Nowadays while surfing I often see these adverts like study online with all support and guidance from xyz University.I have studied through distance learning program in the past and that helps specially in the country like India where everyone cant get the admission in the stream or subjects s/he wants to study. But learning online!! I mean everything is in the air!I agree that its easy to find study materials now because we have Google but I am still not feeling comfortable to choose this mode of education.I think it is just for those who want only degree and certificates. Has anyone of you studied online? if yes then how did you manage everything related to studies and how did you appear in exams/tests?

I am currently enrolled in an online school. I find it easier than going to a campus for my education. Everything is seperated by weeks and all materials and readings are provided online. The exams are difficult but you can use any material, notes, discussion questions, and even the internet to complete the exams. I have done very well so far. I try and do as much as I can while at work because my job allows me to work on school. I do get stressed but I try and remember the goal in sight and push forward.

Shshumbla, There is no way of knowing, but online courses are great. In my area we do not have a college that offers a Masters program which is why I am doing it online. My husband's work schedule is crazy and that is why he is doing his bachelor's degree online. It can be stressful at times, but I love it.

Today's homeschooling and online study programs are invaluable in so many ways. One-on-one, individualized instruction has always been the most effective way to learn. All materials are readily available as well as a support system of instructors and other personnel. It is clean, effective, allows for a much faster pace, and significant academic gains. The sky's the limit for serious students who are diligent in their desire to learn. The also are freed from being slowed down by inferior curricula, students who do not want to learn, teachers who are themselves academically inferior, and the politicizing and indoctrinazation of "brick and mortar" schools with an agenda. It is totally freeing, even up to totally free programs and materials. It even saves money on gas.

I agree that online study can never give that quality but think a moment there are many people who have learned things by own and they are experienced enough but because they dont have a 'particular degree' thats why they dont come under that wide variety of jobs where they can serve in more effective ways.I think for such people these kind of parallel learning programs should be appreciated according to me.

I do not understand your response to my comment. I am 100% for online study and homeschooling and 100% against public schooling.

Not a problem at all. It's so easy to fix most misunderstandings. Now if only 99% of people and 100% of governments could "get it" and just speak truth, things would be great! Many thanks to you for your good example.

I have done online studying. I have taken classes at a school doing my study over the internet. I had an account at a school, where I log in. I stay in touch with the teacher, getting my instructions, I do my assignments using microsoft words. Some schools have virtual classrooms, and have chatt and webcam for teaching and communication between teacher and students. You can hear and see each others. When I did my online class last semester I went to a school in person and did my final exam. It'll be the same with this semester online course. I have to go to a school in person to do my final written exam in my town. Then that school sends my written exam to the school I am a student at. It is working out well! Last semester I did well on my exam.

So you got the support and help through online sessions and you stayed in touch with your school and teachers.but at last you will write your exams in person.Thats good wish all the institutions were that helpful with their students may be in future that time will come.who knows.

Yes, I studied online b4. It was basically studying at my own pace. As for exams, there were only exams after a certain number of modules. However, after each module, there was a test.

That sounds a good way of mix studies .. did they take those test in person or online.? I dont see anything wrong studying online but how they take and arrange the exams that makes me confuse..how can someone write online and who is keeping an eye on that unless it is a very high fi video conferencing

The tests were taken online. Basically, I just had to type my answers. Oh my tests and exams are all open-book and so there wasn't any need to have someone invigilate or keep an eye. But if I recall correctly, I was only given a certain number of hours to complete each test/exam and I would be automatically logged out of the virtual exam area once the hours were up.

I dont think so as the technology becomes more advance it will become more easy and popular to study online . specially in the countries where students want to study but they dont get the admission because of lack of seats and resources.

Yes, been there before. I'd learn online, submit my work either online or by post. They'd send me the study materials as well. But, for the final exam, I had to attend to my examination in a venue that they'd scheduled. It's good to have distance learning because you actually take your own time studying and then not being rushed into things, besides being able to do your other tasks. I am still wanting to enrol for another distance learning program.

I started taking online classes last fall and I love it. I primarily take my classes online because I don't have a car. But, this summer I took a math class, (which I had to withdraw from) and in this course, the exams were taken at the center. There were only 4 exams, so I was able to find a ride to each one, but since I dropped out, I only went twice. This fall I am taking two writing classes and an art class, all online. As far as I know, I won't have to go to the center for anything for these classes...

I am working towards a Masters in early childhood studies and will be graduating this April. I love learning online and have had a great experience. I attend Walden University. My husband also attends Walden University and is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have papers to do and post blogs as well as discussion questions. I think learning online is great because you can pretty much set up your study schedule.

You know I never thought of this option. I recently finished basic computer repair course from a tech school here . And I am planning to enroll for a corel or adobe or web design course.I hope that they have that online and do hope that it is not so expensive.I think there will be problem when I have to pay an initial cash and what if they don't keep their commitment. There is no way I can get back my money and it is very hard to reach them being online. So I hope you can give me some trusted sites here where they offer online courses on those fields that I have mentioned.

online study - studying online, just for knowledge
ya.., i was studying computer courses online in my holidays.. I was just studying for my knowledge and not for any certificate.., i did not appear for any online test. Tough if some online websites give test and certificates; I think its of no use, bacause no one will know wo is writing examination...

I have done several courses online and i think it is great it is better than being in a classroom it's like 1 to 1 and you can't get better than that, and when it came to exams/test i just do it online or some times just go to a local centre just for the test/exams i think it is the way a head especially for conferdece
