Do you guys work at odesk? Do you encounter having a hard time looking for a job as newbie? I really wanted to work in Odesk to have extra income but as a newbie seems like nobody wants to hire me..

Like other mylotters advice, I think you can do it.. If you have a guts you have glory later on... so still hoping and be patient of waiting, try to check again your profile and others..

It is legit for sure. My hubby told me that one of the proofs for you to find out that a certain site is legit is to search it on wiki i.e. wiki odesk.

It is difficult but not impossible. I have heard from my friends who have been earning good money. Try updating your skills. It will help.

Yes, it's difficult. There's too much competition in there. And sometimes employers offer a very low pay.

I observed also that they offer a very low pay but some earn much on this site I just don't know how.

Do you really need to have a webcam?? Do they require you to use webcam while doing the job?

hi Angel. Well it depends the kind of job you are working into. For data entry some employers require it but some are not as long as you follow the instructions they gave then you are good to go.

Hi. Before I got hired in Odesk it took me about 3 months. So, don't loose hope just try applying the maximum number of application a day and you'll just be surprised one day when somebody hires you. Good luck!

I have a friend who earned much through Odesk. Since then I was so excited even if I find it hard to make my profile and take tests but was so disappointed later on 'cause no one wants to hire me.

actually i'm also having the same situation, but yup, that's right, it will take time before someone recognizes your profile. just be active on looking for a job, try out as many as you can and who knows, you might just grab a job for yourself!

Since I'm a newbie do you think for now I just go into into an hourly rather than fixed price to avoid spam? I really need suggestion and more information. I already spent more time into it and the result is still nothing.

you can always balance the jobs that you want to pick, you can do hourly or fixed, just make sure that the buyer is already verified, that way you can prevent spams and scams at the same time. Don't lose hope!

I started using Odesk this Feb. Luckily, I got hired about a week or two from the day I joined Odesk and start applying for jobs. I have 2 active jobs right now and I'm earning the same amount that one can earn from working in the office. The great thing about odesk is you don't have to wake up early. Its hard at first but once you got your first job, you will soon be overflowed with jobs. There's a forum for Pinoys that works or wish to work in Odesk at symbianize http://96.30.1.224/showthread.php?s=a1e4082e01605baf42e9a4dc36093be5&t=333859 I got inspired with that forum. Its been useful to me especially in the cover letter part.

I gave up applying at odesk. I cannot compete with other applicants who would offer very low pay rate just to have the job. In addition, i think i am not much techie on how to do things on the net.

When I start fixing my profile I find Odesk as a challenge. Don't you know that it takes me a week to fixed my profile and everything just to avail 25 for job application quota. I was so happy when I reached 25 and keep on applying but later on I felt discouraged. Nobody wants to hire me.:-( Though I'm on and off to odesk for now but I don't want to give up 'cause I still believe that someone gonna hire me soon.
