Hello my dear myLot friends. I am very appreciative for all the PM's and well wishes from all concerned friends. I was away in Arkansas for 2 1/2 weeks and wow what a journey it was. Firstly, the weather was 112 - 120 degree Fahrenheit each and every day. - To add I was very sick on the drive there, four hours into drive my car broke down. We were somewhat protected as all of a sudden the car began to smoke and die a few feet from an exit and a few feet from a service station. Long story short, what should have been in-expensive, turned into a very costly repair, as once the service station saw my expensive vehicle and my Illinois plates they knew we had no options. Then we had to walk in the heat for a mile to find a place to sit while the 4 hour repairs were done. While in Arkansas I had to go to the emergency care center due to 102 fever and bronchitis. Finally after a week, I was able to go out into the scorching weather and try and enjoy some time, but oh boy am I glad to be home and back here on myLot. I will just say that maybe it was something telling me that moving to Arkansas will not be such a good idea. Gut instincts tell me that maybe I need to stay put no matter what, whatcha think? lol

hwg: welcome back. I was thinking loudly where is HWG. Not be seen. no dancing avatar and all that for these few days. Now I come to know u had been to Arkansas and had enjoyable tough times. good., It is normally said "Even if it is heaven our own place is far better than the heaven." Added to that heat was was really high. Even here now it is hot ranging 90 +. Happy to know u are fine now and returned for mylot as a whole lot.

Of joy!! You have no idea how much I missed so many of you. I was miserable a great part of my time there. I missed giving my daily hugs and reading all of our happy times here. We do travel there once a year, although last year we had to skip the trip. This trip was to determine my probable move there but seems that something above is saying that I need to stay put. I am grateful for all of you and so happy to be back.

Am I pleased to see you back again! I was so worried. I knew that you couldn't communicate but after the message that you had arrived, but that you were even sicker than before... and then nothing more, I didn't know what to think. I knew that the days were passing and the time for your return was drawing nearer and... now you're back YAY! When odd things happen I always try and read something into them, even when it is not probably there at all but this certainly does look like it might be a hidden message for you. If it has given you even more energy to do something so that you have to stay put where you are, then maybe that was what it was indeed trying to tell you. You so obviously don't want to go there so I cross myfingers and toes for you, dear sweet friend, that you will find something and really, really soon! *HUGS*

I knew that I was in your thoughts I did inform PA after you arrived and that you were returning but most days while you were away I was here just reading and not posting much at all except for PMs. Was your BF brought up there? How would he manage to survive there now that he is used to the city life? I can adapt to most places but I don't like the two extremes, city or deserted countryside. I prefer the inbetween, a big town with countryside for a few miles before the next big town. So if you had been taken ill when the breakdown happened you would, if I have understood correctly, have been miles from a hospital or any form of emergency treatment too?

Hellooo mysd Oh my we are discussing again, alas! lol Gosh it was 1am when I finally got up to pack prior to my departure. I procrastinated so much as I was dreading this trip. Being so congested as I was I really did not want to go, but then on the other hand did not want to spoil the trip for the little one. I was so sick during the entire ride and having the air conditioning on the entire time must have made me sicker. It was such a scary thought to see the car begin to smoke up and shut down on the expressway that I was like, great exactly what I did not need. Then having to walk that one mile in that such extreme heat, I was about to pass out. Upon sitting there I kept saying OMG, there is no way I can move. At least here I can hop and skip and get to where I need to get. Living in Arkansas means 3 - 5 mile drive just to get to a gas station and or store. I would get so depressed sitting day in and day out at home and no one to talk to. I say this as most people there, pretty much eat and sleep all day long. Though I don't do much here at least I have the option if I want to. lol Thanks for worrying about me and know I did think about you the whole time I was there and also mentioned to Frank as to my wondering how you were often.

Yea he was born and Raised in Little Rock Arkansas and he vows not to return to live there. Though I brought up the subject once while there as to what would he do if his mother passes sometime in the near future. She is not well and had a few spells while we were there, where she has congestive heart failure and is determine to do more then she actually can. The home she is residing in, belongs to my boyfriend and she is not able to upkeep it as it deserves. It is quite a large and beautiful home but she is not well and his sister can only do so much. The mortgage is paid for in full and I asked would he sell in the future and he said no, so maybe someday that is his later plans. This is really deep wooded country side where his house is way up on the mountain top. Oh gosh yes, if I had taken ill during the breakdown, OMG a hospital or treatment place would have been no where in sight. Nor near his home either. This City girl will not adapt easily. lol

This has been an unusual year, heat and weather wise in many places. I think the move would be hard for you anyway, because of all the time you have lived in your present area. I am sorry your car did this to you as well. So did the B/F come back early as well? Maybe he and his siblings need to make a family plan for mom.

Oh Boy and I happy to send hugs today. Yes we all came back together as the heat was just so unbearable and even the lakes and rivers felt like saunas. My boyfriends sister will be there for another year. I am thinking that no matter what I need to stick it out here and try the impossible to make it here. Eventually we will move there but for now the care is taken care of for a year.

Wow, you sure had a tough time. Sorry, I wish I could have helped you out. I live in Howell county in Missouri and am very close to the Arkansas border. The temperatures have been terrible here and we finally are getting some relief with rain and temps in 80's for a change. Glad you made it back ok and are now home and comfortable.

Hi Debra Thank you for the well wishes and I am very happy to be back here at home and on myLot. I hope life is a tiny bit better for you as I recall you made a major change and I have thought of you quite often hoping all can get back to normal for you, I have continually held strong prayers my friend for you. Oh gosh yes you too had the really bad humid temps. I remember night after night sitting on the deck at 10pm and it still being 101 degrees. I am glad you are getting some relief.

I'm staying with my daughter and they have air conditioning. The few times we've had to get out and go somewhere it took alot out of me. Her two year old couldn't take it either, he'd get sick and cry if we had to be out in it. We went to a ball game that my granddaughter had and they called it off as several of the team members got sick. It is dangerous to try to be out in it. I feel so bad for Texans and those in the southwest who are still having high temps and a drought as well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers HWG. I will be starting school on Aug. 18th and hopefully a new career when I am done with this schooling. BUT, that is a year away. I will do my best to be here as much as possible in the meantime.

Oh wow Debra it must have been way too hard to function there with all the heat. It is too dangerous for anyone with health issues and or on medications. How exciting to hear that you will be starting school, and hopefully a new career. I am sure this was a tough decision but at least you are able to do so. Definitely will keep you in my prayers as I do know what it is like to loose a job and have to worry. I am glad you are able to come here at times as this is such a wonderful place to vent, discuss, laugh and tear. Sharing is so caring my friend.

Well, your experience with your Car breaking down reminds me of one time when my husband and I went to Montana and our Car broke down. The problem was the place that fixed it, it was only temporary and we had to keep it in the shop the whole time, and it almost broke down again on the way home, so we had to PRAY the whole way home. Got home and found out the place knew nothing about repairing cars so to fix the problem it cost us over $4000. (We would have made a nice down payment on something else for sure.) Glad you are home my friend, and glad to see you back in myLot as you were missed. I hope this finds you feeling a little better with your Cold as well. As for moving, God might be telling you you need to stay put for now.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has experienced awful car trouble when traveling far from home ... well, "glad" really isn't the right word but I guess it is more "comforting" maybe as misery likes company? We were traveling back from visiting my parents several years back, and the brakes gave out on the car. Fortunately, it happened when we were trying to find a hotel and not while we were going down the highway at 65mph and needed to stop. It turned out that it was just a leak in the brake line that could be patched temporarily until we got home and had someone we knew fix it properly. Still, we needed to stop every so often and put brake fluid in, and it took a day longer than it was supposed to getting home, which meant a lot of added expenses.

Hi Tina! Gosh I so missed sharing my daily hugs. Though the family was nice, I just wanted to be home. Yes traveling emergencies can be such a huge unforeseeable expense. Expense that we did not have to begin with but had to figure out as we were way too far from home and not quite near to our destination. I am much better, thanks for asking and sad that you too had such a horrid traveling experience.

Sorry to hear you had all that trouble. I just got back to Canada from Vegas. My daughter and I drove down there from Calgary, Alberta and it took us one full day. We left here on Sat morning by 10am and got to Vegas Sun morning at 10am. We stopped only for 4 hours to sleep. So it took us 20 hours of driving. It was a great drive, the scenery was beautiful, especially through Montana. We took my car, a 2011 Hyundia Accent. We didn't have any car problems at all, but if we did I wasn't too worried about it since I have Roadside Assistance and I have full warranty on my car. Had I had any problems I would have just had it towed to Hyundia at no expense to me and I would get a room from Roadside Assistance at no cost to me. We had great weather too, of 100 to 120 degrees but to be honest it was too hot for me to go on the strip during the day with that heat. I had to stick to sitting around the pool during the day and then go out at night. That was really hot too at about 100 degrees but at least there was a little bit of wind. We also had a great ride home and again it took us one full day.

Yes it was quite devastating as it was not only a job for me but my career. I am having difficulty getting started again because many employers are saying I am way over qualified. Many do not want to take the risk because they feel once I get a better one I will up and leave. I just need a job and sadly it is not coming easily. Thank you for your kind words.

Hi chrislotz. I am happy to hear that you had a wonderful trip both ways and all went well without any issues. We go to Arkansas once a year and have never had any issues in the past with a car and or the weather. This year the weather for some odd reason was unusually way too humid and hot. I have a fairly new car and all the maintenance is kept up so the only thing I can think of is that the hot humid heat was way too much stress for the engine or something like this. lol There was absolutely no wind at all and it was still 101 degrees at 10pm at night. Even the home full air conditioning was not cooling the house. Imagine being so congested in the head and chest during this weather. lol I know I was very sick on the trip and was disgusted sitting there. Not wanting to spoil the trip for the others I strolled along hoping all would be fine. Yes I use to have Triple AAA roadside also but financially I have been going through a great deal because I lost my job of 19*+ years and I had to make some recent changes and that was something I had to let go of sadly. This also was a trip to determine if I would move there as my boyfriends mother is not well and she is living in my boyfriends house there. Being that I am having a tough time here, we thought maybe helping there and a change of pace might just turn things around. Though I was hesitant about the change, I thought maybe I could actually adapt. Well having experienced such a tough time, I am compelled into thinking that it is best to stay in familiar grounds. I was born and raised here in IL so I know what I am in for here as opposed to there. Thanks friend for responding to my discussion.

I am so grateful to have made it home safe and in one piece and so ready to try again to make some changes here. Hopefully soon I can land a job, but I will keep trying.

Well, you may not have to stay put, but Arkansas certainly doesn't sound as though it has been good to you. It sounds about as good of an idea as me being in Florida--which is where I am currently stuck. Since I've gotten here, I've discovered all sorts of new allergies, had tonsillitis for the first time ever (unusual in an adult), lost my dog, almost lost one of my cats, am now needing to replace the transmission and radiator on our car... The list goes on, and that has all been over the span of about eight months.

Oh wilsongoddard I am sorry to hear so many changes and problems arisen with in Florida. I do hope very soon you get some sort of happier times and or lessening of issues there. Gosh how terrible to make a move and hoping for the best to then find things are worse then before. Eight months is a long time of ongoing problems maybe soon something good will happen. I will keep my fingers crossed. I will be hoping for a better time for you and yes I really think that although life here is not so peachy that maybe it won't be as bad as perhaps going there may be for me.

Double and triple For all the ones I could not give out during my away time. *sad* I was so sick and it was sooo hot there. Oh my I could not wait to come back and so we did 5 days early. Yah! Though the family can be fun, I was so anxious to be home as the heat was so unbearable. Even the waters in the lakes and rivers felt like hot saunas. There was no relief during our whole time there. It was unusually super humid for this time of year but thankfully we did make it back safe and happy to be in hot but not so humid temperatures. I was so sick that skinny me lost another 10 lbs so it was time for me to come home or I could disappear. lol.. My boyfriends daughter is still visiting for yet another week before she returns to England with her mom, so I will be here off and on during her last week with us. Hi Dawn At 1am the night before, something was saying to me, that this yearly trip was going to be difficult. I was so sick and packing at 1 am and was a grump as I climbed into the car at 6am. I kept saying I want to be positive about my potential move as maybe a fresh start might do me good. When the car broke down and I had to walk that mile in 115 degree heat, I almost passed out. It was right then I thought, no this does not seem like a good idea after all.

Hello Letran. I go to Arkansas once a year for 3 weeks to a month, although last year I had to skip the trip. My boyfriend owns a home there and with offline issues here in IL being so tough, I was considering moving there since his mother is also not well. I arrived there with so many issues and being sick that somehow my hesitancy about moving was affirmed. Though my offline issues here are still not repaired, I figured at least I know what I am dealing with and not entrapped into yet newer issues there. So for now my friend, I feel that no matter what I face here I have to persist on trying to repair. Thanks for stopping by.

I am so sorry to hear that you had such a terrible journey! Trust me, I can relate, because my little one was severely ill on the way to visit my parents not so long ago. It has made me nervous and a little scared to travel any distance now, because I am afraid that it will happen again not to mention that she did not receive very good care in the hospital in one of the states. I am glad that you made it home safely, and it sounds like you are feeling better. I also tend to take heed of what I think might be "signs", although I am not really that focused on them and do not live my life by them. Still, if something seems to be too difficult to do ... or something just seems to fall right into place without much effort ... then I will generally at least think long and hard before making any decisions, especially if I was not sure before whatever I interpret as a "sign" happened.

I am glad that you did not make the others sick, because that would have been even worse, especially since you would probably have had to take care of them and it sounds like you had enough to do just trying to take care of yourself. I do know that when you are having breathing problems, especially if they are severe (like when you have bronchitis) then the heat and humidity makes it even more difficult for you to breath and will make you even sicker. They usually have advisories out when the weather gets like that as those without breathing problems can be affected, so the ones with them are at greater risk, which is probably another reason why you were so miserable. I also understand the "known evil" versus the "unknown evil". Even if things are not the way we want or need where we are it is more comforting knowing our surroundings than trying to start over in a new place, especially if it is not really where we want to be. Adjustment is difficult, and trying to adjust to too much all at once can be overwhelming.

Starting next week when my step-daughter heads back to England this girl has to diligently get a J.O.B. Though I have been trying so hard somehow I have to add to the tries now even more. I hope not to get sick over it so a few pms may come your way for a few breathing and venting sessions.

Hi Pa! Oh gosh I do remember the discussion about your little one being sick. I was afraid I was going to make the others in the car sick but apparently they were much healthier and were okay. I was outright miserable and I think my over stressing prior to leaving really drove my resistance so low that I was so sick the day before we left. I did not want to spoil the trip for the others and although I was unhappy I muddled through, causing me to get worse. Oh yes I am much better and last night I slept a full 8 1/2 hours something I have not done in years. lol I guess the fear of moving there made things worse for me and with all the occurrences I guess I figured that if I can't make it here at least I know what I am dealing with, where as there I would be up on the mountains with no way out and or to try figure the "way out". So for now we will persist yet even more *sigh* on how we can remain here.

Hello hardworkinggurl, I read in a discussion that you were in holidays for 3 weeks, so I have not participated in the saturation of your email. I am sorry that you were sick. I never saw a heat wave with 120° F, and you were probably better inside. Remind me to not go in Arkansas if I visit USA. I have also experienced inexpensive repairs becoming very expensive when you are far from home : I suppose that all garage owners are going in the same school. Finally myLot is not a bad place for holidays. Welcome back, you were missing at myLot.

Caesar's Mushroom - The king of Southern Europe mushrooms and the Holy grail for a mushroom picker : Caesar's mushroom -- Amanita caesarea --, picked by myself this afternoon of August, a month in advance : it likes hot weather and rain, and enjoys 2011. It is the best edible mushroom in France, eatable raw or cooked with oil, salt, garlic and parsley. Sadly, I had no camera with me and took this picture in my garden :(
10 lbs in 3 weeks ? You are certainly very tired ! Weather is very strange this year. We have a lot of rain in my country, and mushrooms are growing with one month in advance. Maybe you should have chosen Europe for your holidays.

My boyfriends little one who is 11, visits us for a month every year from England. We then take here down to visit Grandma in Arkansas. This was a very unseasonal time as normally it is hot and humid but never in the 100's for so many days like it was. I need to take care of me for a few weeks to come as I can't afford to loose anymore weight. Maybe one year the little one refuses to come out, as you know once teenager, she may not want to, we may have to go England to visit. Though I suspect she still loves staying with us.

Hello Topffer I did not have any internet access so I could not send my friendly emails to anyone while I was there. I was missing everyone and wondering if everyone was okay. Oh gosh, while there I lost another 10 lbs so it was time for me to get back home before I disintegrated. There was no point in my routine exercising as I was sweating a storm daily. lol I had days I could not even breathe. Even the home air conditioners were not cooling and the rivers and lake waters felt like saunas as none of them, even when generating were ever cool enough. Yes I think myLot would have been the better vacation for me.

What an unfavorable travel It was!You were surely full of zest when you set out.It never rains but it pours. They really ripped you off at the service station and unexpectedly you fell ill.I am surprised that It was 112 - 120 degree Fahrenheit each and every day, that is say,48.8 degrees celsius.

Hi changjiangzhibin Oh gosh yes the weather was so unusually hot and so humid. Being that I was so congested I had difficulty breathing. Air conditioning in the homes was barely cooling and the lakes and rivers felt like hot saunas. It is usually hot and humid but nothing like what they experienced this summer. Sadly at 10pm at night it was still 101 Degrees, which usually for this time of the year at night it drops in the 70's. I called there earlier today and was told they are getting some relief finally but still a bit humid. Gosh the unexpected expenses were a killer but sadly it is what service stations do when they know customers are traveling.

So true as I have opted the indoors much more due to the crazy humid weather. Sad because when summer hits we all look forward to the outdoors, but it is sort of impossible when the heat causes us to feel so tired.

You are so right where it is so unusual and affecting all countries one way or another. It is weird though as you say it is just way too of either the cold and or hot, as if we can't get some kind of mild.

I remember a few years back we went on a treep like that to Arkansas and tthree hourson the way I bent forward to adjust the airconditioner when a tiny straw flew into my eye and stuck there. I felt a burning sensation, which grew worse as I attempted to drive on. I ended in a hospital on the way, not able to drive or even open my eye for three days after they took out the straw. When we got to Arkansas a week later our vacation was less excitting than usual, but we had fun in nature with the green grass, the woods and the mountains.

Hi meirgoren and welcome to myLot! Oh my this sounds like a really terrible situation you underwent. I hope there are no side effects from it but sad on how you had to go through it. Sometimes we pay attention so much detail on planning a wonderful trip and unforeseeable circumstances occur which cause the trips to be somewhat spoiled. I am glad that for a least a bit of time you did enjoy some what was left of the vacation and thank you so much for responding.
