Should an Ad on smoking be sensational?

This was the point of discussion between me and my Director. He is of the opinion that the Ad should be indicative and symbolic. I differed with him arguing that in a country like India, where illiteracy rules the roost, it’s advisable to create sensation so that the message goes straight in to the head of the target consumer. Else it flies over the head of the target consumer. Ultimately, my argument was accepted and this is the result. Have a look.

As I could read and you been working for anti smoking advert.. if so then yes its great with one line and symbolic sketch, however I disagree with the logic of not understanding the theme of any advert(either commercial or social)in 'India' whether it be simple or a bit complex. Its a global world now and Indians are also aware of almost every changes taking place around the world.

Its not the question of understanding It’s the question of being mild or strong. Mild warnings will generally go unheeded.
