I Just Can't Sit Anymore.

I've been sitting in front of the computer for what seems like hours now. I've got to get up and stretch or walk around. I'm too busy to stop what I'm doing so I only have time for a quick break. What should I do? What do you do when you've been sitting for too long? I just can't take it anymore....

go somewhere else like your neighbor and have a nice chat with them for a while or if you do not want to bother them just don;t want to go there, try to go at 7/11 or any mini store that might be near your place and buy some snack.

I do work out exercises regularly or take a walk or a bike ride. It's good to do physical exercises a few times during the day. When I get a chance I go horse back riding. Which I love to do. Have a good mylotting time!

Hi Flash! I would actually suggest exercising but I’ve read that you’ve already done that and I think that’s a great way to have a break. Some simple stretching or walk will be good enough to stimulate the circulation of blood in our body. Sitting too much will make us feel some pain or discomfort to some parts of our body because it can’t circulate well. I would usually roll some piece of paper and shoot it into the trash can.

Yeah. I would usually run around the room and shoot those papers into the bin. It’s fun and you will as well get the kind of stretching that you need.

From the ergonomics of using a computer, you should do some stretches and rests at some time intervals. You should try to stand up and stretch your arms and close your eyes a bit to help soothe out the strain. Sitting out for too long is a pain in the butt, really. Maybe you can try a different sitting position like sitting sideways or sitting with legs supporting your butt. Being in the same position for a long time brings stress to your body. The body requires a variety of work and movements to function well.

hi:) when I'm online doing mylot I also enjoy myself, like listening to music or checking my facebook and twitter once in awhile, but if I cant stand it anymore I stopped for an hour or so and watch movie or talk to my friends and family, because sitting in front of the computer is also exhausting, so we all need a break after a long hours of typing and thinking.

hello flash2, where are you now? your discussion was posted 3 hours ago, and you responded to the first comments saying it was 4.30am, and then you replied to the next set of comments, an hour later, but then 2 hours later no response. i hope you have done something sensible like give up and go to bed. and as for sitting too long at a computer, as well as getting up regularly, i try to find ways to leave the computer. i also have a netbook which i use when i get fed up of sitting at my desktop, and sometimes i print of a paper copy of something and work on that instead. maybe you could see if you can find a way of moving fromthe computer.

that means you must be 8 hours behind where i am, as its now just gone 6pm here. so i get to see tomorrow before you do. though as its a completely individual expererience there is no real benefit in that. might even be a disadvantage. i just came to look at this discussion, and saw that at that time you had diligently replied straight away to every comment except the last two, and they had both been posted, at that time, an hour ago, so i wondered what had happened. i'm very good, i read discussions, as long as they aren't too long.

These days I have been sitting before my computer for a whole day that I am feeling very uncomfortable physically. As I could not find other things that interest me to do on this hot summer days. I know that it is bad for my health if I keep on doing so. Now I have decided not sit before it the whole day, but try to find something else to do instead. Take care, Flash.

That's a good thing, as you could cause yourself damage in the long term if you don't get up and exercise every once in a while when you're sat at your computer for a long time during the course of a day. I often go for a walk around the block when I realise that I've been at my computer for an hour and a half, as that's usually the amount of time that I can personally go without exercising. Just that 20 minute walk for me allows me to sit still for another couple of hours without any problems, it can really be very helpful.

I'd suggest you to stay away from your pc for a while. Lay down and close your eyes. Let your body and mind rest. In this kind of moment, you would sometime get a better idea for anything you are doing on your computer, like ideas you've never think about before. Just my two cents :-)

I like to stretch or take a walk. The walks are always nice. You get a little exercise and wake up. You're killing 2 birds with one stone. Best Wishes!

if thats how you feel, there isn't really much point in sitting there any longer. if you are feeling stuff, and sore and lethargic, and feeling grumpy like you can't be bothered, you aren't really going to be very productive are you? and even if you can muster the energy and desire to want to keep going, you'll end up not really putting much effort into it and being disappointed tomorrow probably.. i say take a break!

Good afternoon. If you can't stand it any more you need break. I work on line long hours and if I feel tired I do try distract myself by going to the kitchen, making coffee or doing some choirs around the house. It helps. Also listen to music while you are working makes you focus more.

Yes it is really tired if it is too long to sit in frot of the computer. I often get up and spend some time on something such as going to washing room, chatting with my colleagures etc.

Have you read my discussion about sitting too long and heat it can do to your health? Just stand up and stretch those legs, walk around a bit just to let the blood flow and circulate. Don't sit for to long as it can cause swelling of the legs! Stand every 30 minutes if you can!
