Hello fellow mylotters. There are some stray cats someone dumped off in my neighborhood. One of them, Gracie, took to me like crazy. Every day she waited for me and when she saw me would come running and meowing! lol. I really think she wanted to see me, and not just to eat. lol! It was sooo cute, she is so loveable. I wanted to keep her, but I cannot because I have already 5 cats and 2 are special needs. Well, Gracie got very sick. She could not keep food down, and wasn't drinking much water. She was bleeding from her rectum after she went. I was very sad, and cried because there is no way I can afford a vet visit for a stray. She would die without care. I told my friend who lives in another city, and we hatched a plan to get her help. We had to lie about how we found her, because the city will not take an animal that was not in that city. My friend told them we found her on the lawn in front of her apartment and tried to feed her, but she couldn't hold down the food. I started crying, because I'm going to miss her, and maybe because we were lying. I felt bad to do it, but had we not, she would not live long. One of the ladies kept looking at me, I knew she knew something was up. lol. But we had to stick to the lie, else they may not have taken Gracie and got her treatment from a vet. The greatest news is, all of their animals are adopted out. They took care of 3 dogs with heartworm, so I knew then they would take very good care of Gracie. Eventually she will get a home. They are going to call my friend to let her know when Gracie is adopted. I really hope she gets a good home with lots of love. That is the most important for anyone or any living thing. Now, I have to find how to get the other 3 off the street. I am worried that Gracie may have worms or some parasite, and if that is the case, the other cats will too, and they will also need to be treated and housed. If they are treated and let out again, they may get sick again because there are other cats running around, some stray, some owned. Who knows if those cats are healthy? Have you rescued an animal? Have you ever lied to someone in order to get an animal help and/or shelter? Would you help a stray?

Me and my family are KNOWN to take in all sorts of strays to cats, dogs, birds reptiles you name it we did it and still do. They seem to be drawn to us for some reason. It sounds like your cat has feline parvo. It is not the same thing as the canine version they are just related in the fact they both exibit simalar signs. Bloody stool, high fever, lethargic, you name it I am sure she has it. Good news is that it is treatable and it sound like you caught her just in time too! I hope she find a home soon. You are a wonderfull person for taking on this type of responsibility and I have had to lie not necessarly about this but other things too due to the regulations. It pains me and I have to go to confession ya ya I know I'm a goof, but it did bother me. The thing is WE are responsible for animals, God said so himself. That is what I take comfort in my self.

lol! My friend and I were talking about this. There are some saints who are on our side, you know. St. Anthony and St. Francis of Assisi. Probably more, too. I never heard of feline parvo! Is it catchy? She has 1 or 2 sisters (not sure if the fluffy one is related to her or not, but they look similar in color and in the face, and around the same age) and a brother that all hang around here.

Though, it probably would not hurt at all to confess.

We rescue many strays out here in the country. People just drop their cats and dogs out here. We have a wonderful group here who will help us with cats, we keep the strays as foster cats and they are given vet care and even food until there is room in the shelter, then the cats go into the shelter until adopted. This means we can keep them and not just have to kill them, there are so many we could never afford to do this on our own.

How awful someone would drop off a pet in the country! They cannot defend themselves from wild animals and can die. Also they do not have immunity to some disease and can get sick. That is just so mean to do to a pet.
