Son of the Moon

A friend sent me this story a few days back - "A beloved asks the moon to set, to allow morning to come so that she is able to meet her lover. The moon agrees but puts a precondition - she should first love the moon. She agrees. The beloved is taken by the moon to bed and she begets a son of the moon.
Morning comes and the beloved reaches her lover. On seeing the son in her lap and finding that the son is not from him, he slaughters the beloved then and there."
I am highly moved by the story and foolishness of the lover in slaughtering the beloved, without taking into consideration that what she did with the moon was to be able to meet the lover. In my opinion, she deserved an appreciation of the lover for her sacrifice for her love to the man.
With this, I add, we all are on our journeys of life, to reach our destinations, which is one for each one of us. If on the way, we drift due to our compelling circumstances, it is not our fault. Indeed we have te best intention of reaching the destination.

this is actually a really lovely story.. although i have to disagree, because i know my partner would rather me wait just a few more hours, than to give someone to someone else ie- the moon, that is hers, ie- me.. lol!

Chick dear, sacrifice need be respected. If not, there is no reward. With this, people will forget sacrificing for noble causes. This is my pain.

chick dear, the point here is that the villain denied her chance to see the lover and asked for a fee. Such things are happening all around us, when powerful persons exploit the weak ones. My pain is that she made a sacrifice and it was not respected.

she should not had agreed with the moon.She had done wrong so she should get punished.If she was a true lover she should have her own powers to reach her lover not to listen to the moon .Because on this earth and everywhere love which is pure and unselfish is powerful than everything.God is nothing but love.If she had used her own powers of love she would had been happy with her lover.In the story the girl,the moon and the lover all are wrong.
she should not had asked the moon to go away,she should wait for the morning to come.The moon should not cross his limits asking others lover or possession to come and sleep with him,its only that the moon was a very bad character which was using the womens weakness ,the lover of hers for her lover.The lover is also a bad person as he never thought a second what circumstances might had gone through that the girl has to do such thing ,anyways this kind of stories in the real life do happen,we should just see and leave them as we can not give judgement for such things,God knows who is right and what is wrong,We are given some "Dharma" which is to be followed and observed,if in some situations we do cross the dharma then we will face the results which will be horrible for any one to go through.

Uma, talking ideally, like the power of love, etc. does not have any practical utility. In practice, such things do happen, so we must be ready to face such situations. The girl van't challenge the powerful moon, so she succumbed. My purpose of putting this story her is to highlight plea of a true lover and her sacrifices.

why always women had to take challenges and why they should prove themselves ,why should they do sacrifices for what ? If the same situation a man is present then women does accept , a man doesnt sacrifice life.
Why ? only women,why not men ?

Women are tender, sensitive and more sincere than men. These qualities are are being taken advantage of by men. But not all men are the same. So one should not be disappointed and look for right man, with patience.

hello ram,
This story reminds me of the movie having almost same plot.
But the ending is not that tragic,thu they did not end back to each other's arms again.
This one is very tragic and I don't like story like this.
I like those fairy tales- and they live happily ever after.

Oh, that one is a sad story. Though its a fantasy, it depicts how selfish people can be when it comes to love. They have this tendency to be overprotective of their loved ones that they can't see the sacrifices done by their loved ones for their sake. Its a tragic ending and it is a warning message to everyone of us. Loving truly is good but too much of it is unhealthy.
