I don't think Lasallian should ask for that kind of salary! WOW! Generous!

I went to the job interview yesterday somewhere in Makati, applying for graphic artist who has background in marketing as well. At first I have my basis before I decide on what to put on desired salary. I am also particular with the accessibility as well if it could be easy or not, then I don't find it that so easy so I put a little bit high than the usual let us say 15K. I have been waiting for minutes or up to 1 hour until I was interviewed by this Lasallian who is fond of speaking English though he is not even a half foreign, as I could see he is pure Filipino who graduated in La Salle. He have seen that I graduated from Benilde so most likely he really treated me well and the way he talks he was really friendly to the extent that he likes helping and motivating people. I don't know what is his position but I am sure he is not the HR and he is more on in marketing position. When I was already asked for desired salary I usually write 15K because in companies that I have been applying that range is usually high for them as graphic artist. But this one is really different, surprisingly he told me that " I don't think Lasallian should ask that kind of salary, because we are generous here so I would put 15k to 20K" At the back of my mind I mean HUWWAAAATTTT???? Am I dreaming? Because I really used to the interviewer from the company that will give low salary for the graphic artist or in Filipino term is "BINABARAT KA PA!" That is why it is rarely ask too much high salary then my highest range of asking them is 15K only so that if they are gonna lower it at least the salary is not too much low. I am still hoping that I would be the candidate that will be chosen by next week. I am hoping that they will give the trust on me to face the challenge on how to promote their product by contributing it on doing graphic design. And if in case that I will be accepted on this field then most likely I will be allowed to promote this product in all kinds of social networking sites and in other local forums. I hope this career is for me then I would be very happy if I got the chance to have it.

Wow! I think that kind of offer is a very generous one indeed! Good for you. In the event that the job is given to you, you'd better not screw this up. You should prove to them that you deserve the trust that they gave you, and that you deserve this kind of benefit that you'd get from them. I hope you do get the job. Good luck with your venture.

Yes I would be really pray hard for this. I even asked other people to pray for me to get this job. I would really want to work with them and ready for a challenge as creative slave. I am hoping that I would be chosen by next week. This is on my top of the wish list company that I have attended during interview. Aside from that I would be assigned in different branches.

Wow, I hope you get the job! Blowout! But you know, I have been to lots of job interviews and application before, and I learned how to work on this desired monthly income question. It's like a million dollar question giving me anxiety attacks before hahaha With this, you must put in something like a little more ambitious. In your case, Graphic Designing is really a tedious job, my boyfriend is a freelance Graphic Designer, and I know how in demand your are in the industry. Not all people can do the designs that you can and imagine how you help a lot of business with your cleverness. So it is okay to be a little ambitious. But don't forget to put in an open and close parenthesis that the amount you placed is still negotiable. So say it's okay for you to get 15K a month, but really you desire for 20K. You can put 20,000php (negotiable) that's it. Because some companies are really giving the amount you put on the application form. A friend of mine experienced this when she applied on an International Bank in Makati. She wants 25K as her starting salary, but she put 22k. So 22K it is on her job offer. When she and her colleagues talked about the salary offer (you know these kind of talk when majority of you are new to the company), that's when she found out that the company is really generous in giving the amount you write on the paper. So now I know. LOL.

Okay I will give you the blowout on January once I get hired. Who are the clients of your boyfriend? Yes it is in demand but it is very competitive at the same time. That is the reason why I still find hard to get a job. Most of the time I am still putting negotiable. When I applied in Makati somewhere in Chino Roces Ave. I've written the 12,500 desired salary which it was not asked by the HR if it is negotiable or not but she just checked it. I am a bit good with that company for a fact that it is accessible. I am praying too hard that I would be accepted on this company and ready to become the creative slave.

If you think you're worth it then demand for it but always be open to compromise. Companies normally look for the most qualified candidates even if they have to pay more as long as they can get the services they want. You can declare your expected salary high that way you'll give the impression that you are fit for the job and not just for some breadcrumbs.

That is why I am totally hoping and pray that I would be the most qualified candidate. My job that I am applying for is really competitive. That is the reason why it takes time for me to get hired. Though I still want to think positive by pursuing in applying the job that I want.

Well, if the offer is made, why not right? If you think you deserve more than 15K, and if you can deliver the job, then that should be fine. Besides, nobody is expected to make any sort of living with that small amount. I know I can't. Both me and my husband are working, and we're earning about double that. But after taxes and bills, look at what we're left with. It's hard to live on that income, and I say if I can do the job better than anyone, LaSallian or otherwise, then I deserve the pay that I put in my job application. It's usually helpful to put (negotiable) on your job applications so that if ever they think it's that high, then you can amend your application and put there how much they can afford. Good Luck! Hope you get the job!

Thank you for the idea. That is the reason why I don't want yet to get married because we are not yet confident enough with our financial stability. We need to work more hard. As of the moment 15K would be enough for me as a Single but when I'll be getting married for sure I have to work more hard in order for us to survive. Yes usually I am really putting negotiable just in case they can't afford to give my demands. Honestly I am not yet confident to demand for more since I am not yet confident with my capabilities as graphic artist.

i think 15k is just enough, not very high enough that the companies could not be able to afford and not too low that you also cannot be able to meet ends. i dont care about that Lasallian, maybe he is just going overboard and feeling too high. Anyways, i hope that you will get the position and pls update us also :)

Or maybe it could be part of his marketing strategy speech. Well as long as he have to make sure that he is telling the truth that could be fine by me. I think he told me that because I am from Benilde. But then it doesn't mean that he told me that then I would also do that in other companies like asking for more than 15k. It depends it is a case to case basis. I remember when I have an interview in Araneta Ave, I asked 18k to 20K because first of all I realized that I don't like the accessibility it was too far from our home. Then there would be overtime work that I have to go home around 11:00 PM. Honestly it was bit scary. I suggest that price as part of saying that I don't like this job. I mean instead of telling them straight that I don't to be here then better to demand that could be impossible for them to offer for you. I am only saying 15K so that in case that they would lower the price range then it is not too low. Yes I will also update if I will be getting hired soon whether on this company or in the other company.

Hello Metatronik, He's a NUT, idiotic, ambitious and out of his mind. Studying in La Salle doesn't make any one different only you're head gets Bigger. unless he's aggressive or competitive all the time then that's good for him. this person that you were referring to will likely try to choose jobs in his favor to get a higher salary but unfortunately the pressure will be on him when the time comes. Hey, Good to your job i hope you make a great contribution with your work to mylot one day.
