just a random thought

What if mobile phone company should team up with washing machine brand company so we can control our washing machine via text messages, letting you know if your wash is finished, you could then send back a message telling it to spin and dry your clothes?

Well it's a really novel idea, but if the phone company was as useless and insufferable as my current one, Vodafone Espana I dread to think what state the laundry would end up in! (Come to think of it, that has just given me an idea for a discussion, about poor customer service with mobile phone companies.) The thing is, it wouldn't solve the worst part of doing the washing which for me is loading and unloading it and hanging it out to dry. That is why I find no benefit from a dish washer, it doesn't put the dishes away for me! Now if someone can invent a machine which can do that.......

Unfortunately the majority of companies are the same here, it's like customer service doesn't exist! Look out for the discussion where I shall reveal just how awful Vodafone Spain can be! How about we invent some of these machines? Now that might be a plan!

haha this discussion made me laugh! that would be great!! and if we could control the dishwaser with it as well! haha! :) or turn all the lights on at a certain time so that people thought you were home when you were on holiday and you wouldn't be robbed lol! it seems a pretty far fetched idea, but then again, we have banking through text messages these days, so you never know!

hahaha yeah just a random thought:D coz I'm thinking we spend too much time doing laundry, but if we can only text the machine and it will do it by itself then we could spend our time in doing something we really want. hehe yeah it could be possible in time. thank you for your comment friend:)

flowerfest08, I believe what you are talking about is what is known today as "Smart Home" or "Home Automation" where dwellers can control various domestic activities, such as home entertainment systems, houseplant and yard watering, changing the ambiance "scenes" for different events such as dinners or parties, and even pet feeding. Currently, I believe these devices are being connected through a computer network to allow control by a personal computer or a smartphone, and may allow remote access from the internet. Through the integration of information technologies with the home environment, systems and appliances we are able to communicate in an integrated manner which results in convenience, energy efficiency, and safety benefits. One of the most common and most used device would be the security alarm system of the office or home with the integrated close circuit television which not alerts us on our smartphone or computer once there's a breach. I believe it would be nice to be able to have remote access to our homes but I would not advocate a heavy dependency on it for various personal and security reasons especially the latter.

Boy do you ever have and imagination. However, I like the way you are thinking. I'm currently working on the laundry and I have to run up and down the stairs. It would be easier to just push a button. Then when the clothes were done maybe we could invent something that would fold and put the clothes away. I like folding the clothes. I just hate putting them away. Best Wishes!
