with our two dogs - a journey of 2 days!

I traveled in 2005 with my dog called Secret to the Channel Islands. We drove to Poole and parked the car there. My dog was placed on the car deck in a carry box. We took ages to get him off due to having to let the cars go off too. Then we missed the ferry on to Sark Island. My dog came out his carry case and we all got on the water taxi. I got him and Magic my second dog pet passports but didn't go abroad with them. In 2007 my disabled baby son was born.

I have never traveled with a pet, but that's mostly because I haven't really had a pet that people usually travel with. I think dogs are really the only pets people travel with and I have never had a dog. I've only had cats, goldfish, a guinea pig, and a rabbit. It would be kind of weird to travel with any of those pets.

With the exception of my rabbit and a few of my rodents, I have traveled with all of my "kids." For a while, we (the fuzzies and I) were RVing, so they have actually been in several states. Plus, I've moved several times, so they got to see and smell a few more states. I only have three of my "kids" left--the cats. They don't get to set foot outside, but they have each gotten to stare out the windows (and, sometimes, bird watch and/or people watch) in at least 10 states. Despite having traveled extensively, none are really fond of being stuffed in their carriers (something they didn't have to deal with in the RV). They like seeing and smelling new places, but they grow tired of the hours that they get stuck hanging out in carriers until we reach wherever we're headed.

Yes, I've made a few trips with my dog. He loves traveling. The worst part of traveling with him is that we drive during winter and it is really cold. My dog is really small and he doesn't really like cold and snow. He's not used to it. His paws get all wet and muddy. I don't like that because it gets the car dirty. But, it is fun to travel with him and I wonder if he likes seeing new things!

I have also travelled with my dog when we moved to a different apartment. It wasn't really a long drive but the experience is still different since I'm travelling with my dog.

I never did have travel with our dog. Our dog is a very big bullmastiff. He is our guard dog, although he is very playful to us but he is mean to others especially to other animals be it smaller or bigger than him, as long as it is moving, he would bark as loud as he could and would do everything to reach for it. This is the very reason why, I don't travel with my pet. But how I wish I could bring him along travelling from one place to the other especially summer vacations so that he won't be left behind since he is a part of my family already.
